Sony Gearing Up To Issue The Ban Hammer - CFW Users Beware!

The PlayStation 3 scene should have expected this. Various reports suggest that anyone using custom firmware and using PSN/SEN will be banned. Even those using fckPSN or other means of bypassing access to PSN/SEN can be included in the ban wave. I for one have never used online access on my custom firmware PS3, so it would be interesting to see how far the ban hammer reaches. If you are one of the unlucky ones you will be met with a error code 8002A231. Please inform fellow CFW users should you encounter this.

About Sony PSN Consumer Alert:1

Thank you for your patronage of our PlayStation ® 3 from patronage. Cases of malicious software used on PlayStation ® 3 has occurred recently. Illegal use of the software, in violation of the software license agreement system for PlayStation ® 3, Terms and PlayStation ® Network, the Terms and Conditions Sony Entertainment Network. For the body 3 PlayStation ® violation was observed beyond the scope of the provision of services such as warranty and repair.

If you have used malware on PlayStation ® 3, you should stop using them immediately, please delete. If you are using malicious software, you may not be able to connect to the Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation ® 3 from PlayStation ® Network in the future.

Dear valued PlayStation 3 customers,

Unauthorized software for the PlayStation 3 system was recently released by hackers. Use of such software violates the terms of the "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.

Violation of the System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 system invalidates the consumer's right to access that system. Consumers running unauthorized or pirated software may have their access to the PlayStation Network and access to Sony Entertainment Network services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

To avoid permanent termination, consumers must immediately cease using and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.

In order to help provide a safe, fair, online environment, consumers who we believe violate "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network or the applicable laws or regulations of their country or region risk having access to the PlayStation Network and access to Sony Entertainment Network services terminated permanently.

I was just online for a few minutes but nothing happened. I didn't push my luck. I just signed on then got right off. Hopefully some can make some kinda app that will make the PS3 not visible while online. I'm not talking about just the buddy list. I'm talking about being completely in stealth mode if that's even possible.

I just took my auto sign on off. I really don't get online unless I'm racing. Its all good I'll just play online with my spare PS3 until someone finds a work around if Possible. Bottom line is we should be happy with what we have. We have made leaps and bounds in the scene as of late .

so, i'm assuming that people should sign off while using showtime cause you can't pop on that for a minute when you watch an hour and a half long movie :P

multiman might be okay cause it erases what is sent to sony. emulators are like showtime, you don't use those for like a second.

i'm probably just gonna push my luck and stay signed on cause it's one of the few ways i communicate with my brother across the country. i'll try to stay smart though and log off or switch to retail when i wanna use showitme or retroarch.

pretty much like everyone is saying, just stay off the internet and you should be golden.

Why take the risk to get a ban from sony. When maybe in the future you will need something from PSN. Then it will suck for sure.

So stay away from PSN. For now enoy the games till CFW 4.30 because there are a lot of games that can be played now.

Atm they are working on PSN, i logged in and they kicked me but after some minutes i could log back in. turned off auto login , dont wanna get banned atm

What? So they raid someone's house and take away the ps3? The way it's worded should be illegal under any ToS.

About damn time.

I been called it for a couple of weeks and pretty Ironic Black Ops 2 came out today and the last banwave was when BlackOps first came out with 3.50

I am very happy that Sony is implementing this if you have CFW then you are meant to play offline. Leave the PSN access for people who legally buy their games.

I actually can see a dev releasing something soon - think about it. We once had this issue, so we can fix it once again. Using eighter a permanent background process in the system, or simply changing the way the ps3 signs in, could help. See if we told sony we had a clean PS3 then we had something. I wonder what the PS3 actually sends to sony.

But what some can be relaxed about, ti seems DEX fw's arent affected...since they arent quite CFW's . I haven't DEXed mine, because I need a flasher owo

Some smart dev will have a way, they probably know more than we do hehe. Wish I was a PS3 dev. ^^;

Looks risky and at the same time fun! Its like D-Day at omaha beach,Like few soldiers crossed the beach alive, we try to cross without being banned! I even bought some content while in 4.30 CFW. Well hope some one would come up with some Solid Snake Stealh Mode PSN.pkg ;D. So we could enter without being detected.

Forget you! I don't go online to cheat! I go online to have fun with other people and buy games and buy DLC . Who are you to judge anyone here with a CFW PS3. Not everyone here are cheaters or pirates.

Im assuming it would be like the 360 where they ban the console so it doesnt matter how many accounts you create cuz the console would be banned. But still can play offline all you want. correct me if im wrong anybody.

I think they will block the mac adress and account.
