you have a retail console! so no you cant as you need a DEX console not a retail console, so you would need the E3 flasher to get to the OFW 3.55 then you can change to a DEX console

Well evidently thats the case........on 3.55 true blue cfw v2....install the rogero 3.55 dex cfw then go to the 4.20 dex firmware....an play all those back ups.....why would i need my dongle anymore

I don't think it's the case of simply adding 4.20DEX and being able to play 3.56+ Backups without a hassle. I believe the keys for 3.56+ FW are still needed in order for backup managers to launch games. A dev can probably explain things a lot better but I think that's the case. 4.20DEX should allow you to play your retail games that require 3.56+ FW

DEX consoles have a built in back up manager in the form of a BD emulator. You can attach an external drive that has 4 partitions of 45gb. So that's 4 games at a time. I believe currently though, the game needs an official patch/update to work.

Well, from what I've read so far, you can play backups requiring 3.56+ FW but they have to be on a specially partitioned disk. I think the disk creates 4 partition and only one game per partition is allowed. BahumaLord tried it on 4.11DEX and he said he got The Amazing Spiderman and ResEvil Operation Racoon City to work loading as backups. Guess my first post was incorrect.

indirect76's post has more info on the subject. I guess we'll just have to wait around and see more there is to learn (and what can be done on the FW) about DEX

You can play any retail disc up to 4.11, you can play backups 3.55 and lower as normal, and you can play any game with a update up to 4.11 from a specially formatted hard drive. So far I've tested both Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City (a 4.01 game) and The Amazing Spider-Man (a 4.11 game) from this specially formatted USB drive and they both work

There's problems with Resident Evil, so it's not going to work. I've been trying to get it operational but it uses DLC updates instead of a regular update. Shaitan started a compatibility list. There's still a lot to add, so we're going to need everybody's help to get it complete

so, how's like the brick status so far? any really reported bricks from any recent releases that are supposed to make converting easier?
i've looked at a few retail to developer posts but haven't really read the instructions much because i haven't had too much interest until recently where it seems like a lot more people are using it. too much deals with needing a flasher and stuff, which i don't have which also turns me away in case of a brick.

so, in other words, what would be like the top posts/threads to look at for doing it with this rogero firmware (which seems like something that'll make things the easiest because you can downgrade to this)? also, is downgrading simply as easy as choosing system update, update from external drive?

sorry if they're basic questions that are answered a lot of times.

I haven't heard of any bricks yet. LET ME STRESS THAT - YET. You run a very high risk of bricking if you don't read like you said you haven't. I used deank's guide. There's supposed to be an easier way, but this is tested and proven to work. I haven't heard too many reports on the pkg dumper. You do not need a flasher if you follow deank's instructions for dumping and writing the flash.
