PS3 4.00 HFW (Hybrid Firmware) v3 Released

Developer PS3Hen has updated his Hybrid firmware to version 3 adding the ability to read XML files from a USB device therefore allowing updates/revisions without the need to downgrade. He finishes off by saying that no further updates will be released unless something of interest surfaces.

Following up on my previous release, after moja drew to my attention the inconvenience of having to downgrade to 3.55 and re-install a new PUP to get new features in my HFW I tried to look for a solution.

Making a FW 4.00 compatible PUP was not an option. So I looked for another way. At the moment I'm quite happy with the base firmware of my HFW and the only real thing I would change to add new features would be in the XMB items.

Like new revisions of DeViL303's XMB Manager. So I did some experimenting with the XML files and found it is possible to use resources from external (other than the /dev_flash/) devices. So basically I've modified the XMB read XML instructions from a USB device.

This allows me to port revisions of the XMB Manager, and my 4.00HFW users can simply copy the files to a USB to use the newer version. No downgrade required to use XMB updates. I'm not likely to release another firmware a revision of my 4.00 HFW after this one for a while, unless something BIG comes along.

Change Log: Version 3:

Added the ability to read XML instructions from a usb device plugged in "/dev_usb000/" allowing users to add items to the XMB by modifying an XML file on the USB device.
Re-added "Install Package Files" to the XMB so the user is not forced to use XMB mods if they wish to install .PKG files.
Note: Still retains the features from previous versions regardless of whether XMB Mods are used or not.

Still a NO USE For me , LOL Why cant be installed over 4.00 >_> people wont need this then .... But still Nice ... :S "Not really"

SIMPLE! Because 4.00 Isn't mod-able yet! Some people use it at least it's something ....what have you done?

Useful to some and not to others guys/girls. Not every mod/tool is useful to 100% of us but at least some progress/mods are released by those who are able to do so. Lets not get into a what have you... bunch of comments that don't help anyone.

sure so why i just received warning 4 comment recent homebrew which does same what Qflag/JB but bashing HFW is ok?

@spok If you got a warning from another moderator that is for that moderator to decide. We are trying to create a bash free zone here, especially when seeing members bash developers. Developers are becoming scarce and loosing interest in the scene due to been constantly bashed. Your opinions are valued but try to be sensitive to others when commenting.

Heyy! i have a Big question! usually a big idea if this is a PS3 4.00 HFW (Hybrid Firmware) can run pkg files,there is a app called factory service mode tool that allows you to put in factory mode your ps3 can this be possible? to execute this app in this firmware and put in service mode ps3 4.00! and downgrade?! just thinking in high voice!

Hello guys. I allready have before 3.55CFW. Now i have updated with this Hybrid FW and can't install multiman and many other pkg-s. How I can go back now to my CFW 3.55.? What i need? Please help me.

You can't be serious. I assume you are going to need some sort of hardware flasher to downgrade your console. I have not been following this release that closely, but I am not sure if you can just go back to 3.55 from recovery mode... but it could be worth a shot (although I would say you have about a 99.9% chance of it NOT WORKING)

What you need to do is to buy a new console in 3.55 FW or low. Nothing else you can do without a e3 flasher and shitload of soldering skills.-

why do I need this? What brings me a HFW if it can not do anything. Such a thing we do not really need. So MAD !!!

Sorry about what happened. Anyone would be incredibly upset if they were in your situation. Like I said, I have not really been following this release because it is more for development purposes than user purposes.

No it could only install SONY signed pkg like game updates, nothing more, nothing less but it's a good progress
To installa insigned code, you need an exploit, a HEN ou a CFW, this is a modded OFW 4.00, it's an OFW with install package files to manually install game update's.
