  • Sony Performs Maintenance on PSN - Devastating Effects to CFW Users?

    Today, Sony is currently performing "sporadic PSN maintenance", which in the end may cause a devastating result to custom firmware users. Some sites are reporting that Sony has finally enabled the 3.60 PSN authentication system. The new auth system was found hiding in Sony's new 3.60 firmware, which was introduced last week. The new authentication system would mean an end to PSN access for current custom firmware users.

    Users with CFW have not been able to get back onto the Playstation Network since seeing the following message.

    “We are expecting sporadic PSN maintenance from approx 9am-3pm PST Thursday 03/17/2011. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

    However, as stated in the message, it appears maintenance is on going for several more hours. We ask our users to post their results when trying to get on the PSN throughout the day today. We'll keep you posted should anything develop in this ongoing story.

      PSN works. Simply due to the fact that $ony is marking the spoofers. According to Mathieulh


      muhahahaha the psn auth changed in 3.60, spoofers will get banned fast.
      It's fun to see how sony are letting 3.60 spoofers connect to the psn just so they can flag them xD
      and ofc Next ban wave inc

      So we simply getting marked with the spoofer and then banned :/. Dont know how they can ban you if they dont see the ID (atleast with FPSN) but Im sure in this multimillion dollar company some smartass got a solution for this.

      well, if you got homebrew on your ps3..den sony can easily find it..and ban your psn id, if they fail to get the consoleid

      Aint the PSNID the one you create when you create a new account? If so no real problem there due to 5mins new acc creation

      yeah, but u lose all your progress, trophies, friends, everything..it will be a pain in the A$$ to keep making new accs. each day or two.

      When i try to log on to psn it says update to a newer 3.60 ofw

      I was online from this morning until now (loading stuff from PSN). In the meantime my PS3 turned off due to energy safer options. When I came back home and switched on the console the download started immediatly again. No message or anything else. Maybe only receiving this message if you try to directly log into PSN and not only downloading stuff which was already in progress.

      I know I'm an ***hole for this...but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the web address "ps3crunch.com/wave-psn-tsunami-bans-today.html"

      PSN tsunami bans? LMFAO!! What was this person thinking? I mean, yeah, natural disasters happen, it sucks when lives are lost...but please don't turn this into another 911! Pray, send food, money, hacked PS3's with stickers on them that says "F*ck SCEJ/SCEA!" or whatever and keep moving.

      This is why we cant have nice things like homebrew. If devs stopped caring about PSN so much and focused on other things they could probably do so much more.
