PS3 FW 3.56 Released - Updating is Not Recommended

Sony Computer Entertainment finally showed its hand tonight, with the release of 3.56 Official Firmware. It is strongly advised that you do not update if you wish to retain custom firmware etc. However, the firmware still needs to be analyzed to see exactly what the new version brings and if anything is patched.

IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE TO 3.56, IN ORDER TO RETAIN JAILBREAKING AND OR CUSTOM FIRMWARE

UPDATE #1:

As expected, the new firmware kills all homebrew. The update includes a new .self file with a new, previously unknown, key inside. This means all homebrew tools will have to be updated in order to restore functionality. More to come.

UPDATE #2:

KaKaRoToKS is pushing keys and new versions of his tools to his github HERE.

From Kakaroto:

pup from ps3utils and puppack/pupunpack from ps3tools in github.com/kakaroto can now pack/unpack 3.56 correctly.
lv1 and lv2 keys are now pushed to my ps3keys repo.. more coming
isoldr keys are now pushed too.

LETS GET STARTED ON 3.56 STARTING ....NOW~!
Follow these steps in the meantime! To sign into PSN and continue your gaming glory.

Step1: Go to network
Step 2: Connection settings
Step 3: Select Custom
Step 4: Go to DNS settings
Step 5: Put both the Primary and Secondary IP settings as 67.202.81.137
Step 6: Save
Step 7: Sign in
Step 8: Lick your middle finger and hold it up towards your tv while you watch as you are back on PSN and yell **** YOU SONY!

Hey everyone don't update until a stable CFW comes out. use THE( Sorry i didn't notice) DNS to bypass 3.65

What do you mean bypass 3.65? If you don't have auto update on you should be OK, shouldn't you?
Or am I missing something? Is this (DNS ip) a proxy that spoofs 3.5?

Kakaroto Has Also updated his ps3keys github and his ps3utils located at https://github.com/kakaroto/ps3keys and https://github.com/kakaroto/ps3utils
he has added the 3.56 rvk, spp, lv1 and lv2 keys and you are now able to puppack the 3.56 to enable the install pkg files from usb... to bad they dont work (i think)

EVERYONE UPDATE AS I KNOW RIGHT NOW ARE IT IS 1. REMOVING THE UPDATE METHOD FOR USB DRIVES

2. YOU ARE UNABLE TO RESTORE YOUR PS3

3. ALSO THE PS3 KEYS THAT ARE CRACKED ARE BEING CHANGED

ALL OF LAST SONY IS HELPING THEM WITH THIS! HE BETRAYED US

Wow a lot of circulation going on well what i want to know is number one how did geo betray us lol that's a fail no.2 i heard if you are on a CFW when updating to the new firmware it takes the usb feature of updating away but if you are on Official it wont i hate speculation it sucks lol can some body confirm this an just wondering if they did take away the usb feature wouldn't it still be accessible in recovery mode the hold the power on button down way hint hint sorry noobs...................?????/

in order to update from a CFW you have to flash the ps3 firmware to the OFW

Your right bro but just went next door to nabors house an he was on Geohotz CFW so he updated to 3.56 an no brick but no update via storage Media but im hearing if you are on official firmware you still have the update via storge media just wondering if that part is true an just wondering if you can update via recovery menu.....??
