Rebug Team Releases Updated Toolbox & REX CFW!

After lurking in the shadows comes a welcomed update from the Rebug team. This action packed update brings 4.30 DEX to their great list of custom firmwares. The updates also includes the rebirth of Toggle QA, now compatible with an abundant amount of custom firmwares, to those who downgraded their PS3's from FW 3.56/3.60. Changelog REBUG 4.30.2 REX Edition:

Added DEX LV2 Kernel to STANDARD edition

For all you REX lovers we have finally added 4.30 to the family. As usual it has all the features you have come to expect from REBUG FIRMWARE.

NOTE: Be sure to install Rebug Toolbox 02.01.02 that is included in the PUP for full compatibility in DEX mode.

Changelog REBUG Toolbox 02.01.02:

4.30 DEX Support
Better Support for non-REBUG CFW
Backup/Restore of xRegistry
Toggle QA support for all 3.55/4.21/4.30/4.31 CFW
Bug that stopped LV2 kernel from being reloaded more than once from dev_flash

Finally got Toggle QA up and running.. Sorry about the delay but because of the way lv1 has been patched in the recent 431 CFW's it causes certain parts of the hypervisor to be out by 0x1000 bytes and it was a bit of a pain in the ass to make it universal... BUT WE DID..

This also means that now users on minimum version 3.56/3.60 PS3's that used a flasher to install CFW can now enjoy the benefits of QA.

Rogero is closer to a stock XMB while Rebug is more customized. Alot of it is down to personal preference, unless you specifically want/need the DEX mode. Personally, after Kmeaw I went straight to Rebug and never had any issues with it so I never really played around with Rogero.

i think rebug has an easier time with older games or something, too. i could be wrong though. plus, if you couldn't tell, rebug is updated a lil bit and usually it's features over fixes.

Okay. N00b question is...which is DEX and CEX? I'm pretty certain CEX is what i have, and if i understand it, CEX meant cusumer consoles, right? if so, can i use REX and not touch DEX?

I really doubt you would be able to make your system DEX without knowing what It is, so relax, you're on CEX.

I am not sure If I should upgrade from 4.30 Rebug to REX edition. All my games work fine, I play BF3 online from time to time. I don't think I need DEX, should I update? Opinion please.

Safest probably would be to downgrade back to 3.55 Rebug, Install 3.55OFW, then install 4.30.2 fresh. That's what'd I'd do. A few steps but simple and clean enough. That's what I did to go from 4.21 REX to 4.30 REX. So I at least know that method works and don't feel like time is wasted with the extra steps.

I assume this would work for this situation too. I still have the Rebug install instructions and they say

INSTALL: From XMB install REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER over any 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW or the same or lower firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched or any firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled.
UNINSTALL: From XMB REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER can be uninstalled with the same or higher firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW or with REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION on a QA enabled PS3 or with the ’999′ DOWNGRADER if QA was NOT enabled.

So, yeah. Maybe there is a faster way but, yeah, seems the safest to me IMO.

I agree with you. It may not be necessary but if you want the extra things he's added then yes. Otherwise, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Just my opinion though. I'll probably still upgrade though .

Just updated from Rebug 4.30 to Rex edition from XMB without a glitch. My system seems to run smoother now. Thank you Rebug

Installed directly via XMB from Rebug 4.21.2 without any issue.
And GOW:Ascension that only worked with duplex patch, now runs without issues after updating to official 1.02 patch.

I started from Rebug's 4.21.1 in DEX mode. I'm a noob, this is what I did:

1. Put my old CEX.EID0.NORBIN and DEX.EID0.NORBIN files in the root of my external hdd, and Rebug's 4.30.2 PUP in \PS3\UPDATE.
2. Plugged my external hdd in right usb port.
3. Turned on PS3, opened Rebug Toolbox, navigated to "CEX/DEX", then "Rewrite Target ID in Flash". Automatic reboot.
4. Updated to 4.30.2 REX through XMB.
5. Installed the latest Rebug Toolbox, opened it, then Rewrite Target ID in Flash, auto reboot, swapped LV2 Kernel to DEX, etc etc.

Now I'm in 4.30.2 DEX mode.

and I have another problem, yeah , I have my CEX flash, but I have 5 of them;
and EACH one have a different md5 hash, ;(

Updated from REBUG 4.21.2 CEX through XMB. Smooth as butter.
Never touched the DEX mode. No need for now.

ok i used the new rebug toolbox on rex 4.21 and enabled qa flag but i can't get the button combo to work...does it not work anymore..., on network settings (not in) press l1 l2 l3 r1 r2 down on dpad...am i doing it right?

i think it's r3, not l3 and i am mostly positive you need to push start.

i could be completely wrong, but maybe try that out or something.
