Recently the True Blue team released dongle firmware 2.6. It was taken down after only a couple hours because people lost their DLC and PSN content through ReActPSN. There was also some freezing issues. Shortly after taking it down they announced they would fix the problem and have it back up as soon as possible.

Well, now it appears as they made good on that promise. TB dongnle firmware 2.61 is now up on their website.

There shouldn't be a problem with it, but for the time being, people that are unfamiliar with how the PS3 and the TB works and also how to recover from problems should wait until it's tested by other members before downloading.

How to update:
--------------

1. Make sure your PS3 is running the True Blue "3.55-Dongle-DG" CFW (custom firmware)
2. Copy TrueBlueUpdate-2.61.pkg from this archive to a USB flash drive
3. Boot your PS3 _WITHOUT_ True Blue inserted, and then insert the USB flash drive
4. Navigate to (Game) -> (Install Package Files), and then select TrueBlueUpdate-2.61.pkg
5. The True Blue updater will be installed onto your PS3 HDD
6. Navigate to (Game) and load "True Blue Update v2.61"
7. The updater will start, and will then prompt you to insert the True Blue dongle. 
   Insert it only at this point, and continue. Your dongle will then be updated
8. After the update procedure has completed your PS3 will reset, and you will then
   be able to enjoy your updated dongle
9. You may delete the True Blue Updater from your HDD after the update is complete

It makes your PS3 think it's on 4.11. It doesn't give you PSN, but it helps to get games to run and prevents accidental updates

There was an interesting addition to the IP address line in the system settings. It adds the TrueBlue info next to your IP address. I'm not sure why they did that yet. Could be nothing, or it could be a sign of PSN access or maybe a private online server. Right now it's just speculation

can anybody that has debug system updates check to make sure it's still working. I had an issue and tried to reinstall TB firmware (I did have the dongle out so that's probably why it didn't work)

highly unlikely, since what prevents you from updating is the eboot on the update files, sure it wont ask you for updating your system now, but the eboot will still be coded with 3.6+keys, so unless TB starts releasing eboots for updates you are out of luck.

PS: i still want they to do fixes for PSN content such as Trine 2 and Monster Hunter portable 3rd HD(since i sold my psp :P)

Hi. Where is the "3.55-Dongle-DG" firmware? Still seems to be the v2 on the homepage?

yeah, the "3.55-Dongle-DG" is the same as the V2 firmware. When you install it, it doesnt show up as 3.55-V2 but as 3.55-Dongle-DG on the system information menu.

do we hve to do the firmware aswell then or cn we stay on v2 i have upgraded dongle to 2.61 an doesnt seem to be any problems on v2

so this is what i did(booted with no dongle)
1.download 2.61 then install to usb device
2. install data
3.run data without dongle and wait for confirmation on iinserting dongle.
well i get the revoery menu everytime(
tells me to hook up controller with usb then tells me to insert update with 3.55 or higher.
tried 3 times, now stuck on searching for update.

still trying..wtf? anyone else having issues?
i have no spoofers or react psn(had it couple of days ago to install some psn themes but didnt do anything. then deleted before this update..

so if you installed the 2.51 update then you must reinstall the cfw v2 then run 2.61 update.

THEY SHOULD OF BEEN A LITTLE MORE CLEAR bout that, or maybe they dont know. whatever it works though.

Updated to 2.61 with no issues. Dongle was brand new and already on 2.51, running cfw 3.55 v2. Now as previously stated, some new eboots would be nice No complaints though... I've got enough to keep me busy

@Jay-Jay - I promise you guys the download link isn't down. It's just high server load. If you can't get it at first, then just keep hitting refresh. It'll download after the 4th or 5th time hitting refresh

@GNkyrios - I meant somebody that has the fast swapping of firmwares method through a debug setting. It lets you put a number of different firmwares on your internal drive and just pick the one you want. The first time I tried to install the update, I didn't remove Rebug's spoofer and got a frozen/black screen. I had to remove the dongle for my PS3 to boot at all and when I went to the system update menu to reflash the TB firmware I had stored on my internal drive it said the data wasn't valid. I got it up and running by just uninstalling Rebug's spoofer, then reflashing the dongle

@mrgreaper - I'm sure there will be new eboot fixes released very soon. Otherwise there wouldn't have been much of a point of doing the dongle update. It's a good idea to go ahead and get it running and make sure everything's ok before you get ready to play a new patched game

@jakenastysnake - There have been dozens of eboot patches that have been released for games that are worth playing. Maybe you're just looking for the next thing instead of looking at what you have now. Take another look - you might be surprised at what you find - Personally, I'm looking for Prototype 2

received my TB dongle right now , really right now , tested FF XIII-2 and Soul Calibur V , I have to see it with my own eyes it works LOL !! , btw no need to update to 2.61 for me until new releases or when they fix Multiman Cache Data compatibility .

If history of TB is any indicator, then a new update means new patches. A lack of patches (over the past month) means a new update. They're tied together

Well put. You have to admit though, alot of the eboots out now are japanese/anime releases and those just aren't my cup of tea. I'd like to see an eboot for Dragon's Dogma when it comes out
