  • TeaM AC1D: TrueBlue a Scam

TeaM AC1D has announced that they know the secret behind the True Blue dongle and in the process calling the True Blue a scam. They explain that no real code is used but rather files from higher firmware and some of these files are compatible with older firmware, although the ones that don't work need a little fixing. Below is an extract.

    To Quote:
Finally, after a long period of a scene that got riddled and raped by money hungry dongle suppliers we uncover this big scam and show you how things like the true blue dongle actually work.

First of all, non of the code used comes from the true blue creators. All files used come directly from higher PS3 firmwares.

All you need to do is place them in the right folder and thats it. Of course this does not work with all the procdure quiet games so easy, some of the 3.6 + games load right away, otheres need some fixing.

They are basically charging you money for a small custom firmware, i would call it the biggest scam the ps3 scene a lot has ever seen and we have seen.

This scam needs to be stopped and we should all join hands to finally put to end to all of this. Use this information and do what you have to do.
Now lets sit back, await a release of the method so we can get our own legally purchased games running on custom firmware.

Thanks to psx-scene members tulla and itzViolence for the news submission.

To me this seems more like a rant than anything worth noting. If they now know what TB did, well then, I guess there is no reason they can't make it work for the rest who don't want to buy the dongle. But even if they do, TB did it first, in order for the rest to figure out what they had to do to get the job done. So give credit where credit is due.

I am not trying to look like a TB fan, I do use TB, but because I want to play new games--and got tired of the "waiting game". I do support progress, and I like to encourage it whenever possible, but lately the amounts of rants and the moaning about TB this and TB that, is getting a bit too uncomfortable around here to stay motivated.

I hope my words are taken as a light challenge to those that can hack. I now challenge them to see if they can make this work. Now that this Team (Ac1d) (supposedly) disclosed this "unknown to us" information.

I am hoping it doesn't instead lure a bigger avalanche of more irritated comments and undeserved chaos to this target. If it does, it won't surprise me. Yeah, like we need another TB rant thread--because a few dozen isn't enough! lol

      Tick...Tock...Boom!

Don't worry, if it is released everyone will be happy playing their 3.6+ games rather than sitting here on psx-scene since they got what they wanted without paying for a dongle.

I don't see anything wrong or anything close to a "scam" with the TrueBlue dongle. Even if Ac1d's speculation on how the Dongle works is indeed true it still took research to discover how to utilize said "drivers" and Ac1d also stated some of the drives need to be modified to run games correctly. If correct then TB aren't just copying drivers which in the first place needed to be identified. It also took time and effort to create the packages needed to run these games. So you have the TB team who are the only ones that have accomplished this and they want to charge money for their work as the product does something Ac1d does not allow - the use of 3.6+ firmware required games on lower firmwares. There no is no scam only cheap little crybabies who want everything for free or are just too stupid to realize what is going on and jump on the "anti-dongle" bandwagon.

Don't get me wrong; I will never purchase a TB dongle or any dongle, but what about the rest of these people who purchased dongle's when the PS3 was originally hacked. Was it alright then to buy one and now it is not? Hypocrites, backstabbers, liars, cheaters aka your typical bunch of pirates. Well guess what, TB is doing something your complaining bastards can't do and you want it for free. So sad. Ac1d's cfwprophet has produced nothing, but post after post after post about how he hates dongle's. Why not produce a solution? Until then you don't deserve any respect and the only people that are supporting you don't either. Anyone can theorize on how the TB works and anyone can bitch about it, but no one has come up with a solution. I guess you don't have time to code with all of that going on.

True Blue is not a scam. It does exactly what they said it does. Nobody is forced to purchase the dongle. I bought one and I absolutely love the thing. Heaven forbid that I had to pay money to play 75+ more PS3 games. It seems everyone wants everything for free these days. I have no problem spending a little money. Let me do the math here. $75 for my True Blue dongle = 75x$50 (average per PS3 game) = $3,750. Ya, I can live with that.

actually i have no problem 2 buy a dongle which will add new feature 4 my PS3 same like i did year & half ago b4 clones appeared not even mentioning CFW, but as i said in other thread i refuse 2 end up with 3, 4 or more dongles collecting dust in case another solution comes out, so i wish luck 2 em & am rdy 2 test their eboots

Just a note to the above comments and the many that will follow. I feel the word scam is a bit harsh, the article is quoting the scource. Scamming would be selling something that did not function as advertised. I don't own a TB and don't plan to for a very long time. I have faith in the scene.

If i'm not mistaken, doesn't this mean TB is using copyrighted Sony code?

@Am4d Very good point. Once the method is released and I say once, I wonder if they could get into trouble. Although Sony does not attack the pirates but rather those who open the system up to enable piracy.

Come one guy's, And now another team is trying to take down a known team.
Saying The TB dongle is the biggest scam in the whole ps3 scene ever,
rofl and who the F*** ate team ac1d.
Face it, TB team managed to do something no one else did. Thats a fact, whether u like or not. Yes i do own a TB, im not trying to justifi what TB dongle does is right, but calling it a scam, rofl, only proves team ac1d are somehow jealous they managed to profit of it.
They managed to get 3.60 games working, and thats a fact, period!!!
As i have said before, and i will say again, this is another perfect example of someone or a team reaching for the 15 minutes of lets say 15 seconds of fame!!!
lets se how long it will take before this shitty news will fade away, just like the rest pathetic news that pop up on every single ps3 website

I read this over at another forum just now and commented on it. For what I see, I see nothing that tells me its a scam. lol It probably is that easy but I don't see Team Acid doing anything about it. Acid isn't helping the scene, from what I read they were planning on creating something amazing like a cfw. Which promises all sorts of rubbish that probably will never see the light of day. So I have no choice but to support the dongles.

Well, If those files are just on a USB-stick, then how about sharing the info and installer package to everyone, and we would not have to play the waiting game? If it really is just few folders and files, it should be easy to replicate, eh?

I get the feeling that this is just a case of e-penis envy. TeaM AC1D are just jealous of TB's big stick! Personally, I don't want TB dongle to get cracked and everything come open source. I believe you get better products and service from guys that get paid well for what they are doing.

Open it up and make it free and we are back to "wha!! it was my idea first and you stole it wha!! wha!!!" or "I have found the awesome exploit but I'm not releasing a thing cause I don't feel the scene appreciates me." or "I started this really cool project but don't feel like finishing it anymore cause I found something new to play with."

They figured it out, no matter how little work it was, they still have every right to sell it. Not sure how that's a scam.

Definitely looking forward to playing some of the newer games though!

Well, isn't it time for TeaM AC1D or any other naysayers to release their own non-scam cfw free to the public? That's the only thing to prove what they have been saying right! However, I think it would be good idea for TrueBlue to also come out with some new Eboot soon.

Not if it contains Sony copyrighted code. If they are in fact doing that (which I am sure they are) then they need to be shut down. I know most pirates don't care, but there are plenty of us homebrewers that do care because it gives us a bad name and causes laws to become more restrictive.

If so true. I can see DeanK building some batch files that can convert the said EBOOTs of the games and multiman coming with the needed files. I can see this in the future. Probably not. But, One can only hope. I have faith. very little, it's there, but, very little. lol
