Rogero Releases CEX 4.30 v2.03 Custom Firmware - Restores Install PKG Files Function

Rogero returns with another update to his 4.30 custom firmware for CEX consoles. If you thought that his firmware took a bad turn when the Install Package Files functionality was removed, then you might want to take that back. With this update, Rogero has reimplemented the function which works better than the original. Not only that, Rogero has squashed the bugs that were present in previous releases of his custom firmware

Rogero CEX 4.30 CFW v2.03 Changelog:

Rebuilt from scratch using OFW4.30 files only (no DEX/SEX files) with official XMB and full features working as in OFW4.30
All known problems like XMB icons sorting and Demo Mode issues from previous versions are now gone with the use of the official XMB.
New Improved "Install Package Files" Application added to XMB instead of using the traditional DEX Icon, to have a 100% original XMB.
- [* Install Package Files] function supports:
  - up to 256 pkg files
  - split pkg files
  - sorting
  - queued PKG indication (in red)
  - multipart (split) PKG indication (in yellow)
  - copy/transfer progress
  - Scanned locations: /dev_usb*** /dev_hdd0 /dev_bdvd in /PKG /packages and root folders
  - Split files format: .0 - .63 / .66600 - .66663 / .001 - .064
- CFW Structure fixed to match the OFW 4.xx Structure:
  - No more corrupted data error messages while Installing from XMB or Recovery Menu.
  - The CFW can be installed fine from XMB Update over any OFW3.55/CFW3.55/CFW4.21/CFW4.30.
  - HDD can be swapped/changed and the CFW4.30 v2.03 will re-install without any problem.
Patched LV1 to disable LV2 Protection.
Patched LV1 to add peek/poke support to replace hvc 182/183 (multiMAN Direct Disc Access is now working fine with CFW4.30 v2.03)
Patched LV1 to disable SYSTEM MANAGER INTEGRITY CHECK (to prevent Bricking on non-dehashed downgraded consoles)
Patched LV1 Core OS Hash Check (to prevent Bricking on non-dehashed downgraded consoles)
The CFW can be used directly for Downgrading with Hardware flashers /Flashing from FSM/Exiting from FSM, all works fine.
Patched LV2 to add peek/poke support. (for both LV1 and LV2)
Patched VSH to enable ReActPSN compatibility (Allow Unsigned act.dat and *.rif files, Disable Unlinking/Deleting of act.dat)
Spoofed the system version to latest OFW version 4.31.
PSN/SEN access is available as long as the current "passphrase" still the same.
Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.30 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
Current 3.55 homebrew applications can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21/4.30

As always, here are some guidelines from Rogero that you should follow when updating to a new firmware:

Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN before installing any CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a chance to recover when you have a valid dump.
- A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump may not fix your bricked PS3 **
The QA flag is better to be always Enabled on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations. Link ----> toggle_qa.pkg
Please Check the MD5 of the downloaded PUP file before installing any CFW to avoid possible bricks.
DO NOT HAVE DISC IN PS3 WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARES..As the PS3 will take the UPDATE from the DISC First.You need to be already on a 3.55OFW or 3.55CFW/4.21CFW/4.30CFW to install this. Installing from any OFW > 3.55 won't work. (Hardware Flasher needed)

In Addition, this release has been tested and can be installed from the XMB if that is your preferred method of updating.

hi guys,i need little help about loading the games

i install v 2.0 update over 1.04 over xmb and base multiman,update multiman and stealth multiman without any problems but i have problem loading the portal 2,dirt3 i getting error 80010017 and game sabouter also its stuck on red logo like loading forever, all 3 games worked perfectly on 1.04,are we loading all games like from v 1.04 (open multiman from xmb choose game and from xmb we can choose again game from the disc menu or the home app) or im missing something im little confused about stealth multiman,also i cant see install package file on xmb while game is loaded from multiman.

ps3 was originally on official 3.55 then kmeaw 3.55 then rogero 1.04 and now v2.0
any suggestion would be apriciated

HEY .ARE THE PKG FILES SIGNED FOR 4.20+ OR 4.30 CFW AND 3.55 CFW THE SAME...............
I AM ON ROGERO 4.30 V2.0 AND WANT TO MOD GTA 4 ONLINE BUT I AM CONFUSED WHICH PKG FILES TO USE ......plzz HELP ME GUYZZ .................

Figured I'd update from previous v2 because downgrading is no longer necessary. Sorting issue resolved, great! Installing packages now a major chore and a half...not so great.

So no homebrew working from <3.55? No FBA or Retroarch working on v2.03?
read through here and saw a mention of it.

Btw haven't made the switch from 3.55 to Rogero 4.30 v2.03 but greatly appreciative of his and Deank's efforts to allow us to enjoy our ps3's this much more so consistently over the years. Thank you all both for sharing the knowledge I lack, to be able to produce such a combo of apps.

Yeah I hate how we have to install packages on this CFW... The others, I would select the package, done, installed. Now, I have to scroll through my packages on a new GUI which scrolls slower, select the package, restart the PS3, press triangle on something on the XMB then select install....

It would be good if the old install package files was still there, as well as the new one for people who want to use it. I don't see a reason to remove the old one completely seems very strange to me.

hi guy im still on this cfw with install packages black screening on me. I have upgraded ofw 3.55 > regero 4.31. However after some additional research i have discovered that the i should have toggled QA flags before. i just have a few questions as i cannot execute homebrew or install packages. Nor do i have a nand backup as multiman is not installing.

Is it safe to enter factory mode with this firmware? or does it have to be cfw 3.55

If Yes Can i used the dongless method to enter factory mode and remarry bluray?

If i havent QA toggled flags, is this safe to downgrade to cfw 3.55 or ofw 3.55?

Once i have a married bluray, would homebrew and install package files work without blackscreen after exiting factory mode?

Ive currently got a brand new logic board and bluray drive - same model. However do not have original paired logic board. Thanks all help appriciated.

The reason it was removed is because it makes the CFW very unstable. And because 4.30 is so picky about modifying the GAME category, or something like that.

I hope it'll be fixed in future releases

thanks a lot Rogero it finaly works for me..
first i try to install downgrade 4.21-3.55 on a 3.41 cfw but then i end up on 4.21 cfw "mistake i had to update to 3.55 cfw in the first plays"
But wel i followed a video tutorial on youtube where it workt on a 4.21 cfw and every cfw .. not
then i install 4.30 cfw and end up on 2.76 ofw pffff no brik lucky me..
then i install 3.55 cfw and end up on 3.55 cfw and then install toggle and multiman 1.14.04 base
then i install 4.30 v2.03 and end up on 4.31 cfw cool every thing works great.
i only need a list of games that will work on internal hd i have 30 orginal games i all ready try bioshock 1 and 2 sonic unleased,skate,wolfenstein,clone wars,the darkness

Please Help!!

I was on Rogero CEX-4.30 CFW v1.00 and all was well. I experienced the ylod and had it repaired. When I got my ps3 back it was in demo mode and the wifi would not work at all and my controller would not sync to the ps3, it would only work plugged in. I decided to downgrade back to 3.55 ofw. I installed the 4.25to3.55 to downgrade to the hybrid version. It downloaded to the ps3, but when it started to install it quit at 68% and I received error 8002F147. Now it will do nothing but try to install it and quits at 68% everytime. I can't even go into safemod. If anyone has any idea what I can do help would be greatly appreciated!

Two more weeks and I'll be back home for a month our so. That should give this enough time to be tested pretty well.

Well....... I caved in!
Updated to the latest (ok, latest at the time) mM , tested it for a couple days then updated from kmeaw to this.

while I do have a fairly slow connection, it sure is nice to be able to update my backups to the latest version instead of having to wait to play updated versions on my OFW console back home.

Good work with no issues so far.

Hi all, same like some other guys who went from keamw 3.55 to this version rogero 4.30 v2.03, i need some advice.
Some older games like Modern Warfare 2, it just went into a black screen and hang, whilst other games that i need to install package in XMB such as Splinter Cell HD and Ratchet Full assualt, it just give me an error message 80010017.
Is this 'normal'? Whether yes or not, any solution to solve this, so that i could proceed with the backup games? I thought this newer version of CFW does not require me to get the eboot fix.

Hi there,

I am so sorry for the noob question, I am currently on 4.11 ofw. I used to be on 3.55 kmeaw custom firmware, then my dad bought me skyrim for the ps3 and I updated to play skyrim, and I later upgraded my firmware online again. Anyway, if I want to install this ps3 custom firmware on my ps3, what would i have to do? Oh and this is the latest custom firmware at the moment, correct?

So sorry for the noob question, I used to be up to date with everything going on in the ps3 custom firmware world but then I started studying and just got too busy, I didn`t even have time to play games lol. I would really appreciate if anyway could just take the time and explain to me what I have to do to install this custom firmware on my ps3.

From what I understand, you are going to need a hardware flasher and some accesories to allow you to downgrade to 3.55 again. Once you're back there you can then upgrade to rogero cfw.

quick question. i just upgraded to 4.3 v2 and i saw that hovering over app/home turns it into install .pkg, but how am i going to install .pkgs after i mount a game without going into mM to remount it? because when i tried loading AC3 from mM, the install .pkg no longer appears from app/home. any help would be greatly appreciated

hey i have a fat ps3 80gb CECHL04
when im on multiman or on xmb or when im ingame my ps3 freezes randomly!
the video just freezes but the music in the background still works
im on rogero 4.30 V2.00 and have latest mM installed

think it would be great to enable ext2/3/4 or similar or ntfs, exfat on external. also no need for original disc.
and boot directly to multiMAN, no reboots.
