Rogero has updated his 4.30 CFW to version 1.03. Where he has reverted back to the original Cinavia files. See the changelog below of the reason and changes to v1.03.

- Removed the Cinavia Disabled files and reverted back to the original files due to some Video Playback problems detected.

Rogero has updated his CFW 4.30 to version 1.02. This updates adds 'Cinavia Disable' function, adds multiMAN 04.10.00 support, Add the new simple to install PlayStation home fix, as well addressing a number of small bug fixes you can see all the changes below.

Changelog for version 1.02

The PS3~dev_blind.zip fix is now Pre-patched in the PUP itself.
Fixed the bug of "Corrupted Data" on installation from Recovery encountered by some users.
Added the Cinavia Disabled files into the PUP.
Updated multiMAN to the latest 04.10.00 build in the package.
Added the new simple to install PlayStation home fix to the package too.

PlayStation 3 Developer Rogero has updated his CFW to 4.30 v1.00 making another 4.30 CFW option. After E3's 4.30 cfw also released recently. This release comes as a Triple Pack that includes Rogero CEX-4.30 v1.00 CFW & compatibility for multiMAN ver 04.08.01 + Showtime 04.01.208. Keep a watch @ Rogero's Official Release thread via Tortuga-Cove for any changes before installing. RISK are involved with installing any new CFW. Use at your own risk and with caution if you do not have a Hardware Flasher to easily recover from a brick if one were to occur.

This CFW was tested on most PS3 Models by different testers and no problems were encountered.
But as any CFW release you must install it with caution and by following proper instructions, No one will be held responsible for any damage caused.

Rogero CEX-4.30 v1.00 Details

Compatibility problem with some PS3 models is now fully fixed.
XMB Icons problem from in-game PS button is now fixed. (Using the Patch included in the package: "PS3~dev_blind.zip")
PSN/SEN access is available as long as the current "passphrase" still the same.
Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
It was tested by hundreds of testers on all PS3 models (FAT & Slim) and no problems were encountered.
It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.30 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
Current 3.55 homebrew applications can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21/4.30

ATTENTION:

1- This CFW doesn't have LV1 checks disabled and can't be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles unless you have Dehashed/Reset Syscon Properly (if you're not sure about your PS3, Dehash it anyway to avoid any risk) Link ----> Dehashing Tutorial

2- Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN or memdump before installing any CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a way to recover (using hardware flashers) when you have a valid dump.
** A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump may not fix your bricked PS3 **

3- The QA flag must be always Enabled on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations. Link ----> toggle_qa.pkg

4- Always use the Recovery Menu while installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks (XMB update works, but Recovery Menu is safer).

6- Please Check the MD5 of the downloaded PUP file before installing any CFW to avoid possible bricks.

7- DO NOT HAVE DISC IN PS3 WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARES..As the PS3 will take the UPDATE from the DISC First.

8- You need to already be on 3.55 to install this. Installing from any firmware other than 3.55 will simply not work

UPDATING FROM CFW 3.55 to CFW 4.30 --- CLICK TO READ

- Updating from CFW3.55/4.21 to the CFW4.30 v1.00 should be done using the following steps :
1- Proper Way ( CFW4.21 --> CFW3.55 --> CFW4.30 )
---- Downgrade back to ver3.55 using the guide above.
---- Once on Rogero CEX3.55 v3.7 you can update again from Recovery Menu into the new CFW4.30 v1.00.

2- Alternative Way #1 ( CFW4.21 --> XMB Update --> CFW4.30 )
---- You can try updating from CFW4.21 to CFW4.30 v1.00 from XMB by using the "System Update --> Update via Storage Media".
---- If it didn't work, then you'll have to use the Alternative Way #2.

3- Alternative Way #2 ( CFW4.21 --> Recovery Menu --> CFW4.30 )
---- You can try updating from CFW4.21 to CFW4.30 v1.00 from Recovery Mode.
---- If it didn't work, then you'll have to use the first Proper Way ( CFW4.21 --> CFW3.55 --> CFW4.30 )

- Changing/Upgrading the HDD while on Rogero CFW4.30 should be done using the following steps :
- Download the Downgrader PUP ---> Downgrader PUP mirror ---> Downgrader PUP
Size 176MB (184,595,263 bytes) MD5: 49d80e07fc1f5ca1b0840e02e94635db
- Rename the downloaded file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" and put it on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- Swap the current HDD with the New HDD, Turn the PS3 on, follow screen instructions and let it install the Downgrader CFW.
- After the Downgrader CFW installs you'll be on a hybrid CFW3.55 that will still shows ver4.21 from system settings.
- Enable QA flag by following these steps:

Download the Rebug QA_Toggle package from here ---> toggle_qa.pkg
Put the "toggle_qa.pkg" on USB and Install it on the PS3.
Run the "Rebug Toggle QA" from XMB, the screen will go Black and you will see HDD Led activity then if all went fine you will hear 2 or 3 Beeps and the PS3 will Restart back to XMB.
If you want to make sure QA flag was set, go to "Network Settings" then apply the following key combo (all at the same time):

L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down

You should see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files if done correctly.

- Now put "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP" ---> Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" (from Recovery Menu, this is important)
- Once you're back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install any CFW 3.55/4.21/4.30.

Useful Hint: you can simply use CondorStrike's Updater package from XMB to enter Recovery Menu directly from XMB without going through several restart/shutdown sequences. --> Condor Updater v2.0

It should be blatant why it is working. You installed an update... So obviously the eboot in the update is being used not the TB one.

I'm here to say I fixed my problem. Long story so if anyone had the same issue contact me at at this account just hit me a message.

My issue: I had a blank Blue Screen. When I press X it turns black and it never comes back (waited a day). Again, the solution is a long story so if you have this problem let me know and you will get it back!

It feels good when you brake something and fix it

I checked lots of messages as well as some pages on this thread, but haven't stumbled on some definitive answers to my questions, so... I beg your pardon if they've been answered before, or if I haven't unterstood some stuff.

1. So, is upgrading finally, 99,9% safe for us with good ol' fat models? Will I have to worry only about lightning strikes or alien invasions, or is still upgrading included in the list of possible impeding catastrophes?

2. I'm on KMeaws CFW. Never touched my PS3 since. Now, if I remember correctly, the only thing i'd done was use a custom bootloader for my smartphone, connect it to my PS3 to pass to it an exploit through a payload (most users did it with a modded usb drive those days) and after fumbling with some options, I had KMeaws CFW installed. Now, I'm reading that I have to QA Flag or something to upgrade, to do the equivalent of a backup of my installed firmware (don't know how - guess the info is on tortuga cove with Rogeros new CFW), it's better to use a factory mode... What gives? Yes, I've visited tortuga cove and read the info there. Problem is, it mentions downgrading from 4.21 to 3.55 and then upgrading to 4.30. Since I'm already on 3.55, do I "skip step 1"? Do I still have to do the backups and QA flags that were mentioned?

3. I saw some mention that "nothing is lost after the upgrade", others mentioning that somehow they had to reformat and lose their games, others asking about savegames... Is there a final, definitive, all-inclusive answer on "what is lost, what is not", i.e. "you lose your pirated PSN downloads, you filthy pirate you, but you win support for your original 4.3+ firmware blu-rays"... Or something...

4. OK, Rogeros 4.30 CFW seems to be compatible enough to be the new firmware of choice. But... _ARE_ there any good'ol games that don't work, and probbably never work, on it? I mean, in the vein that "ah, that one does have some problems, could be patched, but probbably never will 'cause it's old" - like old retro games from the DOS era running under Windows 7.

Hei... I was on 4.21 V1 and all of my games working fine, but, when I update to 4.30, the game menu on XMB doesn't organize by folder anymore and same games doesn't work. What's gonna happening?

Do some reading for a start, i updated my fat60gb from Rebug 3.55.2 straight to Rogero 4.30 with no problems and without asking any questions. some people just like to be spoonfed on here, are you another spoonfed child :-)

Yeah it is crazy. The same question, his being one of them gets asked over and over because they just refuse to read. A little reading would mean he could get it installed and working before someone replies.

i cant seem to figure this one out i have the 4.21 Rogero v1.00 installed on my ps3 i went to install this from recovery menu and it keeps telling me the data is corrupted i have tried redownloading and 3 different usb devices still the same result

I managed to solve my problem here, everything working perfectly now.
I'll tell you what happened to me, perhaps to serve somebody.
I forgot to take out the disc of the PS3 for some reason he was damaging something in the updates.
Then I realized, I removed it and now is working very well.
Thanks to those who helped me here and once again thanks Rogero!! hahahahahaa

Alright. Before I go into details I need to make sure you have the requirements in order for my solution to work.

If you have those let me know. P.S. If you don't have 2 ps3's you go to your friends house and do this. It will do nothing to your friend's PS3 nor his HDD. All it is, is to fix your HDD because the Hard Drive is the cause of this problem but again I can tell you how to fix it if you can confirm that you have the requirements.

You should always read the description. Don't get butt hurt because you had to go read it. Usually, if I can help someone I do but I am not going to spoon feed people and hold their hand for something that is right there in the very article they are commenting in. The same question keeps getting asked over and over, if it isn't in the description it is probably in the comments.

Why all the secrecy? If he has the requirements or not you should still explain here in the comments so other people can come along and fix theirs straight away instead of them asking you and then waiting for a reply. There isn't really a reason to keep holding it off.
