Will doing this still work with PSX and PS2 games? I did the old downgrading/flashing/upgrading procedure and the new drive only works with PS2 games.

Sorry if i say something stupid, but i need to ask. My blu ray drive stopped work 3 months ago, i have a PHAT PS3 model CECHL01. It not presented any problems untill the day it suddenly doesn't reconized the presence of a disc inside the drive. Does this procedure can make my BR drive work again? Thanks

it depends really, you may just need a new laser. but if your on 3.55 this will allow you to remarry without having to downgrade to 3.50 or further. this will not make a brken laser work.

i shouldnt forget the mandatory "do not enter FSM to do this if your on 3.56+ because you cannot exit FSM."

only 3.55 and below should do this. if you have a ps3 on 3.56+ with a broken bluray board (i have one), you can downgrade with a hardware flasher and then use these files and rehash your system very easily.

When I flashed my old 60Gig PS3 with the kmeaw 3.55 firmware it automatically disabled bluray playback (It does on this version ps3 unfortunately)

Does this mean I can now re enable the bluray playback without losing my kmeaw 3.55 firmware functionality???

Why are so many getting confused by this? It's simple, really:

If you need to replace your blu-ray drive with a different blu-ray drive, then you might need this.

If you're replacing a blu-ray drive with one of the same form, then just swap pcb's after you replace the drive (use your original pcb on the new drive) - no remarrying necessary, as it thinks it's your old drive.

Again, this is only needed if you're going to replace your blu-ray drive with a different model than it came with.

Also, this is used for your original drive. If you've downgraded to a lower firmware, some ps3 models lost the ability to playback BD movie discs. This tool allows you to regain playback with an easier method than before.

For me it is not possible to bring the BD movie back to the drive! I insert the the BR at the service mode but it tells me "wrong disc"! Any idea?

Still does not fix BD playback prohibited error on NAND models.

      On another note:

In the past with the old file set I married a DRL known BD drive from another 60gb ps3 to my 60gb and copied over the DRLs and still go the BD playback error. When I remarried the drive back to the PS3 that it came from it worked again.

This sounds like something I would like to try, however, I no longer have an OFW 3.30 or less, and it is removed on all the sites i go to. can someone pm me a working link? I do not trust trying to get it from the ps site, for obvious reasons. Thanks.

      What is/are pcb's?

I habe 2 PHAT PS3, both are on CFW 3.55.
The Bluray drive is working fine on the 1st, but I have an issue with the fan, after few sec. will run very loud (like a helicopter).
The Bluray drive on the 2nd one is not working, but the console run properly.

The question is what is easier.
To swap the drives and run the remarry method.
To swap only the laser (if this is possible)
To swap pcb's (whatever this means)
