Ps Vita News: Hidden System Menu

Here is another little trick found on the PS Vita, a hidden system menu containing information about your current firmware. A specific key combination is required to access this menu.

To Quote:

apanese site emuonpsp reported today that a combination of keys was found in the settings menu to display some hidden information about the firmware installed on your Playstation vita.

This menu contains information about the system build, repository, revision,… doesn’t look like it’s super useful information for now, but still interesting I guess.

The combination to get this menu to show requires practice but I could confirm it works on my vita (Firmware 1.510).

Go to Settings > System > System Information
Press simultaneously RTrigger + LTrigger + DPad Left + Square for a few seconds
Release those buttons then immediately press the start button
tadaa, additional information shows up

I'm not I really like this early hacking of the Vita. We should save these finds and not talk about them until Sony releases the hardware in the US and it's too late to change the hardware.

It's already too late to change the hardware before the us release >.>

Not that anything that has been done so far is hardware related...

um if u notice its software he is using to exploit not hardware so this key method to open this hidden menu can be disabled or modified before release of vita in U.S with mandatory firmware updates from sony.

EDIT: just noticed u mentioned nufin was hardware related rofl

You guys are right it does work on the PS3, but you use R1/L1 not the triggers.

i've just tried it on ps3 and it works - it's another story if there is any information on the output that could be useful.

It's not a hidden menu, it's just additional system information that's used by Sony if they have your system to fix it. If anything can be done with said information, I'm sure it's already being looked at or has been for a while.

its not too late at all, also im pretty sure they knew about this while they were stocking up for japan, then they delayed shipment and in the mean time flashed all the remaining vitas with their latest and most secure Firmware. Not the first time companies have done this. i think i know sony and it would be suicide if they did release them as is.

They're already being produced, so yes, it's too late. And flashing a new firmware isn't a hardware change.
