PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • RUMORS/FACTS - New TB Dongle, E3 Announcement, New Team ?!?!

When the PS3 scene heats up, boy does it heat up. The internet is filled with rumors in the air, and hard to find facts here and there. Let's start with the new TB dongle; rumor for now, or at least all speculations. Lightake had posted a comment on their website, saying there was going to be a new replacement dongle coming soon, and goes even farther to say that the dongle will have additional support features. Does this mean TB Dongle v2.0, or does this just mean they are simply revising their dongle once again (TB Dongle v1.4?)?

True Blue JB2 was stopped producing but a newer replace DRM dongle with build-in ndw function will be released in July, please pay close attention to TB official site news update in recent days. Anyone who wants to talk about the upcoming dongle, just visit our forum via this link:
Also, I have received some more information from vitarelis, where a moderator for Lightake said the following:

I must say sorry to you guys because we suddenly received the notice, not only lightake but all shops have to stop selling TRUE BLUE JB2 Dongle. Now we got two choices: 1. keep waiting for ship the newest DRM dongle instead of the old one when it's released in July; 2. contact our customer service for a refund. BTW,We have pre-ordered hundreds of new dongle, lightake will get the first batch of goods in stock then.

Perhaps this does meaning TB is gearing up for round 2 of the dongle wars. TB vs E3 coming soon to theater near you (hint: it's a drama . But competition can be good, so let's get on to E3. The scene's inside connection with the underground teams, GaryOPA, has stated the following:

As I will be posting some great E3 news later this week. Also there been alot of work behind the scenes from three different groups in bringing finally some action to the ones that can't downgrade or are stuck on non-jailbreak-able market. -- The market for 3.55 is growing smaller everyday.
He mentions a third team, and I do not think he is talking about Cobra. I wonder who it will be. And as for the news, we will just have to wait and see. Here is some more information on E3, and the future of the scene, that I have put together.

E3, a team that has been in the scene since the late 3.41 JB era of the PS3, which has went on to develop methods to downgrades, and dual boot your consoles. We recently told you they were back, and better than ever before; meaning this time they brought gifts. And they also brought a list of goals which included bringing more EBOOT patches that anyone can, plus they have stated they are developing the next 4.20+ CFW themselves.

For those of you who were late for show, this scene really began when a dongle called the PS Jailbreak was released (which luckily was reversed pretty quickly), which helped users exploit the PS3 farther by releasing the first CFWs. These CFWs for 3.55 were put together but team work and communication, and now to this day it is what users have on their PS3s.

Now, it seems getting past the "4.11" hurdle has been everyone's attempt at their claim to fame, but with a team that works so closely with the PS3 consoles by offering multiple tools to the sceners.

Now here is where the tricky part comes in. For those of you who where with me when Sony started the lawsuit frenzy against PS Jailbreak, you know the PS3-Scene was in no way drama related; it was not until the free CFW came out that the scene filled with anger and hate. If this team does break that 4.11 barrier, a lot of people are going to be running to the scene to see what is happening.

I am predicting it, just look at my avatar, the year is PSX-SCENE a.d. v0.2!

And then when people have everything once again... are they still going to complain? Why they f***ing hate?!?!? At the end of the day, Sony is just going to try to patch the exploit, and people will start to whine and leave.

tthousand's tthoughts - I have been done with buying dongles for a long time now (last was Cobra), I would rather donate to the individuals helping make the scene dongle free. Devs likes CrashSerious, and oxt0xor. It is a shame with so many people using all the advances in the scene, these people who contribute absolute masterpieces do not get more credit(card) for their work. I think it is time we start thinking of better ways to promote our developers, that is the only way we can enhance the scene. Otherwise it is what it is, puzzled.

Im fine about them releasing a new dongle as long as the new stuff released for it work on the old one such as eboots and updates or that will be wrong and they will have really shot themselves in the foot. Maybe if they made the dongles at a better price they wouldnt have to worry about people cloning them. Problem is now that they are alienating all their customers by working on this dongle and not giving us eboots. Wish they would be more transparent with what they are doing and give us a little list on the games that they are having trouble cracking cos that must be the reason that not every game on the higher firmware hasnt been released

      God of War Ascension

After I saw these 100% Working!

First if they tell you what they can't crack that takes away from your ambition to purchase it in the hope that they will patch your game. secondly they don't make the eboots PARADOX does. thirdly them being the greedy F***s that they are I'd be willing to bet the new dongle will be mandatory!

I can only guest that next batch of eboot fixed are for the new dongle.I just don't understand why they think it's a good idea to bring out another new dongle.what's the point?it isn't like their not making any money on the current one.I'm sure a lot of people would still be buying if thet didn't stop the production.this move are just gonna pissed off many of us that already owned one.not everyone has extra dough to spend.

If keys for 4.11 are known, I would assume they would work on 4.11+ also. Then Sony would put out another FW that patches it.

Well, you've got the anti-dongle crowd claiming no dongle is required to run the patched eboots and it's only purpose is to act as a DRM device. They also claim they have "inside knowledge" of this fact, but have been claiming this since the TB was released and have shown zero proof.

For the most part the Dongle crowd (normal sceners in my eyes) mostly believe the hardware is necessary for the patching process while still implementing it's DRM (much like a SNES backup unit, but with shit compatibility).

Due to the fact the Dongle is closed source and no one can prove if it's needed or not I will not come to a decision until I see proof either way.

Although, if it is needed [speculation] for the eboot process then possibly a new revision of the TB or a compatible device is required due to changes with Sony's newer firmware.

With the E3 Team claiming to have cracked the TB and will be coming out with a similar product I am more inclined to believe the process isn't totally software based - for whatever reasons.

Personally, if I were to want a modification device for any console I would want it to support booting of the majority of games (like a SNES backup unit [they had their own format/DRM too]), but would not look two seconds at if it played a minority of titles.

E3 have pretty much proved it.... There really is no reason for the dongle.

Your post makes it looks like you're trying to be neutral, but are actually in denial that the dongle isn't needed and leaning towards TB's profiteering side.

honestly i hope the old dongles will still work fine not making the new one a mandatory buy. But honestly it would still be easier and cheaper than me going and getting even a used base 360 plus then what a xkey or wasabi. or just even flashing it. I dnt have a desktop anymore so my sata chipset that i used to flash my 360 back in the day can t be used on my laptop so i guess i would go with the new dongle. damn they got me again i guess. lol

This is the last time I'm gonna warn anybody about the personal attacks and talk about dildos. Anybody that wants to participate in the discussion is welcome to do so no matter what your point of view is. We've been able to have real discussions here for a while and I will not stand by and let that fall apart because of a handful of people that don't have basic conversation skills.

I promise that infractions/bans will follow. This is just getting tiresome

E3 Proved that 3.60 games can be played on 3.55 w/o a Dongle (Duplex anyone?). I've yet to see any 4.xx game eboots released, but I do indeed hope they are. Like I said I'm not going to base my entire judgement of Dongles on the fact their hardware may or may not be required until I know for sure and even after the fact I still have no problem with modification related products past, present and future. I've seen them all, heard all the BS, been there; done that. Personally I think the haters are hilarious and reading their conversations and justifications is just pristine. The PS3 scene is very entertaining.

Also ROFLx2 @ "denial" - like I care more about the Dongles then I do the ham sandwich I just ate and it's all a "BIG CONSPIRACY"!!!

Oh, the ham sandwich cost half of what a TB does.

Nobody would be releasing anything if it wasn't for TB. The only way of figuring it out is to crack open the TB dongle. That's my opinion. And please this is a ps3 scene not the xbox scene. The ps3 does alot more than a xbox. Can you copy a xbox game to your hdd, no. Do you have multiman, no.

Have you just not bothered to read anything about the TB before? It's pure drm. They decrypt the eboots, and reencrypt them with their own key. If they did not reencrypt them, you could use them just fine on any cfw. This isn't speculation, it's been known since day one.

Of course, since they figured out how to decrypt the eboots when no one else could, i don't see anything wrong with charging for that.
