It's time for us to announce the winner of the first ever PSX-Scene monthly developer contest. We had a lot of great developers make submissions for the contest and want to thank everyone who took the time to submit a project as well as those who voted for their favorite to win. So here you go PSX-Scene! The winner of the first monthly developer contest is Bitsbubba who received a total of 76 Likes to his submissions and therefore has earned the $250 donation for his hard work. Just a quick look revealed this (I did not check all the likes either)
This is for Bitbubba's Newbie Friendly Ware - 3.55 NFW
Submitting multiple versions of the SAME project is just wrong, you should have counted unique likes per project.

2 votes: 00fernf, douha, marribaloch = 3 unfair
3 votes: zzk2001, Tranced = 4 unfair
4 votes: Mack702, blacklisted, heapy83, williak7, damanptyltd, TitanTX, ALBERTSR = 21 unfair

So that's 28 extra votes given for the SAME project!

Meaning the ACTUAL total for Bitbubba's is ONLY 48 likes!!!

wow just wow, how can someone who release a fw made with a one click tool win this shit? he didnt develop a shit, its like if i would repack some ps3 themes into a rar and take all the credit for it and win.

I did not see anyone else release a cinavia disabled CFW (atleast until bitsbubba release the 3.41 AND 3.55 cinavia files), and rebug only released there patch package because of the work that bitsbubba had brought forth. Nor have I seen such a great CFW for cobra USB. Nor have I seen so many people getting interested in CFW and MFW.

I know I can not go in and duplicate what he created, without a lot of trials and error, plus a lot of learning too.

We have addressed the problem of having multiple homebrew releases, and have told everyone it will be different for this month's contest.

He followed the rules that WE initially gave, and he won. We are not going to change the rules mid contest, so everyone will have to wait, that is just the way it is.

I suppose some would rather we did not follow the rules set for the contestants. We apologize for not setting up this FIRST contest correctly, but we feel we have worked out all the bugs, and next month should be fair for everyone.

Sorry guys but this award is a joke. Clicking a button should not put you in the same league as some of the true developers. I feel like I'm in a bizaro world where mediocrity is rewarded. Oh wait thats the real world!! LoL Its this sort of garbage that has made so many of us Devs just walk away or only do work for ourselves and close friends

As a reminder to everyone, the contest rules have been changed for this current month, and it will be most likes per release, not most like for all releases.

adrianc got 68 votes from just one release and that is great considering the normal users here (including me) have no idea what lspwn really does.

he did not create the cinavia patches, he applied the tcl file to mfw and checked the box and clicked build. the reason you dont see any of these "cfw"s being posted by anyone else is because you can DO IT YOURSELF, in an extremely easy fashion. tailored to your precise needs. same shit with the cobra firmware, except you just use their firmware as a base.

there is simply no reason for others to upload these updates as they do contain modified copyrighted code and are illegal to distribute. that was a main reason mfw was created in the first place. (which is why most firmwares you saw in the being were made compiled into patch files and you had to apply the patch to the original sony pup).

he did not one line of code. MFW did all the work and IMO the developers of MFW should get the reward money if you ask me. they did the real work. but whatever.

Congratulations! Even though I don't use your apps, it was fun to see how many devs were participating. I am pretty sure that since this was the first contest, that some mistakes and errors will be fixed in the next upcoming contests. But I am not taking anything away from bitsbubba, you earned your win and congrats again!

Just to clarify, I know he did not create the cinavia patch tcl. What I was saying, was he uploaded the cinavia files that everyone else has been using, including the rebug guys with their cinavia patch package. Let us all just try to move on... because if the contest was set up right in the first place, we would not be having all these complaints. Well guess what, halfway through last contest I went to the admins and made sure the rules were changed. It is funny that everyone starts speaking up after the fact. Great hindsight guys, but I was already trying to get this fixed, which has been stated several times on this website. Okay, so some people ae upset that there was a bug with the contest. Well, it was a first release, what do you expect? We are trying to make this contest fair to the developers and all who enter. If you have something to say about the contest, sure. If you want just to complain, why didn't you do it earlier? Why not be like me and say something as soon as you see it, and try to get it fixed for everyone?

True about adrianc, but most of his votes was due to what might be false promise. (Mine included) I was waiting for more news regarding the matter before I was going to un-like lspwn. And congrats to bitsbubba for his undoubtedly fair win. We all new the rules for last months competition and he and I (might have beed tthousand) discussed it at one time and came to the conclusion that the rules would have to change for the upcoming months. So please everyone stop crying. It's a waist of tissue paper.
