what needs work:
1) full screen anything...i dont like black bars (on every side) in my 16:9 videos -.- and for the 4:3 stuff at least make it touch the top of the screen...

2) since watching some things from usb doesnt work unable blah blah cpu speed to slow blah blah maybe some sort of temp file ps3 HDD to send what ever your watching to when you watch something from externall HDD to make it run fine (that is if it will play it from internal HDD that is >_>)

3) skipping threw somethings ive noticed my anime's were 30 mins long i could fast forward 1 hour 30 mins into it...somehow, was just black nothingness though

4) has some problems with really HQ bluray (black screen but sound)

what is perfect:
1) the loading and flipping animations (b',')b

2) normal AVI's, MP4, and 480p MKV's run with ease (havent tried dead formats such as ogm or rmvb)

Videos do touch the top and bottom of the screen. You must first correctly set the "underscan/overscan" options in the settings screen to make the player fit your screen fully. If your videos look like a small box in the center of your TV it means these settings are not calibrated for your TV and you need to adjust it first.

There is also a setting to stretch 4:3 video to 16:9 (fullscreen SD videos).

If there is an issue with a specific video/format you need to make a sample under 250MB and submit it to the developer's website (there is a issue section that allows you to do this). He will then test it and fix any problems.

As far as USB drives go im not sure. USB is slow anyway and its easier to use FTP once its set up and you know what your doing. I'd suggest an internal HDD upgrade possibly using an extender mod so you can use a larger sized HDD than what physically fits inside the PS3. It supports up to around 900GB via internal HDD.

LOL. I grabbed this update from the dev site yesterday morning 6 hours after he uploaded it. Thanks SwordOfWar for the upscale advice, never tried fiddling with to many settings except when the voice sync went off. I for one don't have any issues with running most of my movies off a Transcend 8GB flash drive. But then again I only use AVI & MKV formats.Thanks to the dev responsible for the best piece of homebrew yet. And....**cough...cough...Dean...cough...cough...In corporate into Multiman the new update...cough...cough

Great stuff, I love showtime!one question tho..Can I turn the volume up and down via control pad if not can it be done on a BRremote?I use my monitors internal speakers and it's a bit annoying having to press a shed load of buttons on the bottom of my screen to be able to turn it up and down..

I'm gonna release 3.0 tonight no matter what. The biggest difference from the currently released version is the ability to arbitrary zoom the video. So if you get stupid borders for whatever reasons you can zoom them away.

Then I'll leave on a long vacation and I won't bring any PS3 stuff with me so there wont be any PS3 specific development from me for at least a month. (Although I will develop a lot of other cool features for Showtime which is not platform dependent)

When I get back i'm gonna focus on fixing the PS3 audio issues:

* Digital output (AC3, DTS, TrueHD, etc passthru) over optical or HDMI
* Add a volume control (Showtime already has this, but it just don't work on the PS3 builds)
* Look more at all the Audio/Video synchronization issues.
