  • UPDATE: Bring *Install Package Back to VSH on 4.30 CFW - Tutorial + Rogero CFW Fix

    UPDATE: Szalay and "hidden Man" have updated their collective work, and bring you the Install All option for 4.30 CFW (previously not working in the initial release). Grab the updated download below for your Rogero 4.30 v2.03 fix today, both in automatic and manual install options; and you can also grab the updated information on how to create your own fix (shown below).

    PSX-Scene is proud to bring you another great exclusive release, this time for all of the 4.30 CFW users (and creators !!!), especially the Rogero users. "Our-Scene" developer Szalay, with the help of "hidden Man", has brought back the Install Package folder to the current 4.30 CFWs. This release includes a guide for adding the Install Package folder back to your PS3, as well as automatic and manual installation files for Rogero CFW 4.30 v2.03.

    Rogero, team Rebug, and other CFW builders... you all might want to take a look at this

    Maybe it's just my opinion, but the Install Package via multiman and other Install PKG application are not the greatest options.

    Here's how to TRULY add back Install Package from the VSH directly like before in v3.41/v3.55 for CFW build's v4.30.

    add_install_package.txt

    Code:
    ** All patches inside dev_flash tar files OFW: v4.30 PS3

    explore_category_game.prx
    1) install package:

    Find Data:	F821FED17C0802A6FB8101103B810070

    Replace With:	386000014E800020FB8101103B810070

    explore_plugin.sprx
    1) install package

    Find Data:	F821FED17C0802A6FB8101103B810070

    Replace With:	386000014E800020FB8101103B810070

    category_game.xml
    1) Add to the end like before:

    	<View id="seg_gamedebug">
    		<Attributes>
    			<Table key="game_debug">
    				<Pair key="icon_rsc"><String>tex_album_icon</String></Pair>

    		</Items>
    	</View>

    2) Add into place where you wish for app_home and install package to show up:

    			<Query
    				class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
    				key="seg_gamedebug"
    				src="#seg_gamedebug"
    				/>
    			<Query
    				class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
    				key="seg_package_files"
    				src="#seg_package_files"
    				/>
    Happy New Year!

    Enjoy!!

    F.A.Q.

    How Does this Work?

    "The reason install package was blocked in later than 3.6x firmwares, was because from 3.6x and higher, they started checking for valid tokens, the new ecdsa signed tokens and then flags to enable Install Package to work. The patch done just fakes the SPRX's into thinking the token flag is set."

    Is This Safe?
    "as far as being dangerous, the creator of CFW should be able to decrypt said SPRX files and replace the patches and recrypt/resign files properly and package inside the PS3UPDAT.PUP for all future builds"

      yeah it sure is. For the time being here are some prepatched files. The first is files by Szalay that you copy/ftp to the right place. The second is those files in a multiMAN zip file installable pkg. Just double click to install. After installation reboot your console

      I just hope that a new CFW 4.30 Rogero comes out, improving the game speed(verifying data).

      @Hakuoro

      What verifying data?do you mean in Multiman? it verifies the game before it loads..if it has lots of tiny files, then it will take a while.

      If speed is what you want then copy all your games on INTERNAL and dont play on EXTERNAL so you will get the speed you want

      You should be asking Rogero this as he's the one who made the PUP, and by the way, this fix is implemented on the flash memory/firmware level, so obviously, this can't be implemented in mM in the same way as this fix implements the feature.

      clearly you do not know much about the internal workings of mM. for quite some time now mM has been (albeit silently) modifying libfs.sprx on dev_flash, when bd mirror is used. deank could quite easily add this to mM, though imho it should really be integrated properly into the mfw.

      prediction: in the next 48 hours you will see no less than 3 tools that copy those 2 patched sprx' into place.

      to be very honest, I don't see the point. install package files from inside MM works like a charm, especially since no reboot is needed anymore.

      I'll let this one slide past

      Thank you Szalay for the reversing and patches for both sprx files, awesome job, I will use these patches for future CFWs updates when time allows... Cheers
