PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • VHBL r148 for Super Collapse 3 Released - Switch Between SC3 & Homebrew On The Fly

After much anticipation, Wololo has finally released VHBL for Super Collapse 3. With the release, this means that the game was taken down from the PSN Store. Hopefully, you've scored yourself a copy of the game before then.

VHBL has been released for the American and European versions of the game. The installation remains pretty much the same as the previous two releases. You'll want to drop the extracted HBL folder into your CMA Savedata folder. From there, connect your Vita to CMA, transfer it over and you're good to go. The reason why I say that you can switch between Super Collapse and VHBL on the fly is that it's triggered by checking out the high scores.

Less than 24hours after our public announcement of the existence of a vulnerability in the PSP game “Super Collapse 3″, Sony pulled out the game from their store, like they did for Motorstorm and Everybody’s Tennis before.

Now comes the stressful moment for me: releasing the VHBL files publicly, and cross fingers that it works correctly on everybody’s Vita.

It is worth mentioning that, as for our previous releases, members of the /talk forums knew about the game’s name up to one week in advance, which gave most of them enough time to get the game without any issue. I want once again to thank the community for being able to keep the secret, although it didn’t go without issues. Way too many people talked about the release publicly on our forums, despite the message on the forum clearly stating not to. We appreciate the support, but next time, if you want to say “thanks”, say it with a PM . There were also a few leaks on a few websites, we are in the process of tracking down the sources of the leaks, and making sure these people will not get access to future Ninja releases.

Many thanks go to thecobra for this release, he found the exploit and did the VHBL port, I just tweaked it for the EU version of the game. I’d also like to mention that this game exploit had been sent to me years ago by WosRet on the lan.st forums, so thanks go to WosRet as well.
You can grab VHBL for SC3 below. Don't forget to pick up homebrew to go with your Vita!

I wonder how Sony would respond if an exploit was found on a major title. Would they take down the game from PSN for whatever period of time and I wonder how consumers would react to them doing so.

Yden, that is an extremely good point and for some one knowledgeable, it's something worth investing time into. I'd dare say if it happened Sony would be in a tight situation... But then they could just as easily fix the exploit... if that's possible.

Also this version of VHBL has some bugs in it aka many homebrews wont start or crash and some won't function like they should. wololo is on a 2 week vacation? and we have to wait for a new update for it.

If Sony were to remove a major title, let's say Uncharted from PSN because of an exploit then the "legit" users would go into a uproar... Not again Sony, but against us. They don't care if it does not enable piracy of Vita games in any form... It has been shown several times that the completely blind, herding sheep of Sony fanboys will automatically blame the hackers and bend over making sure they pucker up their ass cheeks for Sony.

Not to throw gas on the flame but most people when it come to hacking their console only do for the piracy part. I mean it's cool and all to have homebrew but the main reason people do it is for piracy.

You really think that people would be on 3.55 Kmeaw if all they could do is watch showtime and play retro emulators get real

I will agree with the legit users the psp devs stop making games becuase the psp was cracked open like an egg... so honestly the PS Vita should be hacked IMO when it's lifespan comes to an end and the new handheld comes out.

If the vita gets cracked open like an egg it will kill the vita because no dev will spend their hard time on some for SOME people to BUY the game and MOST people to PIRATE it.

Which I am happy for what Sony has done with the ps3.

If anyone of you guys had an investment you will not let your investment go in flames.
