A devloper named andbey0nd has just released an addition to the very popular Showtime and SHOWtime for multiMAN, called Showtime Disc Access. Basically, this easy to install package makes the Showtime Media Center better in many different ways. Not only does it add lots of great optical data disc support (DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, BD-R/RE); but it also adds extra as well, such as being able to access Showtime and play videos via Remote Play.

Requirements:

* CFW/MFW 3.41/3.55 with peek/poke/lv1 access (KMEAW/REBUG/ROGERO/HERMES)
* Showtime media player 3.99+ or Showtime for multiMAN (installed in default location)
* Data DVD/CD/BD in the PS3 tray (video/music/photo content)

Purpose:

* Allows access to optical data discs (DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, BD-R/RE) which usually are not accessible in homebrew apps
* Minimizes the steps to access content stored on such optical discs (no need to launch multiMAN with DirectDiscAccess)
* Allows Showtime to play all your backup videos/music if you used optical media

Extras:

* You can take screenshots of movies while Showtime is playing
* You can play music from XMB [Music] column while Showtime is displaying photo slideshow
* You can use "Remote Play" to watch videos on your PSP / PS Vita or other compatible devices

Installation:

* Copy "stDISC.pkg" to the root of a USB drive/stick
* Install from [Game] column -> [* Install Package Files]
* "Showtime (Disc access)" entry will appear in the [Video] column in XMB
* Launch it with data disc in the tray
* In 5-10 seconds your Showtime Media Player will load with disc access

What do you mean? Did your antivirus delete it? If you can not make an exception, then you can turn off the antivirus while you transfer it to the USB and eject.

he means it got deleted from the filesharing website. bummer, i was hoping to dl it.

All right....sorry for the last comment...I got it download and it tis working fine...thanks to tthousad and andbey0nd for it.
Yeah, it let me play downloaded and saved MKVs on DVDs. Hurray...

eeh remote play , thats kinda logic no?
btw, since you cant sync up a VITA with firmware 3.55 its kinda useless for me sadly enough

This is a fantastic feat to say the least. One of the main problems with Showtime is you couldn't put a bunch of multimedia files on a CD/DVD/BD and pop it in your PS3 and play it. There was converting, or transferring or what have you. Sure, you can plop the latest movie on a flash drive as long as it's < 4GB, but this is just great! I also know a lot of people who collect MKV's on DVD9's who would die to have this.

Sucks a bit I'm on OFW, but meh, I also have a HTPC.

Well this works great......just put a MKV file on DVD and played on me PS3, however i stuck the DVD in after Showtime loaded rather than putting disc in first because it wasn't happening for me that way.........anyway big thumbs up

Still sucks... not trying to be to mean but sadly the program can't even handle simple codec that even the Xbox 1 with XBMC can do. So i'll keep using UMS to stream my stuff for now.

....A waits the day when showtime plays all media codec files without lag and stable......"20 years later" lol (ok.. maybe not 20 years)

what type of file?
i used to have troubles with rmvb and then that started to work but with only like a third of my files (granted that's over 170 files that worked).
i'm gonna try more files today. i've really been wanting 4.00 showtime since it hasn't been updated in more than a month when it seemed like it used to be updated every third day.

damn, vcd's still don't work. i guess it makes sense since it couldn't play the files off the disc in regular showtime :/

Actually, you can sync your Vita to your 3.55 CFW console. I have done it, and have enjoyed playing backups from the comfort of my Vita. I was even playing GTA IV WARZ using codes and all. But the one thing I was not able to do was access Showtime, which is something I wanted to be able to do. And now that you can, this is great news.

BTW, if you are having trouble syncing your PSV to your 3.55 PS3, trying connecting the device as a mobile device (seeing as their is no option for the vita on that firmware). It should work fine. Good luck!

No, it does not suck. What sucks is for someone with your attitude putting down someone else's hard work, when I highly doubt that you have ever done anything for someone else in this scene. Perhaps you have a problem with Showtime, but this is not a showtime thread, this is a Showtime Disc Access thread. You are not going to go into one of the Showtime plugin threads and make such a comment, because it has no place there. Next time, if you have nothing nice to say, just don't say anything. And if you have nothing on-topic to say, then definitely do not say anything.

Disable Cinavia... (excluding AVCHD/Blu-ray) to your PS3!
There is no way so far that disables cinavia on discs, only for hdd.
