Vita as a PS4 Controller? It's possible says Sony
President of Sony has confirmed via Twitter that the PS Vita has the ability to act as a controller for the upcoming PS4 (if specifically programmed by developers). While it will not be something that is used for every PS4 title the ability is there for developers to take advantage of, if they see fit. The question is will this functionality be explored? Is this something that you the users are interested in seeing?
I personally have thought Sony failed with the PS3 and PSP cross-connectivity/features. Now it appears they could be learning from those mistakes and are taking a more serious approach on the Vita & PS4 cross-connectivity potential. First with the announcement that all PS4 Titles can be played via remote play on the Vita, then now the news below:
Sony Computer Entertainment President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida
has confirmed the PlayStation Vita can only be used as a PlayStation 4 controller for games "specifically programmed" to utilize it.
The clarification came via Yoshida's Twitter account
, when a user asked if PlayStation 4's portable buddy could be used as a secondary controller. "In a normal sense, no," responded Yoshida. "Unless a game is specifically programmed to allow such use of PS Vita."

While not every PS4 game will take advantage of the Vita in this way, Sony is still promising
that virtually every PlayStation 4 game will be playable on the handheld via Remote Play.
