  • RetroArch v0.9.8 Unofficial MOD by CaptainCPS-X

Retro gaming enthusiast and Playstation 3 Developer CaptainCPS-X. Has decided to look at the code of RetroArch to see if his coding experience could help in anyway to improving RetroArch. Today he has released his first UNOFFICIAL MOD to the recently released RetroArch 0.9.8 official. This mod fixes issues with ROM(s) not loading correctly on multiMAN. Please Keep in mind this is a UNOFFICIAL MOD so please any issues related to this patch please do not bother the RetroArch/multiMAN Developers. Check below at the Release Quote from CaptainCPS-X.

    Release Quote from CaptainCPS-X
Hiyas everyone here I bring you my own build of RetroArch with a nice ROM(s) loading fix, and as a bonus I included SNES9X-NEXT (LIBRETRO CORE) and FB ALPHA (LIBRETRO CORE) builds compiled/signed by me.

Loading of ROM(s) can be done directly from multiMAN (retro column) or other external method now. This should work on CFW 3.40 to 4.XX without problems.

Here is the README.txt with more detailed info:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    RetroArch v0.9.8 (PS3/CFW 3.40-4.XX/Unofficial)(MOD by CaptainCPS-X)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    [R1]

This modified build fixes issues with ROM(s) not loading
correctly on multiMAN or other external methods.

As a bonus I included a working builds of:

    - SNES9X-NEXT (LIBRETRO CORE)
    - FB ALPHA (LIBRETRO CORE)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    [Instructions]

1- Install official RetroArch v0.9.8 on your PS3.
2- Install the PKG included here (you MUST do step 1 first).
    3- Enjoy!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    [Note]

Do not bother Squarepusher / TwinAphex / TheMaister or any of
the official RetroArch developers if you find any problems
    with this build.

    This is a unofficial release.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    [Thanks to]

The original LibRetro / RetroArch developers / contributors who have
made this application a great free homebrew.

And thanks to the original developers who wrote the core of each
    emulator (arcade/console/handleheld/etc).

Thanks to everyone else that I missed here and really deserves
    credit

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
I will release the code modifications later, I been all day/night messing with code and I need to take some rest (sleep xD), but later I'll get in touch with RetroArch devs to share my "quick" fix for the ROM(s) loading issue.

    Enjoy!

    SeeYa!

Could be an issue with the MOD with the SNES core but i think we may have it sorted. Will keep you posted.

Just beware of a SNES issue

Anyone else having an issue with CPS1/CPS2 games? ie. Final Fight, breakable items such as boxes or barrels are "floating" causing the player to blend into them.

I don't have the absolute latest romset, but it's certainly not that old. Maybe ~3 months back. Anyone else having this issue? I'll have to obtain the latest set and try again, just seems weird.

      I know fixed

First there was a small issue with the mod.
Then when that was fixed the official link went down.

Didn't work for me on Rogero 4.30.

Rogero is a pain to sign for, while keeping compatibility with other CFWs

      Replace this eboot after installing.

if you didnt get an error code when starting then you have to be a bit more descriptive then saying it "dont work" but if it was an error code that should fix the issue.

Well, its just as usual... It doesn't boot the roms direct from multiman, as if nothing changed. Other then the snes core which doesn't work after installing these pkgs. I'll try replacing the eboot though, thanks.

Running latest Rebug 4.21.2, works loading the first rom. Subsequent loading of another rom from mm loads only the core and not the game......

      Started MM
      Started FBA rom
      Game loads as expected
Pressed right thumb stick....returned to MM
Started NES rom, FCEU core loads but not game

FYI - both links are going to the same file......

I will let CaptainCPS-X know the issues.

I know one issue that is still present and its been like this for awhile on a few builds if you boot a rom in multiMAN the try to change cores you get a black screen freeze.(running rom then changing core in RA)

Now NES may have an issue that CaptianCPS-X may of over looked i will have to talk to him. but now there are two NES cores. FCEU and NESTOPIA. There needs to be a way for multiMAN and/or this mod to decide which one to use..

Well, its just as usual... It doesn't boot the roms direct from multiman, as if nothing changed. Other then the snes core which doesn't work after installing these pkgs. I'll try replacing the eboot though, thanks.
eboot wont fix that. i dont know what the issue is. if eboot was the issue you would of an error

Yeah... I just went back to the beta build. All cores and boot from multiman working good on there...Idk what improvements official 9.8 brought. Might as well just stick to this build.

Same problem with GBA as with NES due to the addition of gambatte. It gets confused and then just boots up the core but not the game.

EDIT: Genesis is messed up too, only Snes and FBA work, at least for me. On Rebug 4.21.2

You are a bit incorrect there.
That pkg is 0.9.8 Beta 3, (not the official 0.9.8) some cores work with multiMAN.
      but these do not.
      Mednafen_VB
      Mednafen_neo_pop
      Mednafen_PSX

Also the nestopia Core is not included in that pkg.

However if one would want the nestopia core they can remove/save it from the official 0.9.8 release and add it to the cores folder of that release.(that core will not be supported by multiMAN either)
