Rogero CFW V2 with Better Downgrade Compatibility

Rogero is back with an update to his recently released MFW for 3.70 downgraded consoles. The previous version was created using PS3MFW Builder and OFW v3.55, while this new version has been put together using Kmeaw, with the fail0verfl0w methods. Also announced, Rogero Manager v8.5 designed specifically for Rogero CFW V2 will be released soon. For more information, here is the latest release statement from PS3 'scene' developer, Rogero.

This is a better optimized version of the previous MFW released, This one is a Custom firmware built manually by patching and packing the files and the final PUP package using the well known "fail0verfl0w " public set of tools and having "Kmeaw" as the base firmware unlike it's previous version which was a Modified firmware built using the famous MFW builder application and using an OFW3.55 as the base firmware.

Usage / Compatibility:

Can be used for Downgrade directly as a replacement of the no_check.PUP to avoid the "Trophies error".
Can be used for normal system update like any other CFW/MFW from XMB or from Recovery Menu.

Internal Structure:

Kmeaw patched Lv2 with necessary patches to allow Peek/Poke support (same games compatibility as Kmeaw CFW)
Dospiedra's LV1 patches necessary to bypass the Syscon checks for downgraded consoles. (same as no_check.PUP)
Built-in system version spoof to 3.70 to prevent accidental system updates (won't allow going online in any way)
Privacy Patch was not applied like previous version to allow Game updates (can be added easily using MFW builder)
Custom Boot Logo.
built-in "Heavy Rain" dynamic theme.

History:
After several days and more testing of the first MFW released for downgrading from 3.70-->3.55, I had some users feedback from #progskeet-support that some PS3 machines are having either the Registry Corrupted/Blue Screen or just a Black Screen after downgrade that required re-installing the MFW from Recovery Menu or reflashing the NOR in some cases.

Further research about the donwgrade V2 patches and the no_check.PUP with some more testing showed that a Kmeaw based LV2 seems to have better compatibility with the Downgrade patches applied to the NOR image then a MFW built with a patched LV2, so I decided to build a new version manually which is a custom firmware that combines Kmeaw LV2 patches with Dospiedras Lv1 no-check patches and having the minimal/necessary set of patches to preserve the best overall stability.

N.B: please note that Rogero Manager v8.5 (to be released soon) or newer are only compatible with this CFW V2, because the CFW have the built in version spoofed to 3.70 and older versions of the Manager (8.4 and lower) can't recognize it and won't be able to load the necessary payload.

I'm using PS3Ultimate CFW with Rebug 3.70 spoof. Will Rogero Manager v8.5 be compatible ? I ask because I get a lot of game freezing with Kmeaw.

Sounds like 8.4 is not compatible with RFWv2, so that is why there is a need for 8.5. That is my understanding.

i download this file but when i try to unzip it ists asking 4 a password? anyone help?

I don't get it ? So with this FW it is easier to downgrade from 3.7 to 3.55 or is it a mfw for 3.7 to play backups ?

Downgrading from 3.70 to 3.55 damages the console a little. This FW repairs it.

Most likely yes if the 3.70 spoof version is installed ..wait & see. We really want to see a new rogero manager with more functions, more languages & a better diskless mode.

dudes, one question. With this cfw can i downgrade a ps3 with 3.70 to 3.55 without pkgskeet?

i think this work this ways: in a 3.70 ps3 i install this cfw and after i can install the kmeaw. is this right?

It's a PUP file not a zip file dude. You don't extract it, you use it just like you do with a firmware update file.

If this CFW was possible without ProgSkeet, that would mean it is Solderless, which would mean we finally had a breakthrough in the PS3 Scene, which would Naturally mean this would be the first thing to be written in this Article....

So to answer your question: NO. You cannot do this without ProgSkeet, or E3 Flasher, for this matter.

And it doesn't work that way. Don't think, it's bad for you. You just wait for someone to make a version that is solderless or easier to understand, then take it.

Hi everyoneI have a ps3 backwards compatible 60g stuck at 3.41, because the previous owner tried to update to 3.55 and the console was spoofed with 3.56. Every time I try to update from xmb, it shows me an error and when I try update from recovery menu it tells me that i should use 3.56 update or higher. There would be any risk using this cfw made by rogero to update my ps3? and then downdgrade with qa flags if they are compatible?. i need to downgrade again because blueray playback is broken.I cant use the solution published some time ago since a blueray movie was never played on this ps3. I know I can downgrade using a jailbreak but i do not have one and buy one around here is pretty expensive. I have another ps3 no bc on 3.41 and i am thinking if copy flash 1 2 and 3 to ps3 bc would solve the problem?thanks for your help!

letrange, u have to downgrade to ofw 3.40, and then from the xmb install ofw 3.41, so u will be able to install ofw3.55 and so get finally the CFW 3.55!

What dionatangg is saying you ARE going to need a JB device (dongle, dev board, iPod, TI-84, PSP, etc.) to perform a downgrade, you could try this but I doubt it will do you any good.

this is to be used with a Nand/Nor Flasher to help prevent the trophy error after downgrade

If you can get Rebug CFW 3.41.3 on your system, you should be able to updage to OFW 3.55 from there. I would go to rebug.me, and download the 3.41 CFW, and try to install it, either in XMB or RECOVERY.

I know you can downgrade from the 3.55 to 3.41 using rebug's CFW, and skip the OFW 3.40 step, so I assume if you have to use SERVICE mode, you can use that CFW instead of the 3.40 OFW if you want.

I think h+is problem here is his PS3 was downgraded from 3.55 using Factory/Service and the old 3.41(3.56) pup and the only way to fix it would be to further downgrade in Factory/Service and then upgrade (hence no BD Playback)

No this Firmware is for after you have already downgraded. Its a 3.55 MFW with a patch that fixes that get a trophy error that people are getting from the downgrade.

quick question Rogero since this uses KMEAW as a base then that means that it doesn't have the application launcher patch the PS3MFW has and KMEAW doesn't right?
