PS VITA .pkg xTractor 1.00

Well known developer SKFU has released another windows application called PS VITA .pkg xTractor 1.00. This app basically decrypts PS Vita game packages. He also mentions that the PS Vita game packages are encrypted using the PSP AES key and the launch of the PS Vita developer wiki. Read below for full details.

After two sleepless nights and great help of iQD and PS3-690, finally the PS VITA .pkg xTractor application 1.00 is finished. This program can decrypt & extract PS VITA game package (.pkg) files. To use the program you need to place the PS VITA .pkg AES key in the same dir as the executable. Funny as SONY is, they probably were to lazy to think of a new key and just used *hehe*, the PSP .pkg AES key. Information tab not finished, yet. It will be completed in next version.

So just put the PSP .pkg AES key in hex syntax in aes.key file in the same folder and you are ready to go.

Another thing worth to mention is that thanks to GregoryRasputin the PS VITA developer wiki is now online.

I guess that Sony was just lazy with this. I see the PSP scene all over this one. They may have to reimplement a new key just to avoid this.

Still makes no sense. Nobody has explained wtf this is for. Vita is not even out yet. So Vita pkgs do not exist.

Based on his first Vita firmware extractor program, my guess is that he have a relatively old build (firmware 0.945 or something). I've seen a video that is about 2 months old, and that Vita had firmware 0.990. I dont think that it is impossible that beta Vita stuff actually uses the PSP AES keys, but i cant imagine that this will be present in the retail Vita units.

This is cool and all but WHY CANT THEY WAIT FOR THE CONSOLE TO AT-LEAST COME OUT!!!!!

God I mean its cool and all but wait untin Japan release the ps3 vita on the 17th... people dont know that SONY can still go back and make changes damn is this what the scene is coming into? its like telling the bank in advance when they are going to rob them.... Hackers these days -_________- and people WONDER WHY there isnt a new cfw out yet

This scene is young, full of moronic kids, doesn't surprise me.

I'm calling fake. maybe i should release PSvita tools that no one can use since no pkgs are available. like i said before.

I think all these PSVita releases are fake and someone is looking for attention. there's no way you can make apps like this without the hardware or some software on hand. not sure why psx scene even reports this crap.

BTW SKFU to my knowledge has never released anything useful for current hardware. just attention seeking.

riiiiight and he has one and is releasing software that no one can use. i've been searching and cant find any tools in the past that he released that weren't just copies of geohot's and other devs concepts. so i'm going to release a proof of concept for hacking the PS4 and how to extract and preview Xbox 720 firmware. since no one can use it for years i guess i'll be respected and be front page news on PSX scene lol
