Sony Issues Official Statement - Ban Wave Coming

This seems a bit backwards to us, but after countless legal proceedings, DMCA notices, and firmware updates, Sony has finally issued an official statement on PS3 hacking. The statement basically tells consumers to stop playing unauthorized and pirated software or their access to the PSN will be revoked. This seems to be in direct response to the recent methods of re-enabling the PSN on 3.55 firmware. It appears that Sony may be planning a ban wave, since their efforts to secure the PSN have failed.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment released the following statement:

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.

What this means to you
Circumvention devices and game piracy damage our industry and can potentially injure the online experience for you, our loyal PlayStation customers, via hacks and cheats.

Many PlayStation.Blog readers have asked how we intend to deal with these incidents that they have been reading about in the gaming press, and this is our initial response.

By identifying PlayStation 3 systems that breach our guidelines and terminating their ability to connect to PlayStation Network, we are protecting our business and preserving the honest gameplay experiences that you expect and deserve.
Rest assured, this message does not apply to the overwhelming majority of our users who enjoy the world of entertainment PlayStation 3 has to offer without breaching the guidelines detailed above, and we urge you to continue doing so without fear.

I just got this email

A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation(R)3 system.

Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your PlayStation(R)3 system. Failure to do so will result in termination of your access to PlayStation(R) Network and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your PlayStation(R)3 system.

Now this is interesting. I have never logged onto PSN since installing CFW. I have had the internet connection live though to make use of PS3 Media Server.

Sony is being a bit of a prick. I'm not deleting though. **** them.

he probably has it Connected to ethernet, Unless sony implemented a 3G chip in every ps3 lol...

you need to change your dns to fake ones to stop it sending files to sony. dns has no effect on ps3 media server if all u do is stream vids

I must have missed that. It does have net access because I use my ps3 to view videos from my laptop. I'm absolutely fine with them banning me from PSN though. I don't use it.

I would Disconnect my Ps3 from the internet because they are already Banning people permanently

Reminder: If you get error 0x8002A227 sony banned your ps3 from the psn.

not what i ment. i have my other ps3 connected to network for media streaming but it has fake dns therefore cant send shit to sony. can still get net access tho via ip's

anno the fuk them any ways there pish ... but a just got my ps3 it xmas .. got a email from sony there lol and i have 2 year warrenty does that mean its ****ed ?
