  • WIP: DeSmuME - Nintendo DS Emulator for PS3

    The anonymous coder who brought you a PS1 and GenesisPlus GX emulator, is now working on a Nintendo DS emulator for the PS3. The emulator is still early in development, currently in the Alpha stage. However, after one night's work, he has made significant progress. The emu currently runs 2d games at approximately 50 FPS, but currently lacks sound. Currently there is no release, he wants to improve the emulator before a public release is made.

    Anonymous , the now famous developer who recently completed emulators PlayStation 1 and Sega Megadrive on PlayStation 3 is back with a new emulator. After a night's work, he offered us an exclusive alpha version of its emulator Nintendo DS based on DeSmuME.

    The emulator is currently in testing phase but you can play 2D games like Yoshi's Island with good fluidity. Anonymous is working on compatibility and accelerate 3D games as well as the inclusion of sound. It will also add a pointer to use the tactile features games, knowing that for now the L3 button enables a pressure on the screen, which is quite useful when a game requires to support it. Backups are functional and a menu selection ROMs opens when the pressure on the R3 button to switch the game without having to restart the emulator.

    Anonymous wants to improve his first emulator before distributing it. You do not find on the internet yet. If you want to help financially so he could buy a PlayStation 3 debug to develop more easily, address paypal is: ps3emudev@hotmail.com. Here are some pictures of the emulator in action, we will keep you informed of progress of its work during the day.

      I would much rather him continue his work on the PS1 emulator and get it compatible with more payloads than do this...

      I was thinking the same thing i'm not bashing him or anything he should finish one thing before moving on to the next

      I'd rather see some work done on the dream cast emulator, then on these systems IMO. I know people have their own wants, but I think dreamcast is thing that everyone wants. I want to be able to play sonics and all the other games no my ps3 and I know it's possible. Just slow work done, but this guy is quick with his emus, so I think he could do it.

      I've always wonder though, how can you play a touch screen game on a system like the ps3

      Whatever, Anonymous is the man. simply put. I do not mind if he jumps from PSX to SEGA, to NDS, he continues to drop ine great app after another, take your time Anonymous "take your time" and as always THANK YOU.

      To be fair I wish this guy would continue to develop his PSX and Genesis/Megadrive emulator rather than swinging on to another project and leaving the other 2 half done.

      When you do get them to a better working state Dreamcast and N64 Emulators FTW!

      Exactly. What I said earlier was not a complaint. I just would rather he stick to a project and not leave it semi-complete before starting up a new one.

      His work is great and I really do thank him for it.

      Not to sound ungrateful but, I don't see this being a very practical emulator. There are a significant amount of games that require excessive use of the touch screen and implementing that through the analog stick would be very awkward. I don't know about you but I would be uncomfortable clicking on the L3 for long periods of time while moving/pressing other buttons to emulate some of the touch screen heavy games. But like I said, just my opinion. I appreciate all the work that's been done!

      So what, he can implement mouse and keyboard. C64 did it so can he plus nds emulator would be very nice to have and is the one I personally want the most so I hope he consentrates on this one for now because he updated genesis one just yesterday.       You may as well just be playing it on a PC at that point. Not to say this isn't cool, but the Sega and PSX emus deserve a lot more attention.
