This isn't developing, and I find it quite hilarious that a guy who was asking for help in every step of his "Ultimate" CFW (cof, cof...) enters a developing contest. I'm talking about RazorX, just for the record.

yes and most he questions on the FW side were answered by me, it seems he even borrow some of his ideas from me, it takes time and a little know how to do the FW mods yes they are only mods and just cosmetic, but some like it. are you trying to say none of the other devs use available tools to do what they do, linux is a tool, SDK is a tool, PSLight is a tool, etc...

The point is they do offer things that you can not have with PS3MFW, without first learning a bit of developing, and creating custom tasks, etc.

The point is, these contestants have read the rules, and submitted their homebrew accordingly. If someone wants to go out and their and use available tools, and create a super kick ass theme, and that wins... hey guess what? Those are the breaks buddy! IT WHAT PSX-SCENE VOTED FOR! This is a psx-scene contest, and wheather you are a small time newbie, or elitiest hacked, you can enjoy the fun, and give back to the scene.

Read the rules, come at me with an actual proposal, and we can talk. I am all for making this contest as fair as possible for what it is... a fun way to get people to release more things for the scene, even if it is filler, it might mean alot more to someone else, than it does to others.

BOTTOM LINE: We want everyone happy, and participating. What's wrong with that?

It's sad, actually. Sad that a media company buys a console scene site, which is prolly the biggest oximoron I've witnessed in the past few years.

And it's specially sad that one of the most helping and community loving members in the old psx-scene (yes, I'm talking about you) sold itself like this to "$$$ signs for eyes" people like the owners of this site.

Me, I've moved along to greener pastures a long time ago. I just lurk here, laughing at the one-posters that ask if the spoof will let them connect to PSN, or "3.60 keys yet???", and sparking the occasional argument.

As for your opinions, they are yours, and I would not step on them. But as for your ones regarding me, that would be like me forming an opinion on you, I truly could not do it without sounding like an ass****. That's just the truth. I come from a stong line of sceners, all of us guys who joined durning the initial PS Jailbreak boom, and a lot of them resided HERE for the first year. I never tried to be a mod, or never tried to be anything more than what I am. It came as quite a shock to me when the second I get offered the top mod spot out of the thousands and thousands of memebers, singled out by the old owner as bacically, the "one" to take over the site. But while other people abandoned what is home to one of the biggest wealths of psx scene information, I helped steer the vessal into and out of dangers. Selling out, that's what everyone else who buys into all this drama BS is doing. Why be a follower, when you can be a leader? I was chosen not because I knew the most about the scene. But because of what I could do for the scene. I was not going to disappoint the father of the site's last wish.

And I will continue talking how I talk to everyone, until we all agree that is all this is, talk, and we do not need the drama... it is hard enough to breathe when there is no air in the 'net. No reason to raise our voices

Being a part of the team who helped create the contest, I can tell you in all honest this was what we intend (in other less sarcastic phrasing). The goal was (and still is) is to encourage people to come out of the bushes and give developing a go, some of the best things happen with a simple motivator. Now of course entries only being exclusive to PSX-Scene is a respectable condition, as we are the ones running the contest. Would a photoshop based forum running a similar contest want entries from GIMP?

It does not matter how and what is being entered, so long as it is follows the rules. Mind you, we don't choose what wins, the users do. So if the users find an entry to be useful that you think is not really developing, then thats your opinion. And the funniest thing is that if it wasn't publicly known it was a media company, you and everyone else would never know the difference. The admin team are normal, smart and respectable people who put the scene first. You have no idea the lengths they and the mods go to in bettering this site. If you can't appreciate that and choose to pick on insignificant details, then i feel sorry for you.

Listen, what I was saying is that people who have hugely helped the community and were the first guys to answer to whatever problem was posted, were either banned or left the site shortly after it changed hands, and you possibly can't, in good conscience, say they were banned rightfully. It's one of those things where you are saying you are right and the rest of the world is wrong. It simply doesn't happen that way. I can even compile a list of the people I'm talking about, but you know it even better than I do.

About the TOS, cut the bullshit, please. Anyone with a couple of eyes in the face knows the owners changed the TOS hoping that people wouldn't notice that everything they uploaded here belonged to the site. It's a Sony-like move that showed nothing but disrespect towards devs, and you only changed the TOS back when most devs had already deleted their posts and work.

I had also voiced my opinion towards the TOS and the themes, yet nothing not even a warning towards me! Everything on this end seems normal now, they were given a chance to come back! I know some came back just to get themselves banned again!

What my entire post was implying was, this is all in the past. I never said we are angels of God capable of no wrong; i can say in my opinion (not the entire staffs opinion) mistakes were made, but not on purpose. Everyone has tried to make out everything that was done was some way to spread evil and anger amongst the scene; this is simply not true. Even yourself, say things like we are a big evil corporation bent on destruction. It's easy for you to assume this, but its NOT THE CASE. All these sopposedly ourageous acts of infamy were simply mistakes, or misinterpretations (again, my opinion not everyones) and its people like you who made a balloon out of it. I personally was not apart of this mass banwave, as you may ask anyone if i have treated any members unfairly in my time here, or at PSGroove.

And just to reiterate, the whole fanning the coals bit, was about this being an old argument. Have you not seen a change around here? Have you seen "mass ban waves", "stealing of developers works" and other things you THINK were bad as of late? I think this site is better since the switch. I had been using the site for along time but never really spoke my mind until after the switch.
I was to tempted to tell people off. My mom always told me if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
After the switch I think the right people where weeded from this site. It is a much nicer place now.

I do regret the rift between psx-scene and ps3hax because I am a happy member of both sites.

About the contest. The winners are picked by the users not psx-scene. If you have a problem with it. Don't blame psx-scene or it's staff, blame us.

The thing I hate the most in this world is hypocrisy. As I viewed it, it was hypocrisy to have a 250$ monthly contest in order to "encourage creativity" but which could be won with a simple MFW. However, I listened to the people who had a different opinion of my own, and I believe their feelings are honest. Now, I don't think the same way that I did a few days ago, thanks to this dialogue.

About the TOS stuff I stick with waht I said. It was pure disrespect towards developers work, and only the heads of a media company (not the regular staff member) would be capable of attempting such a stunt.

I'd like to suggest the possibility of splitting the prize up among the top three winners in future contests. Perhaps $130 for the first place winner, $80 for the second place winner and $40 for the third place winner. $130 is still (in my mind) a lot of money for the first place prize especially for a monthly competition. I imagine it would help in appeasing people that are unhappy with the results if they knew that at least not all of the prize money is going to one person with nothing for anyone else. Rewarding more people could also encourage more people to participate and possibly result in a few passive consumers becoming programmers. The competition doesn't currently provide any incentive for people to setup PSL1GHT and make something if they don't think they can make something that would be considered the "best". But with three prizes then on a slow month (it seems there is currently only three participants this month) someone could win for making even just another Pong clone which I see as being a very good thing. The PS3 scene doesn't just need better developers it needs more developers.

That's right, and the rules I put to be chosen to be Beta Testers were fairly easy to do, who asked, could try it. But now because bugs were fixed from the Beta version the official release is available (keep your eyes on frontpage of psx-scene.com)
