    Smokin, a dev over at PS3Hax, has released an app that erases your PS3's log history. The app, Wipe History v2.0, removes any trace of what apps or homebrew were played on your PS3. The thought behind this program, is to run it prior to going online onto the PSN, to remove your play logs from Sony's peering eyes. It is possible that by deleting these logs, it will protect your console from the threat of being banned. To use the app, run it via the XMB, your screen will flicker black and return you back to the XMB as normal.

    This is my first ps3 homebrew app, it clears your history (ie.,boot_history.dat) so sony doesnt know what games or homebrew you have ran.

    Most homebrew apps in .pkg form use an id which goes to a file that gets uploaded to sony when you sign into psn, obviously homebrew apps have their own id that sony doesn't recognize which could potentially get you banned.

    This app clears that history so just run it after you run homebrew, It will do ALL accounts on your ps3.

    When you run it the screen will go black then return you to the xmb.

    UPDATE: Get version 2 it deletes pushlist too which is also sent to sony The files are in dev_hdd0/vsh/pushlist/patch.dat and game.dat

      but it would be even better if every homebrew would run this itself once you close it, so you can't forget to use the program before going online...

      Wont this app leave a history?? and wont it look a bit odd to sony also that you have no history??

      This, they see you playing and then see that these lists return nothing to them?
      Couldn't make it more obvious that you are in the red.
      What would be needed is that it modifies these lists to exclude the illegal stuff.

      Wait if some how sony bans someone, Example:
      They ban me. Now would they ban my IP or could i just make a new username and im good to go?

      They won't just ban you. Right now they can legally BRICK YOUR CONSOLE. If George Hotz wins the case, a new law may be created to prohibit sony from bricking your console. Sony bans your IP and PSN account. Sony sees only your Router's MAC not your PS3's.

      What if you do the following?
      1) Run homebrew
      2) Clear History
      3) Just put and run a game disc and then Quit the game
      4) Repeat step 3 with different games
      5) Then sign in to PSN

      Is this only useful if you aren't going to play backups/homebrew while signed into PSN?

      They cannot legally brick IE BREAK your console, it's your property and you could seek justice regardless of what you did to it. Hence why Microsoft ban the console from going online.

      Sony when they do start issuing bans, I'm surprised they havn't already but I wont complain, will...

      Either ban just the console from PSN

      Or

      Ban Console and User from PSN.


      I too also wonder what history of itself this program will leave. Sony wouldn't individually check each and every list, there is probably a system in place which moderates the lists. A blank list I assume the system would expect this for recently formatted consoles, new systems etc so it may not actually ring any alarms. A randomised spoof list would be better though.

      Awesome work. It would be nice if this could be incorporated into our favourite backup manager and run whenever a game is 'mounted'.

      SO should i start playing homebrew etc on a dif account?

      right now im playing booted psn games and pkg files, so is that a risk of getting banned? i play homebrew such as emulators very rarely
