I would like to say thanks for this method. As some people have said this is not new news. I think so. Yeah #ps3bluray delegated the previous method for whatever blu ray you remembered updated it (thanks arrod, I remember talking with you about uploading drls for people, which was genuinely nice and useful for others thanks, and f*ck the flaming idiots man). Ive been unfortunate as all I've had was a phat from a friend who didn't know what he's played. Anyways, helps me and many friends who don't know exactly what blu ray update you had. I just got a different blu-ray drive type as a replacement for a console about a month ago, and in downgrading there was something I used to re-marry the ODD, as well as rebuild the database (by playing a recent blu-ray movie). Still, more tools are always welcome, I suppose

Hello all, I was one of the people that had a ps3 that was purchased and had no idea what the last blu ray played prior to downgrade so I lost playback. As I didnt know what was played the the original fix (DRLgen etc) was useless. I have attempted this fix and I can confirm it does work and I can successfully play Disney Up! which is MKB version 16. However..... When I then update to Keamw CFW, Blu Ray playback is lost again. I have used the DRLgen but I cant get DRLcopy & DRLgenerate to run on the ps3, I did try to FTP the new DRL files but playback is still prohibited. Can anyone help?

I would advise at this point until I continue experimenting to stay on OtherOS++.Multiman etc all work fine in it.

First, yes, if you click on a single button in PS3MFW you can generate the same thing that you have released as your own work.
Secondly, when I released PS3MFW, I specifically requested that NOBODY ever releases a .PUP generated by ps3mfw.. if people are to install p3mfw-generated pup files, then they should generate them themselves. I even fought with some idiots who didn't think my opinion meant anything (even though I founded the project). Just take from others and not give back, way to go community!
Third, What you released (and got money from on top of that) was illegal, I wrote PS3MFW (with an0nym0us) for the sole purpose of having a legal way of creating custom firmwares, you download the official PUP that sony provides, and you modify it locally. You are not authorized to distribute that PUP because you are not the copyright owner of that firmware, and you cannot distribute a modified version of it legally either.
Fourth, IF you actually had anything resembling a brain and that you did in fact create something yourself, in other words, you had your own custom tasks that you used with PS3MFW which makes your 'NFW' somehow 'unique', then you are again a real virus, a cancer to the scene, because you have not read nor respected the copyright license of PS3MFW which is GPL, and which means that ANY tasks written for it MUST also be released under the GPL license. I have not seen you send any patches to the PS3MFW project, and have not seen you release any ps3mfw tasks under the GPL license, so you are infringing on our GPL license.
Finally, you used other's work, used none of your own skills and tried to make a name for yourself without doing things the right way, without respecting other's work, you are a leech, you are a cancer in the scene, and your name is not worth mentioning.

For all these reason, you deserve absolutely no respect from me, from CrashSerious, or from anyone for that matter, and if I were you (i.e. if I had no integrity), I would honestly shut up, crawl back into the hole I came from, and try to live my life with at least a minimum of self respect.
As such, I would kindly ask you to STFU, and that when people tell you to STFU, that you actually do it instead of "taking offense", because you of all people, know that you deserve it, and you have no right to argue with anyone who is clearly, mentally superior to you (or at least, has more integrity than you do).

p.s: You took 250$ from that stupid contest for this 'work' that you've 'done' (poor little baby, you probably bruised your finger after you clicked that button), and even after being asked to give that money to the people who actually deserve it (humblehomebrew (or its charity), the graf_chokolo defense fund, or the actual developers of the PS3MFW project who allowed you to 'win' that money), you didn't do nothing. On top of that, you go make an 'interview' (as if you were some hotshot developer), and you failed to even mention or thank the developers who actually sacrificied months of their lives to write the tool you just clicked on.
Remember, clicking on a button does not make you a developer, it only makes an end user, like the thousands out there... and trying to look like a dev for it doesn't make you a dev either, it just makes you a jerk.

Now go STFU and run into hiding.

I recently had the issue of blu-ray playback. Being one of the testers of the LV2v2 3.55 Downgrade. I didn't realize that the blu-ray was locked out. Then remembered that I made a back up of the dev_flash3/data-revoke * All

Saved my blu-ray playback. Was easier then doing this method. Copied the folders/files to a flash drive copied them back onto the 3.55 MFW and viola! FF Spirits withen played with out a hitch.

This method was intended for the people who dont know the last bdvd before downgrade or couldn't back up those files in time... Unfortunately for me the guy who had mine had no idea what last bluray was played and updated to 3.50 to play medal of honor....such a pitiful waste to 'unhack' for. I'd understand if it was dark souls or somethin'. Jeez.....lol

how can u tell if its a broken blu ray drive or if uv jost lost ur playback capabilities ?( when i insert a disk in i get the blue light but i cant see the disk )

Give more info. Did u downgrade? What fimeware u using? Have change or update mm?

i didnt downgrade, i was on 3.55 org firmware when i moded the console to 3.55 cfw kmeaw( still on this fw); by mm u mean multiman ?(if so i do remember modifing a setting that had something to do with deleting or hiding the history of games played or something like that)

I can confirm that it does work. I had to downgrade from 3.55>3.41 special>3.15>OtherOS++ then after QA PKG installed the Bluray worked straight away. Not a 100% perfect solution but very close in second place. Thanks!

Now if this particular fix allows restoring kmeaw's 3.55 after performing the fix and retaining bluray playback (which unfortnately AnimetronkiZz's cfw doesn't) then I'd be more than happy to try it.

So the QA method doesn't update the drive HRL but does update the DRLs only like a 16mb one, is this correct?
