gitbrew tweets: 3.55 Downgrade to older firmwares, Now confirmed possible. Howto soon, QA flagging needed. Downgrade Now released with info. Mention if you have questions. Donations are accepted.

*Firmware you want to downgrade to. (3.41, 3.15)

=== Notes ===
These tools only work on 3.55 and below.
These tools WILL format your ps3.
Any and ALL psn / downloaded data will be erased!
The lowest firmware you can go to is what was originally on your ps3 originally!

If your ps3 came with 3.41 then that's the lowest it can go.
If it came with 3.15 again thats as low as it can officially go!

be warned if you go lower, you WILL brick!

=== Installation process ===

1. Install CFW355-OTHEROS++-SPECIAL.pup (Doesn't matter what version you are 3.41, 3.50 etc etc)
2. Install qa_flag_extra.pkg
3. Run qa_flag (It will show up as this, that is fine)
4. If you hear the beeps, continue. If you don't hear the beeps go to step 10
5. Reboot
6. Go into recovery menu and Update your ps3 with the firmware that you want (3.15, 3.41 etc)
7. have it install

Just saying, this is not 100% accurate. The lowest firmware you can downgrade to isn't necessarily the stock firmware. For example, my stock 3.50 PS3 can go down to 3.40.
Best way to know the lowest firmware you can go to is to download the 1.02 PUP and try to flash it via XMB. Unless you have a launch model PS3 on which this model can be installed, you will get an error message telling you which is the lowest firmware you can downgrade to. Image proof :

QA Flag first then try to flash 1.02 PUP via XMB?

Because i tried this w/o QA Flag, and got another error mensage, who didn't mentioned any FW version @ all.

Well of course m8. You have to be QA flagged to downgrade via XMB.

Please don't mess with QA flagging. Going by your posts your gonna end up messing your system up. Just wait a bit longer.

What i asked is a little bit different: Do i need to be QA Flagged to get Pereb27 error with lowest firmware possible to my system? Since i got no sucess unflagged, i did the following:

Tried with 3.55 kmeaw, no QA (error: No applicable update data was found).
After with 3.55 OFW, no QA again, same error.

Now im QA flagged with otheros++ 3.55 CFW and still getting "No applicable update data was found" while trying start (just start, not finish) firmware flash of OFW 1.02 by XMB.

Any advices?

You have to install the Qa_Flag_Extra.pkg for it to downgrade. Then you will get the message he got above. Mine says that too, i got it down to 3.4 using the Move Game Disc which has the update on it. Use Recovery Menu to do it.

NVM, got it.To get the error, u have to be flagged, and have "System Update Debug" ON in QA menu.My system is a 3.50 factory and cannot go below 3.50.Thanks.

So would one will loose bd function if one would downgrade? I am qa flagged and all but just waiting till it is further explored before i do it.

Just for check lowest version with the error you dont need to go to recovery, just set "System Update Debug" to ON and try the upgrade with 1.02 PUP.

Warning to others: Don't go straight to recovery menu because im not sure if it ll check your lowest version possbile before update, resulting in a brick if you went too low. Mine is 3.50 (factory 3.50 also).
