PSN is down. Update 4.21 is no longer optional FOR CUSTOM FIRMWARE!!!

We all knew this would happen. It was recently reported that 4.21 system update was optional. That is no longer the case. It is now a mandatory update, which means that at least for the time being we don't have PSN access on custom firmware PS3's.

It is still early, but I've tested both F*ckPSN and the recent 4.21 SEN enabler/disabler. I have faith that a workaround will soon become available and we'll be back online very soon but you have to ask yourselves - "Is this the end?".

Anybody that is still able to go online, please report what you are using to make that happen.

I'm playing Lost Planet 2 online. i'm using Kmeaw/Rebug PSN Enabler and Disabler - Access 4.20 PSN

I tried the TB version of it a few minutes ago. Would you mind turning off your PS3 and restarting when you get to a good place? It seems to be affecting people after reboot

4.21 sen enabler/disabler should work good as it's compatible with 4.21 so there should be no issues? also why do sony waste peoples time saying it's optional and then make it mandatory later on?

I'm hoping I'm just getting a false positive, but both F*ckPSN and the SEN enabler stopped working on my end.

Playing Chains of Olympus HD and I'm still connected . Kmeaw + PSN Enabler/Disabler 4.20 but I think if I'll log out now, I won't connect any more. Until you will not re-log you are fine

just turned my ps3 on and i can't sign in, asks for update, just removed the sen enabler as it's useless now, ah well, gonna move to my ofw ps3 for now, it's getting annoying switching ps3s all the time

it seems they have change the passphrase or something i think that is why current spoofs no longer work anymore.

If you are already online, do not sign off, and you should still be able to keep enjoying PSN for awhile.

For those not online, we will have to wait and see if Sony has patched the method when PSN goes back live.

It signs me in on my 4.20 OFW ps3 without making me update but on my 3.55 im using KMEAW SEN enabler/disabler and to sign in its mandatory?

SONY blah-blah.. clearly this cat n mouse game is getting old.. Yes, I can understand your interest in discovering PS3 exploitation for the single purpose of perfecting your new PS4 soon to come out.. The fact is if its human engineered than it can be reverse-engineered, hence the discovery of CFW..

Oh well, I have faith in the PS3 devs.. Like all Sage, they will find a way to make PSN active again, again, and again.. Besides the LAG issue in TEKKEN6, it was fun while it lasted..

It takes two parties to play the cat and mouse game though. If you're tired of the cat and mouse game, then you must also blame the other party, the hackers.

Didnt it take almost a year before someone found a way to get PSN access again?

What do you guys think about the connection (if there is one) between this and Malware Monday? It's supposed to be a DNS changer malware. Any chance it could have infected PS3's or the PSN/SEN servers?

Maybe Sony's trying to fix it. It's to much of a coincidence they made the update mandatory the same day that DNS malware servers are taken down maybe it did have something to do with it.
