Are you sure you read all the comments? I saw comments about piracy from cmptrblder, yes159, fernan1234, and fivee before I mentioned it. And I might be wrong but that looks like your name is in that list. This is defeating the purpose of my comment about cluttering these threads to start with with this noise which ultimately is off-topic. I won't comment on the issue again. Hopefully everyone else follows suit

Yep, i'm sure that i have read all comments. You mentioned anti-piracy people and that they should stop flooding these threads with the same old tired comments (about anti-piracy stuff). I havnt seen any comment here that have said anything anti-piracy. That is why i asked you who is flooding this thread with anti-piracy talk =)

But personally i dont see why there is a problem to talk about piracy in this thread/article when that is very much on-topic. If it was off-topic, then i would fully understand it. It is ok that you dont like that people talk about piracy here though, your entitled to your opinion of course, but i dont see why it shouldnt be talked about when it is on-topic.

if the game/consoles are good then there will be ppl paying for then, if you simply tell ppl: you have CFW you cant buy anything! then there's only piracy to get your games...wtf do you think ppl will do??

i havent playd anything recently, and the last game i've boght was "The witcher 2", GOG version, i have yet to play the game, but seing a game sold WITHOUT DRM made me want to fork up and pay for it!

Do you realize how stupid you sound? They "posted loses this quarter" relative to last quarter. That doesn't say anything whether or not if they have amazing sales, just that they did worse than last quarter.

About 90% of the people I know (which is a decent number of people) have a wii and most of them have it hacked. About 75% of the people I know have DS's and pretty much all of them use flashcards. About 3% of the people I know have PSP's. About 15% of the people I know have X-boxes. About 35% of the people I know have PS3's and about 10% of them have bought them to put CFW on it.

Why would anyone have a need for two consoles? It only makes sense that the number of sales are going down considering how many people already have Wii's/ DS's / etc...

Piracy encourages sales of not only consoles but games. Many games are being played which normally wouldn't even be bought my the majority of gaming communities. The fact that people are playing these are direct advertisements for the games which wouldn't naturally be bought thus increasing the sales.

I can keep going on, but you get the point and if you have not been able to logically deduce any of this (especially considering a loss this quarter does not imply not amazing sales), then I'm not going to bother to take your post credible or future posts regarding this topic credible.

That would be great if they did. There is a lot of DLC that I would like to have, but since I can't get on PSN with a custom firmware PS3 I can't buy them. @TheAntiPiracyNuts - yes, I would actually buy some of these PSN games and DLC if I could get on PSN or if they were available in another fashion. Being connected to an online service shouldn't be a prerequisite for ownership of NON-ONLINE games and DLC. If you guys have a problem with this kind of piracy, maybe you should write a letter to Fony and ask them to restore PSN to all owners of a PS3 whether it's on official firmware or custom firmware. I paid my money for the console like everyone else and PSN is featured on the box. I've got custom firmware on my router, iPod, and just about every other piece of electronics that I own. They don't restrict features just because you choose to customize something you've paid for to suit your needs whatever they happen to be. If PSN is restored, then almost all of this kind of piracy will cease to exist. There will always be some people that still do this kind of piracy, but a good portion of the people with custom firmware don't mind paying for a game or a feature if they really like it. Most of us believe in supporting the developers of software that we really enjoy so that we will see more quality products from them in the future. Until you look at all sides of the so-called piracy issue, then please keep your comments to yourselves and stick with the topic at hand. Thank you team Duplex. Keep up the good work and as patz said please work on some of the DLC when you have time.

Yes, if you want to get technical, it is a service not a feature. And Yes, it was listed on the box for my PS3. It is a service that was designed for owners of a PS3 to buy games, DLC, and to play against their friends, etc. My point was that if they want to deny access to PSN to people with custom firmware which is their right, then they should offer at the very least access to buy games and DLC. If they can't do that then nobody has any room to bitch about what groups like Duplex are doing. I appreciate the contributions that they are making to the scene. I would buy some of it, but I don't want to give up the freedom of modifying something that I own which is my right. We are not renting these machines from them, we own them. Think about if you bought a Hewlett Packard computer and they had a contract with Microsoft that said that you could only run Microsoft software or specifically licensed software on your new computer. People would raise hell about that, but we're talking about video games, so nobody says anything about it. I'm not talking about playing games online with custom firmware because it becomes lame with cheaters and you probably shouldn't be rewarded with playing games online if you bootlegged them, but the store access is a no-brainer. If you go to WalMart and they won't let you in, then you can't spend money on their products. It's the same with PSN. But stopping people buying Store stuff is just stupid - that literally just blocks revenue streams for both Phoney and the publishers. Even if I haven't paid for the main game - why block me from BUYING add ons?

Sony doesn't care much about the people that are on CFW. They just want to show the other ps3 owners that they do care about their customers by showing that they take legal action and procedures to "protect their console" To make people believe that people who are on the latest firmware won't feel ripped off.
As when they buy their games with their hard earned money, that they won't find out that they could have gotten it for free as then they feel tricked by paying for the game.

Also sony doesn't care about the psn store or wether you get the latest map packs, extra levels as long as you enjoy your experience of owning a ps3.
This won't even affect sales that much as through all the negative advertisement like the CFW is for Sony, it is still advertisement and a lot more people are showing interest in the playstation 3 system. Or even buying an additional system.
Besides the fact that the whole playstation system is just a small part of Sony corporation but they will continue franchising and joint-selling the whole thing and putting logos on every game. As their old slogan was saying, Only Sony.

However they will try and do everything to keep their customers satisfied by showing that they care and keeping their PSN service online and without cheaters or people who ruin it for others. They don't post a terms of agreement for the PSN for no reason.

By finding a way to play the PSN content offline, without paying for it. It is actually stealing and the same as when you take something in a store that is not yours and walk out the door.
Of course I'm not saying I am against pircay but plain simple this is no different. So yeah I stole a lot of games and I like it. I don't feel regret or anything and as long as I breathe I will continue to do so. Guilty as charged, right hand to god.
But I'm not pointing out any fingers to Sony saying; that's the bad guy.

People keep saying I want to be in control of my system and do with it whatever I want... But why people still complaining when they can play their stolen games *cough* original backups.
