  • QA Flagging Mode Tool (PKG) Released

A few days ago, courtesy of an anonymous source, we were pleased to bring users the remaining steps needed to enable QA mode on their consoles. However, at that time, it was still a difficult process and only intended for advanced users. Today, users will no longer have to worry about being technically inclined, in order to enable QA mode. Glevand, a developer on gitbrew, brings us an app that simplifies the entire QA process.

The process has been so simplified, that even the most novice of users will be able to enable the mode with ease. It's as simple as running the app and listening for a beep. If users hear the beep after running the app, then the QA process was successful. If users don't hear the beep, then they are being urged to dump their debug messages via udp_printf on Linux and send them to the developer. Once the messages have been received, the developer will examine them and work on a fix. It should also be noted, that the app has only been tested on 3.41 and 3.55 firmwares.

    Wiki:

What we have tested on so far

    * 3.55
    * 3.41

o Run qa_flag.pkg if you hear a beep, it worked. If not dump your debug messages via udp_printf on linux and send to us to fix.

+ go to network settings (Do not enter it) and hit or hold

    # L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+down on the d-pad

    QA flagging is now done.

    Twitter:

This does all the work for you as well. Also has Slynk’s 16 byte console specific code “tokenator” if i recall it’s name.

    Update:

And a CFW/Other OS PUP (aka CFW/firmware) arrives, which is confirmed to be working with QA Flag, to quote:
Confirmed working with QA Auto Flag. Flash, Run, Reflash to your CFWs (kmeaw, waninkoko etc etc) adding support soon!

I know this has probably been asked a million times but what can I do with QA mode ?Is there anything I can play around within it ?or is it more of a devs tool for the moment ?

I'm going to go on a hunch and say that this is more of a developer tool so people can go more in depth into making better tools for CFW. Like having it be able to read and write onto an NTFS drive or being able to crack PSN downloads. Hell, maybe being able to play PSP games on the PS3 (one can dream, right?).

QA flagging Mode is an untouched retail FW, that has been QA Flagged as a DEBUG concsole. This allows mainly the disabling of the security features that prevent piracy, but also removes many other restrictions and allows a long list of new debug options to the PS3 menu. It also appearntly unlocks new features, although this isn't comfirmed Downgrading is also possible in QA flagging mode. Its pretty much CFW + REBUG on a clean copy of FW with no violations of sony's TOS. QA mode stays EVEN after updating. Curious now? haha.

What practical uses does QA Mode offer?

I just wanna know if it's worth installing.
I know damanptyltd said what is it, but I'd like to see the upsides dot pointed.

..... Oh, really NOW??.... HMMMM.......A question.... And really this is probably just a load o' bull what i'm saying, seeing as it's 5:00AM around here and i've been up for 30 hours straight.... But if what you say is true, seeing as QA mode is sort of like an "SONY-Authorized CFW", does this mean we will not longer need 3.41 & 3.55 CFW's?? As in, everytime SONY makes a new update, we could update as well, but keep all our data and homebrews and CFW tools regardless, and also gain back PSN in the process??

Well, i'd be damned if that's confirmed. Usually when i'm high i'm like a prophet.

According to "ps3devwiki"System Update Debug on/off Allows you to enable or disable system update debug, which lets you to downgrade with official Sony update manager. But w8,it doesnt work! when i try to install 3.41 firmware or 3.50 or any other below 3.55 it gives 80029C9C

The token were using will not work past 3.55 so you can update from 3.41 to 3.55 and still be QA flagged but don't up date past 3.55 or you won't be hacked anymore.

Its not illegal, its incredibly stable and it enables a hell of a lot more features.

Thank you soo much for your answer.
Do you have a list of the "more features"?
I only saw rebug functionality in a youtube video...

And don't you have to install a pkg (which can only be done on cfw) or install linux ?
How can u do that "legally" ?

      Thanks
      Blade

True. But like with the original CFW, once you got one its not much harder to work out the next.

That is currently not known yet, but updating past 3.55 disables it, so you can do that if you really needed to get ride of it.

Sony will likely patch this, and i dont think you can update past 3.55 until a workaround is found.

      • - After you have it, the system is completely legal, therefore one can assume not ban-able.
      • - Numerous new debug options (not available elsewhere)
      • - Risk of bricking next to zero - 100% stable and compatible with PS3, as it was made by PS3 devs
      • - All of rebug functions + more (all stable)
      • - Most security disabled (including piracy protection)
      • - Allows to install packages
      • - To Be Announced (TBA) Features

I said after its done, its legal because you haven't added or removed any features that weren't already supplied with the firmware :P

Thanks damanptyltd for all the info! I was under the impression that you had to have OFW to QA flag. How do you run a pkg if you are on OFW? Can CFW be QA flagged?
