UPDATE - JFW DH Status Report

JaicraB and his team of highly dedicated developers have decided to surface for air, and give us all an update on progress of JFW DH. It seems this project has not been lost in the haze as most of these big type firmwares do, and it seems to be fairly far down the road to completion. A lot of the modules are in there later stages of completion, and most main functions are operating as intended.

According to demondhades.org, their progress is as follows:

-Payload Cobra 60%
-Linux 95%
-PreloCategoriesCategorias xmb 95%
-Manager TheGrid 25%
-TheGrid 100%
-Services Packs 0%
-OpenPStore 50%

As you can see, the project is not too far away from a release, as most functions are up in the 90% region of completion.

It has been specified that this is based off of 3.41 core, and will not be ported to 3.55 due to the fact that it already exceeds functionality of 3.55. This is because they have modified the core files to allow huge customization and addition of features, most of which are already occurred. This has caused them to rename the core 3.41v2, the current addition core functions are below:

Return of the online (running)
Update of keys (working)
Spoof Version
Disable devices
Mounted units, several readerscombination]Plugins level conbinacion buttons on the six
Modification speedfun speed
Multiloader (operating)
Dumper full-ram (running)
PSN-games license generator (operating)
Hacked signature verification token QA (running)
Reboot
PSN access sysversion check “no spoof nor certs” (running)
Check-patching the original disks (operating)
Activation of the 8th SPU
All games 3.56 and below are compatible (including original disks)
Psn-games that require npdrm 356, are supported
No need for a valid signature on the executable
Support for peripherals that are not licensed by sony (3.55 fixes for dongles)
Can take the keys with a dual nand 3.6x (programmer) such as PNM
allows custom appldr redirect to another area of the ram (to prevent corruption of existing data)

Another important advantage is the XMB modifications they have applied. These include the new categories:

Multimedia - Reproduce all native XMB functions in Music, Video and Photo sections as well as some added goodies
PS# Loader - Any Playstation game content other then PS3, including PS1/2/minis games and saves. Will also house RetroLoader (modified CobraUSb Backup Manager) for managing PS1/2/3
TheGrid - A interesting category TheGrid that will house addons and service packs. Thegra is also the name of the plugin engine, allowing Devs to only be limited by their imaginations.
Emulators - Will contain all old emulators of all old console emulators.
Homebrew - Will contain all homebrew available to the PS3 to date, as it will have a download function linked to the OpenPStore.
Manager - A place to manage PKGs, FTP, Saves, etc.

To top it off, the firmware will be upgradeable internally, meaning no flashing of new PUPS to get the latest firmware. As you can see, this firmware means business, and is packing a damn good punch. You'd be nuts not to jump straight on this as soon as its officially released(Unless your worried about a Waninkoko brick repeat). More on this as it occurs, at PSX-Scene.

Thats not true. You're assuming that if everyone in the world installed waninkoko's firmware then it would have somehow made it work better.
You could argue that if someone who was capable of getting the 3.6 keys and making a firmware decided they didn't want to do it because of the risk to their console, but if someone could really do that then they'd not worry as they would have the knowledge to fix their console anyway.

Progress is mainly hindered by apathy & threat of a lawsuit. With all the announcements of new firmware coming soon, why bother? Thats all the annoucements are for anyway, to deter someone else from spending any time on it.

The irony is that nobody wants a 3.41 based firmware & everybody is hoping that once this CFW is out then it can have the new keys, PSN access and Cobra support ripped out of it. Those are the main features and they either work or they don't, once it's announced it should be releasable.

I really can't wait for this (Actually, yes I can). I want it to be the best it can be. Finally I may be able to re-license my purchased PSN games that I have been locked out of playing.

Is it just me or this is a HUGE deal? This had to be headlines everywhere! (if it is true).
Now really, PSN access? 3.41 FW compatible with higher FW games? Hmmm.... Let's hope for the best!

sure are a lot of features in this. if its stable in the end and psn works, i'll switch to it right away, i've been missing psn for the last 4-5 months

With the QA flag method do you risk destroying your BLU RAY PLAYBACK when downgrading? Can you backup some files before downgrading?
Also what is SPEEDFUN SPEED stuff?

So glad I saw this post. I haven't been keeping up on anything for a looong time (I was still using AVR Key 1.0!). I had some trouble with some recent backups and started poking around the forums for tips . . . all of these different payloads and FWs and CFWs were making my headspin . . . I was wondering if I ought to upgrade to CFW 3.55 since that's what everyone seems to be raving about. Glad I didn't!

3.55 is still best right now, until this is released. And since it only takes a few minutes to downgrade, i would actually recommend going to 3.55 right now, then downgrading to this when it is released.

This FW looks promising, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I just hope someone will port it to 3.55 as 3.41 doesn't have 3D movie playback unless they can add it into this JFW. In which case I am pretty sold on it.

Sounds interesting if they could include that.

This is by far the greatest firmware announced so far, and i personally am very excited about it.

You won't be able to play games that require the 3.60+ keys still. It does not say that you can play new games anywhere.
