PS Vita PSP HEN - Coming Soon?

Developer Davee has released information on a PS Vita PSP HEN he is currently working on. A major improvement over Wololo's VHBL, is that this exploit can access the PS Vita's modified PSP kernel, which allows for better compatibility of homebrews.

You can read the information below to get a better understanding of this achievement.

First thing first, huge thanks to Proxima and some1. They’ve provided key utilities and advice for this research. So, yeah, it was really only a matter of time till this kind of thing happened. Sony dont just emulate the userland process of a PSP game, they emulate the entire kernel albeit, a modified kernel. The PSP emu has limited access to hardware, with interfacing the hardware done via a Kermit module. Kermit is a old-timers transmission protocol, likely used to talk to the native Vita.

The PS Vita, is a nifty little device, and the PSP emulator is a good target to get a huge library of homebrew. Check out the video below for a demonstration of what can be achieved.

You can see, that it works! The benefit is that HEN can access the core of the kernel, allowing almost seamless compatibility. However, as you may know, VHBL cannot run Lamecraft. Nor can this HEN currently. Lamecraft uses the OSK interface which has been replaced with Vita’s OSK. It’s likely a software error in the PSP kernel from the arguements passed in the homebrew.

There is other things, and perhaps i’ll make a post for them another time, but for now, later.

Also, be sure to take a look at the video where Davee is able to launch PRX Loader (a homebrew loader), which loads up an emulator as well as what looks like a PSP backup.

Also, It wasn't confirmed (by Davee himself) that it was a Licensed PSP game used in the video or a iso loaded game. Time will only tell.

OK. The loading of the PSP is sweet =) i would love to be-able to play all my PSP games again.."Lost my PSP some time ago" Been thinking about getting a Old version PSP but i Got a vita now and with this i can have my cake and eat it to =)

c'mon guys....

Another PS Vita Hacker update. I'm bored now. When the hackers back to work on a new cfw for ps3? Sometime ago i hear talk about the trueblue code is cracked. So everybody wants to play the news games - like batman arkham city, dead island or Pes12....

My friend change his ps3 for a x360.... i don't wanna make this...

Where is Kakaroto and other guys that can install pkgs in 4.XX firmwares????

First of all, this is not just another update. This can be considered a major advancement in the PS Vita PSP emulation scene.

TB or Cobra have not been cracked yet, and the creators of the devices have put a lot of effort into making sure they do not get cracked. It does not mean that it will never get cracked, but for the time being it is not.

Your friend had the right idea switching to the xbox360 scene. It has been around a lot longer, and there is a better attitude in general. There are not a bunch of people asking developers where there fix is, even though they have not donated or done anything to help out themselves.

Perhaps once this whole scene cools down, and people stop acting like asses, we will see some more progress then what we are currently seeing.

Until then, we have to put up with people whining about not being able to play news games, and crying for a free fix. When 3.41 was around, there was still no free fix. Everyone still had to go purchase a dongle, anywhere from 20 to 40 dollars. And the code they were using which was reverse engineered from the original PS Jailbreak... basically, if the team that made the original JB are behind TB and Cobra, they have learned there lesson about letting others crack their dongles.

Ok with this news, how long till $ony starts the useless updates 3 days, 4 days. I am willing to be that we get a useless PSVITA update B4 one that add ANYTHING new to the VITA, but still great work Davee now I will be able to play Project Diva on the Vita (hey that rhymes)

Anybody now somethink about the 'cfw' from Kakaroto?

I tired listen about vita. The first console for sony is Ps3 YET. It's cool that hackers make with vita ( i'm think in buy one for me, rs) but everybody just simply stop to jailbreak 4.xx Ps3.....

This is a PLAYSTATION news site. NOT a PLAYSTATION 3 ONLY site. Meaning this site will and I mean will report news on what ever PLAYSTATION product. via: Ps, PsOne, Ps2, PS3, PSP, PSvita, Ect.

Simple solution: If you don't like it. Find yourself a PS3 only reporting site.

I'm saving up for a ps vita right now. By the time I'm done saving I wouldn't be surprised if it had cfw.

im sorry but maybe you should do a little thinking before you speak out. i bought it because i thought it was going to be a great console but i was presented with an OS that is just to simple and just the way sony did things with it like how you transfer files over from the ps vita to your pc pisses me off. not to mention some of the things its missing right now like psx games. and some of the games that our out in japan right now aren't available here.

Why didn't you just youtube how the OS looks like? or works? or play a demo unit at a game stop or best buy? (The demo units are rare though so i understand). You could have read up on it, and you would have known there was currently no ps1 support, why don't people DO RESEARCH before buying something expensive? You could have read a list of the up coming games and would have known we aren't getting much in the US besides Resistance, Mortal Kombat, Gravity Rush, and Little Big Planet. But the transferring from the computer does suck lol I understand that. They should have made it easy like the psp. :P

i did do tons of looking before i bought it i was on other forums etc.. though ps1 support *will come* thats my whole point... anyway besides being flamed by people im just going to wait till the hen comes out or the vitas firmware is hacked by itself.

@ soratheultima, screw them. They'll be the ones crying cause they didn't get theirs before Sony patched the hardware to a pacific firmware. It's only a matter of time. It's inevitable. While we're sitting pretty at a low end PsVita, streaming PS3 remote play games. They can sit here and cry and whine all they want. Love the remotre play hehe looky there. sparkles! mmmmm multiMan sparkles. yum yum...

Well KaKaRoTo has said he is not currently working on his HEN, and does not have any plans to do so in the near future. He is currently looking into releasing his unfinished work, and if that happens perhaps we might see some more advances. Keep in mind, it is a slim chance. Like CrashSerious has said numerous times, there is still a lot to find out about 3.41 and 3.55. Look at what the Cobra USB has done for 3.55 CFW, and you can see that as a scene we still have a long way to go.

Hmmmm. I use my PS Vita every single night. I love earning trophies in bed and on the shitter.
