  • PS3 System Software Update 3.61 Now Available To Download – PSN Still Offline

    In preparation for the return of the PlayStation Network, Sony has released a new mandatory firmware. The new v3.61 firmware appears to only be security/PSN related and doesn't appear to add any new functionality. Sony also revealed that with the return of the PSN, users will be required to change their PSN passwords as an added security precaution. As always, we do not recommend updating if you intend to retain jailbreak/exploit capabilities.

    We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

    If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.

    We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

      i'll throw away jailbreak capabilities and update to 3.61.
      offline gaming is too boring

      I won't ill wait till some1 figures out how to retain cfw and get back online or cfw 3.61 comes out......

      Huh.So I guess we won't ever see another cfw,right?
      It's been 4 months since they released 3.56 and still no new cfw

      i have 3 ps3 systems all running 3.55kmeaw think i might just update my 160gb fat to ofw for online gaming an keep the other 2 on cfw that way i get to have the best of both worlds lol

      I'm on 3.55 CFW and really want PSN but I don't want to update.

      Can a new retail pos3 still be cfw or jailbroke?, really wanted 1000Gb w/95 games from 4rking.com-something like that-? external hdd caviar green 1t

      r4king.com srry is this 4real?, cool too get from newegg.com the hdd 1000Gb caviar green and build a external for all loaded games even better if jbreak is external too ??free up ps3 for all firmware updates. kinda like dual operating system??

      Hopefully someone will release the keys to 3.6X soon. I want some Portal 2 action. You couldn't pay me to care less about PSN.

      Just so everyone sees. the new firmware has the same keys so it won't effect a possible jailbreak

      Guys I need help my old fat PS3 broke on me with yellow error
      i bougt new ps3 slim and it is on 3.6 now and i was playing light wiht no PSN account
      as i couldnt log in wiht PSN down, how i will be able to change my password any help please
      (Couldnt try update now i am at work) afraid i will lose my account

      the ps blog had directions for changing password from pc, dont see how you could update ps3 from pc, so you should be able to change it whenever your state comes online. i dont know , but dont worry

      That really happened to me though lmao, thank god my girlfriend had a ps3, so I just switched them lol
