True Blue's Warning to Clone Users - Internal HDD Will be Erased!

Well, we were all expecting something like this after JB-King released their 2.5 firmware patch. Today, the True Blue team have made an announcement on there website regarding clones of their devices, and the users that use them. Apparently, there is already an anti-clone technology in the TB firmware, which when it detects a clone will produce one of several random effects to your PS3. One such effect could be the erasing of your internal HDD. They have also announced they are working on developing and deploying more anti-clone features shortly.

A warning to those considering or having already purchased a True Blue clone: we have previously implemented special anti-clone technology in the True Blue firmware which accurately detects clones and when such a clone is detected, will activate one of several effects at random intervals, such as erasing the internal PS3 HDD. The recent JBKing 2.5 software update is especially affected by these measures; anyone using this clone will be subject to data loss as a result of random HDD erasure as well as other effects. Other anti-clone measures are now being developed and will be deployed shortly.

Clones of True Blue will be blocked and future EBOOT's will not function with such devices. It is therefore important that users, in the interests of enjoyment and to avoid wasting money on trivially detectable clones, should purchase only original True Blue devices.

Keep in mind, we here have yet to see any confirmed reports of anything like this happening while using JB-King. It could be a rumor, it could be true; at least you have been warned.

I think this should really only concern the cloners, as they are the ones who are doing the testing to see if they can get the latest EBOOT patches working before they release a fix to their paying customer, customers who are buying an imitation/knock-off.

As I stated in my article, right now this is all speculation, but the real question here is why are they going to such lengths to prevent people from tampering with there device? Are there secrets finally close to being unlocked? Are the cloners on to something?

And by the way, the cloners are no help to the problem of reversing the TB and PARADOX patch method. If anything, they are just creating a larger gap. I could be wrong about this, but that is my opinion.

The bottom line is: If you are a TB supporter, you have nothing to worry about. If you purchased a clone, you get what you paid for.

lmfao TB is the saddest group of fawk ups I've ever seen. They get so mad that others are pirating their pirated DRM dongle that now they are making threats of hdd erasure. I'm thinking its a scare tactic until they produce a new update but this is why I never gave in to these unethical fawkers while there's a greater alternative being the x360 scene. The dongle only exists to DRM the code and you could tell these fawks were unethical from the get go so there was no way I would be running their devices on my console, who friggen knows what malicious code they got on those things, could be logging your every move, I wouldn't put it past these pieces of garbage to add bricking measures as well. Pure dbag pieces of shyt on the bottom of my shoe. For over a year now the ps3 news has just been for laughs and nothing gets furthered. I'm just happy there's other places to turn with very few of these new asshat kids but I fear for the future with the mindset of the new generations...

what if Sony did the same thing upon detecting TrueBlue dongle?
after all, they can do whatever they want, its their software, OS, hardware..
and all the "hard work" of TB is nothing compared to work of the people who created the games, or (real) homebrew.

If the dongle has been reverse engineered, doesn't that mean that those who created the clones UNDERSTAND how True Blue works? If True Blue continues to piss off people who understand their tech, doesn't it seem likely that one of the clone groups will just make the secrets public? ..We don't have to know how the patches work..only where to get them. If an erkked Clone Blue team releases a dongle-free firmware, couldn't we just run it through a firmware extractor? Even if there's a chance running PARADOX patched 3.56+ games will "wipe our hard drives," I'm sure people would find a work-around for that..Thoughts?

Its not their hardware anymore after they SELL it to us. And no, they can't do whatever they want with stuff I purchased.

I bought 2 True Blue's from Mod Chips Direct. When I got it I tried to upgrade it to 2.5 but it failed to talk to the dongle. My firmware says 2.5.1 TB is this a clone? Should I be Concerned about erasing my Hard drive? The Dongle is Metal and has the true blue logo on it, anyone know?

WOW! This is just disgusting, I have never seen this type of behavior out of any group from any scene I've participated in in the last 10+ years of modding electronics. I would never support such a group and would never spend a penny on their device even if it is the only device out on the market. **** even if i got one for free i would PISS on it! This is despicable and is just backwards of how a "scene" in supposed to work. I am glad to say I have never bought in to these companies that profit from piracy, as I am a huge supporter of Free and Open Source! I'm sorry to say I will not to following the PS3 scene anymore, I will not participate in such a rapacious, extortionate scene that will soon devour itself.

Thanks Gradius. I was on the fence for a long time before getting a true blue. I was hoping for a new workaround or something. I really just don't like the dongle's at all. Even the original JB dongle. I have a 4 year old and a wife, so having anything hanging out of my PS3 is asking for it. Spoiled I guess by the ease of Kmeaw. As a new owner of an official true blue(never bought a clone) I personally think the clone wars have gone too far. I've purchased true blue, I will use true blue, but I don't think that people that haven't, should have their hard drive erased or worse. If you don't want people that didn't pay not to play, there are alternatives. Good luck to everybody whichever way you choose to go, or not to go.

Wow! What more can be said about these guys. They will brick your TB if you plug it in a PS3 with a different firmware. Now they are adding HDD wipe routines to games that test for cloned TBs. Reminds me of the WiiKey threats but I think these aholes will really do it. I've hated these guys since they started taking credit for independent reverse engineers (like me) in the 80's, now all they do is steal the eboots and sign them with their own keys. They can only release games they can steal the unsigned versions of now.

All of you need to be ashamed of yourselves. This is why the PS3 scene cant get ahead. Not because of TB but because of the bitching,whining,and complaining. TB left options open for people who wanted to play newer games. All of the devs work that you guys claim that TB stole (not knowing how TB operates) if it was really there work (Steve Austins Voice) What?...How come there isn't a free option. If you are not into the PS3 Exclusives just do yourself the honor and just get a flashed xbox 360. I was seriously thinking of getting one of these because I wanted the Jax and Daxter HD collection. But now that I see just what kind of people are involved in the True Blue device I want nothing to do with it. It's obvious now that these people are nothing more than a bunch of money hungry penis sucking queers.

Oh stop complaining! You can still play that on the 2.5 update and never update again if you feel that way stop justifying and making a really big deal out of something that is nothing

What scare me the most is what if something went wrong and it detect my real TB as a fake one and deleted all my stuff on my ps3...I mean mistake will happen and always do. I own a real TB, but I'm just saying if something went wrong I do not want the stuff in my ps3 to be deleted...it'll be chaos if something like that happen, there will be a lot of angry TB user.

Now this is something. One of those things that adds to the suspicion that TB is made by $ony themselves, or made by a 3rd party that secretly has $ony's blessing. Think about it. If retaining integrity was not something $ony was concerned with, do you think they would resort to a tactic like this? Of course they would. So in hiding behind the TB name, they can do whatever they want, without fear of recourse as there is no hard link between TB and $ony. It's brilliant.

At any rate, these are the types of things you have to accept when you choose to go down the "non-righteous" path. This company has an alliance with no one. It's kinda like hiring a thief to steal for you. Do you really think you can trust him?
