Sony Gearing Up To Issue The Ban Hammer - CFW Users Beware!

The PlayStation 3 scene should have expected this. Various reports suggest that anyone using custom firmware and using PSN/SEN will be banned. Even those using fckPSN or other means of bypassing access to PSN/SEN can be included in the ban wave. I for one have never used online access on my custom firmware PS3, so it would be interesting to see how far the ban hammer reaches. If you are one of the unlucky ones you will be met with a error code 8002A231. Please inform fellow CFW users should you encounter this.

Thank you for your patronage of our PlayStation ® 3 from patronage. Cases of malicious software used on PlayStation ® 3 has occurred recently. Illegal use of the software, in violation of the software license agreement system for PlayStation ® 3, Terms and PlayStation ® Network, the Terms and Conditions Sony Entertainment Network. For the body 3 PlayStation ® violation was observed beyond the scope of the provision of services such as warranty and repair.

Dear valued PlayStation 3 customers,

Unauthorized software for the PlayStation 3 system was recently released by hackers. Use of such software violates the terms of the "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.

Violation of the System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 system invalidates the consumer's right to access that system. Consumers running unauthorized or pirated software may have their access to the PlayStation Network and access to Sony Entertainment Network services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

To avoid permanent termination, consumers must immediately cease using and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.

In order to help provide a safe, fair, online environment, consumers who we believe violate "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network or the applicable laws or regulations of their country or region risk having access to the PlayStation Network and access to Sony Entertainment Network services terminated permanently.

There is nothing wrong about pirating/doing whatever to your CFW ps3 because it is yours. But for online the server is Sony's. (Which is why the game MUST be bought because you are going into Sony's territory)

@Everyone else
No matter what justifications people use for backing up their discs or not. The facts will remain once you are on Sony servers you must abide by their rules. As I stressed before no bootleg game is worth getting your PSN account banned. But thread after thread and time after time people are still playing Black Ops 2 pirated and still getting banned ignoring all of the warnings. I just can simply feel sorry for these people.

CFW is already a privilege for those who DON'T buy their games they are saving alot of money but just cant go online. It's just the fact that you cant go online with it. If you want to do those things buy another console. Me personally having both OFW + CFW (again) they both have their ups and downs but I personally recommend in buying another console. If you cant get $250 for a newer console then how were you playing/buying your games before the jailbreak.

yep article has been completely derailed because of people's "morales" its a shame really this topic could have been put to good use like how many people have been bannned e.t.c i think all anti piracy whiners should just call it quits and this leave this site, it will make it peaceful for all of us instead of hearing their preaching every single day.

this is a hacking site and always has been since the ps2 days, if you don't like any form of hacking then just leave and go and join a hippy sony fanboy site or something, jesus.

anyways i'm out, don't want to set anymore flaming mnes off.

I wasn't whining or preaching. If someone wants to pirate then that is their choice the only points I was making is that people aren't banned from PSN because of the pirated version since there are too many people with it who are not banned from PSN.

Still not banned. I was playing a backup of Playstation All Stars yesterday. Yes, I did buy the game so I could get the Vita version for free.

Try to play Black ops 2, then u ll get banned very fast Other games play fine tho (atm )

it's kinda like going to a stripclub an saying...oh these women are trash an have no class lol...why the hell are u there in the first place ? just to complain an talk about morality ?

anyone heard of users getting banned for accessing psn on lower fw..either on vita or ps3 ? like with a proxy or whatnot.

i would think not....unless sony can detect lower fw on psn ?

People who have played Black Ops 2 online with CFW got banned from the Black Ops 2 servers, but NOT from PSN. Same happened to me. If someone is banned from PSN, it is because of something else.

Yeah, i agree, i was banned from Black Ops 2 servers and not from PSN.
I'm using Rogero CFW 4.30 v1.04 + Multiman, i never used the showtime, i've been listened it doesn't erase the logs.

I use showtime all the time. Before I connect to PSN i just load multiman and then select a game first so the history is cleared. If you want to watch stuff using your PS3 I highly recommend showtime.

^maybe so to some degree.....although i won't dismiss the fact that it would appear some number of users were infact banned from psn, not just blops 2 servers or whatever.

I've been playing codmw3 all weekend and no ban yet. I want to play bo2 but i will wait for some time before i try. I just took my chances this weekend and i was fine. I also had a ofw 4.21 that i use to play codmw3 online and i wonder if thats why i wasnt banned because they know that i had that newer fw that wasnt hackable at that time so theres really no way for my psn account to be on a hacked system unless i was dual booting. Just some thoughts. Cant wait till we find out how they know so we can bypass it.

I got this error today. If it's a ban then maybe it's a console ban. I tried multiple accounts from this system and the message said "you are unable to login with this account" and I got the error code posted in the main article.
