TeamSOS Releases Fix Tar for 3.56 and 3.60 Firmware

I'm just bringing a little update for anyone that's messing around with 3.56 or 3.60 pups. Whenever a tar file is modified, it's permissions need to be set. For all firmwares 3.55 or lower, it was one set of permissions. 3.56 and up use another. This is Kakaroto's Fix Tar command line application updated and tested working for use on 3.56 and 3.60 firmware tar files. All credit goes to Kakaroto, all I did was change some values and compile it. Please note this is of only of use to developers and not beginner users.

In any case we don't realy need 3.60 CFW but if they do it i will use it for PSN

Good news, though an argument that a 3.60 CFW is not a necessity can be made, PSN requires it. The sooner, the better.

With all the news as of late a lot of things seem to be in the works (the dual boot, all the linux work) and now action for the pups on 3.56 and 3.60 that some though were near impossible to do anything with, these are some smart people out there, Hey $ony "Can you smell what the devs are cooking?"

Awwwwwwww snap! For those that might be confused...this is an excellent tool. Fixing permissions is a very good thing. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3.60 cfw. This could make the petiteboot situation quite interesting as well. I'm going to get all crazy and wish for a VMware.pkg. Best pipe-dream ever! Who the heck is this tetsu(0000764) fool anyway?

Im still using 3.56 in hopes of that a new cfw will come sooner for it than for 3.60.
Havent played online in a long time

It allows for applications to be run successfully on the new firmware I think. It just means that all those that were stupid enough to update MAY have a CFW in the foreseeable future.

I only want a bypass for psn so I could play Battlefield 3 when its out. I couldn't care less for a 3.60 cfw when 3.55 is perfect? I do have another ps3 but it needs a new HDD might just update that one to 3.60 ofw

From the looks of the output on the photo, the software is contained within a tarball; within the .pkg to further authenticate. Tarballs or .tar files are just unified structures of raw data. It is like a bitstream with file allocation, ownership, etc. abilities located within the header for the file. The app looks like it alters the value of very specific offsets of these headers. Essentially, they are making us a "tarbomb", in a good way.

Now in easy speak!!! This make good for work on 3.60 (>?) CFWs. @_@
