PS3 3.55 CFW With Peek/Poke - One Step Closer to Backup Managers

netkas and flukes1, have released a new custom firmware, this time bringing us the Peek and Poke syscalls, which we've long enjoyed from our jailbreak dongles. The new syscalls aren't enough to enable current backup managers just yet, but it is a step closer. Developers will need to port their backup managers to the new CFW, and find the correct offsets in 3.55 firmware.

v3.55 CFW UPDATE WITH PEEK/POKE (ALREADY MADE - READY TO FLASH!) -> DOWLOAD NOW!

Patch to add peek and poke syscalls to PS3 firmware v3.55
by flukes1 and netkas (irc.efnet.net #ps3test)

To create the patched PS3UPDAT.PUP:

1. Use bspatch to apply PS3UPDAT.PUP.bsdiff to Sony's official 3.55 PUP, which is available from their website.
2. Run this from command line: "bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3UPDAT-NEW.PUP PS3UPDAT.PUP.bsdiff"
2. Ensure that the md5sum of the resulting PS3UPDAT.PUP is:

337831fac6a9b05074f73710c4bb7c86

Simply install the patched PS3UPDAT.PUP onto your PS3, then install geohot's jailbreak.

Our PUP can be installed over any firmware version, including 3.55-geohot. If you install over 3.55-geohot, you must reinstall geohot's jailbreak afterwards.

For developers: peek is syscall 6, poke is syscall 7 (same as PL3 dev payload)

NOTE: Current backup managers may not work correctly in their current state, but now with these important syscalls added the backup manager authors will be able to change their code once the right offsets are figured out for the ram patching of the other needed functions from the original dongle payloads!

This is a firmware file, you need to copy it to a USB drive in /PS3/UPDATE and install it like a normal firmware update. It's not a package file.

Will this allow use to just stick our games in and back them up and play them with no other file editing after the backup managers are updated?

I gotta say im a fan of the way that castlevania is right from the XMB i think there should be a manager that just does that. One thing though it never loads the save data utility icon i dont know if its becuase its now 11GB or that when the file was being made that wasnt included?

Agreed, if there was a way you can do the same from a external drive, I would be all over it.

Downloaded and applied the patch and I can assure multiman does not load backups even though its signed for 3.55 . Just goes back to xmb but not to say it won't work in the future if u want to playbackups stay on 3.41 and use your dongle

From what I've been reading this new firmware is not working as intended and will probably be replaced with a different patch.

Unfortunately I already installed it.

Is it safe to overwrite this with OFW 3.55?

Let me sure I have this straight..

Instructions if installed over 3.55-geohot

1. Install 3.55 CFW With Peek/Poke
2. Install 3.55-geohot jailbreak

OOOH yeah =) so do i have to install this one upon 3.55 OFW? and do i get this right: The second link (this Already Made thing) is already Patched and ready to be installed like that?
And does this CFW have the constant "Install pkg-files" menu-point if i start up normally? And the most important point:
Can i go online (PSN) and play online games with it?
