UPDATE 2/11/13

I wanted to let everyone know that we have upgraded the mention system to the better PRO version which has even more features and functionality than the basic version that we previously had installed. There are a lot of new features and I'll be putting up screenshots and FAQ's on how the new additions to the mention system work. This should be done by Tuesday 2/12/13.

Yesterday PSX-Scene introduced a mention system to the website. If you have not noticed yet, here is the rundown of what to expect. By using the @, "at", symbol before a members name, i.e @Tranced, you will notify that user of a mention via the site or his/her email. Also included is "New Posts Quotes". This notifies you that other members have quoted you in the forums. So when logging on to PSX-Scene you will see the New Mentions or New Posts Quotes, in the "Notifications" drop down list, as you would see private message notifications. When clicking on either link you will be directed to your profile were you can view your mentions and post quotes. From there you can navigate to the thread containing your mentions or quotes. Take a look below for further info and other additions.

So basically this is how it works.

The above will notify me of a mention as well as a new post quote as depicted below. Following those links will take me to my profile were I can view mentions and quotes.

Another addition is the ability to tag a thread. This is great when you want to share some info with your friends here at PSX-Scene.

This is a great addition for everyone and will help us keep track of the many threads and discussions here at PSX-Scene.

Something keeps whispering in my ear that deank is going to start seeing a HUGE amount of notifications in the mM threads now.

I really like the quote notification.
I have gone to threads days (and sometimes weeks) later to see that somebody has quoted me and asked a question. Most of the time the question has been answered by one of the great people here, but sometimes it happens in an obscure thread that doesn't get visited much.
This will help out with that.

Technically you can't talk behind someones back here or on the web. Because in my experience the monitor is always in front of me.

i don't think so. i like pm's for more personal stuff/questions. that and it's good for things that are...hush hush.
