  • Rebug Team Releases Updated Toolbox & REX CFW!

After lurking in the shadows comes a welcomed update from the Rebug team. This action packed update brings 4.30 DEX to their great list of custom firmwares. The updates also includes the rebirth of Toggle QA, now compatible with an abundant amount of custom firmwares, to those who downgraded their PS3's from FW 3.56/3.60. Below you can find all the details posted by Cyberskunk from the ps3crunch forums.

    Changelog REBUG 4.30.2 REX Edition:
    • Added DEX LV2 Kernel to STANDARD edition

For all you REX lovers we have finally added 4.30 to the family. As usual it has all the features you have come to expect from REBUG FIRMWARE.

NOTE: Be sure to install Rebug Toolbox 02.01.02 that is included in the PUP for full compatibility in DEX mode.
    Changelog REBUG Toolbox 02.01.02:
    • 4.30 DEX Support
    • Better Support for non-REBUG CFW
    • Backup/Restore of xRegistry
    • Toggle QA support for all 3.55/4.21/4.30/4.31 CFW
    • Bug that stopped LV2 kernel from being reloaded more than once from dev_flash

Finally got Toggle QA up and running.. Sorry about the delay but because of the way lv1 has been patched in the recent 431 CFW's it causes certain parts of the hypervisor to be out by 0x1000 bytes and it was a bit of a pain in the ass to make it universal... BUT WE DID..

This also means that now users on minimum version 3.56/3.60 PS3's that used a flasher to install CFW can now enjoy the benefits of QA.
Be sure to check out the official Rebug website for downloads and all the details pertaining this release. Thanks team Rebug for yet another great release!

Great work as always by Team Rebug. Installed fine over 4.30.1 as usual.
I went ahead and reworked the 4.30 Update Guide to stay current

I did not understand correctly this part:

This also means that now users on minimum version 3.56/3.60 PS3's that used a flasher to install CFW can now enjoy the benefits of QA.

Does it mean that users now--which had before starting firmware 3.56/3.60 ---so they can downgrade from 4.31 just using QA????

Also did developers brake the 3.56--I mean can CFW now be installed on 3.56/3.60 ????

      Can someone explain please....

It means that we can enable QA on Ps3's that came with 3.56 or 3.60 installed thats it (with a flasher also). We need bootloader2 keys still. 3000 and 4000 ps3 have bootloader2. Also the reason we need to downgrade to 3.55 to install 4.xx cfw's is because we have the private key up to 3.55. Sony now changes the private key randomly which they should of done in the first place

Yes it works fine just make sure the BD drive is empty. I also switched from Rebug to Normal mode to turn off the spoof just to be extra safe but I don't think it would matter.

Use mM to flash your CEX NORFLASH back to your PS3, then you can install 4.30.2 after reboot. That is how I did it about 20min ago and working great. I didn't test my 4.21 kernel I just made a new one with c2d and got my BD-EMU working again. Was quite easy to do and only takes a few seconds. Rebug toolbox would not flash back my NOR flash so I had to use mM but it only took a few extra seconds.

Worked just fine for me, I have went from CEX to DEX three times now this way without a single problem. Make sure your NOR dump is vaild before doing so but not sure how you would do that being on a DEX kernel now. I dumped mine 5 times to make sure the MD5's matched every time. Once I was sure I was using a vaild flash it takes no more then 10 seconds to go from DEX to CEX.

Where do you think I got that from? A guide right here on this very site. The search function works WONDERS if used.

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f290/cex...-yayes-106942/ (Cex To Dex To Cex Tutorial by yayes)

      Revert Back To Cex
      1. install 4.21 DEX OFW then install multiman CEX (Latest)
      2. then Flash You Console Using mM Flash Cex You previously dumped
      3. turn off your PS3 Using Controller PS3 (Don't Turn OFF Using Power Button)
      4. Then Power on Your Console Using power button
      5. install 4.21 CEX PUP from XMB

      Then just upgrade to 4.30.2

I just bypassed all that but flashing a known good NORBIN, then installed Rebug 4.30.2 over my 4.21.2 REX. Did this to all three of my systems today and all went smooth as silk and took under 5min for each.

      then I should do this:

1.- Reflash back to cex being in REBUG 4.21 REX CFW in dex mode
      2.- Install REBUG CFW 4.30

      how you install over 4.30.1???
    1. atreyu187's Avatar

Just update if already on 4.30.1 tha tis it, and if you just re-install 4.21.2 REX over it when in DEX mode you will cause a brick. You have to set your EID0 back to CEX before doing so. That is why I said flash to a DEX OFW then use a 10000% verified NORBIN from your deck to change the EDI0 back to CEX mode then install 4.21 CEX OFW and from there go to 4.30.2. I will gladly make a video showing how easy it is to do.

What do you guys recommend: Rogero 4.30 CEX, or Rebug 4.30.2 REX??
I always wanted to know the pros and the cons between both of them.
      Thank you all!

But if I install the official 4.21 CEX OFW I wont be able to install CFW, because... its 4.21 OFW.., you are trying yo say that, anywone with 4.21 OFW can jailbreak their consoles.. and that is not possible
