PS Vita PKG AES Key Changed

This news may be a little late, but however, it seems that developer SKFU author of the Firmware Xtractor program has determined that the AES key of the PS Vita has been changed. The newer PKG files that have come out with the newly released Vita in Japan, has come with changed AES keys. Here is a quote from the developer himself.

I just got my tried to unpack the Twitter application for PS VITA and sadly I have to say that the AES key for PKG encryption and decryption changed.

The PKG’s I used for my testings were pretty old and the key update was expected.
Nevertheless it’s a bit disappointing but a new nice challenge

The PS3 can decrypt the new packages on firmware 4.00 which contains the new PS VITA PKG AES key for the PS3 <--> PS VITA content exchange feature. This means we can decrypt and get the content of the PS VITA PKG files via a 4.00 PS3. Sadly there’s no solution to re-encrypt it again, yet.

Let the games begin! (again…)

No surprise that the keys are changed in the retail units, that was expected indeed.

I also don't think that it is true that PS3 firmware 4.00 can decrypt Vita .pkgs. When you download something Vita or PSP related to your PS3, then the .pkg will just be there as a bubble icon, you can't unpack it on the PS3.

Perhaps it would have been best to wait until the Vita was released outside of Japan to spread news about the handheld being hacked.

Best for who? Certainly not for people who already have one.
