I had the same problem. Just boot the ARMAX CD in minimal mode and it will work (at least it worked for me).

Does the hacked firmware work with import games which are backups or originals?

I just ordered the Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro, should be here next week. If i dont mess anything up soldering it in is it possible to ruin it for good installing the bootmanager or firmware? And then all i have to do is download this hacked version of the bootmanager and firmware, install that and pop in some PS1 or PS2 backups?

Yes, of course. The only reason the software needs to be hacked is to allow booting backups and import games.

If the installation is ok, you just download the software, burn it to CD, boot it, install it and you're ready to go. All media should be booted automatically: PS1, PS2, DVD video, CDDA, originals and backups.

That's good to hear because it's kind of odd that a kickass modchip like this needs hacked firmware to play backups and imports whereas most modchips don't...

Well, that's a matter of legality, so they don't get into trouble so fast.

Ahhhh, I see... I take it they're easy to get hold of in the UK or would I have to order one from the US... *Loathes those arrogant SOB's at SCEE with a passion*
