  • PS Suite SDK - Details Revealed

Details have been revealed revolving around the PS Suite SDK that Sony has planned for release in the near future, sometime next month in April; that is when the open beta SDK 0.98 will be released with no licensing fee and PS Vita testing.

The Official SDK will be released later this year For $99, and allow for submissions. Basically, you can make a game/app and sell it on PSN, for use on the PS Vita and PS certified phones/tablets. I suppose it can be compared to App market place similar to Apple and Android.

I thought I saw somewhere else that you're going to have to pay a subscription fee to use this once the full version is released but didn't see how much it would cost. I know some of these things can get more expensive than they're worth

I forgot to add that. Article updated
I think if it is free, I might as well check it out
Perhaps I should change the Article Button To Beginner instead of Dev

I hope no one thinks a EMU is going to come out of this. It is Sony we're talking about here. They have control of what can be released. Meaning anything you send in isn't signed. Speaking of it being Sony, it would be a lawsuit nightmare if they did let someone release something like that. Just think about it.

Lawsuit Rewards of Nintendo, Sega, Ect., Ect.

      Against
      Jo-Blo:
$$$ - If Jo-Blo has any to start with. or see below if none.
House - Maybe if the person isn't staying in momma's basement.
Car - hmmm tough one. might have one might not.
Jail - Maybe, if they push it.

      Against
      Sony:
$$$ - Millions(Maybe Billions) for releasing signed material that can load Un copyrighted Sony material.

I just don't see it happening.

Gotta remember, This is Sony we're talking about here. Control freaks!

      Just my thoughts,

      Quake

      Edit:
On another note. I wouldn't mind seeing a PDF reader or a Ebook app and so forth. Then again. Sony locked out the folders in the PsVita.

Accessible:Music, Videos, Pictures, Apps in content manager. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Quakes69: It is good that there are control of what is being released. Otherwise you will see the market flooded by bad and buggy stuff. I guess that it is always possible to make an emulator for your own use. All the apps you make can be tested on a retail Vita. You dont have to publish them.

Not unless you have a debug, dev(Which there is none in the wild) PsVita. Aint gonna happen even for your own use. It still has to be signed for PsVita to install it. Hence the signed duh! Sony = Control freaks!

This still calls for CFW PsVita to happen! Period!

      Quakes69: Check this article:

PlayStation Suite Shown On Vita, To Support Non-Game Apps | PlayStation LifeStyle

"Sony answered a developer’s question over whether they’ll need to buy an expensive Vita dev kit, saying that developers can test the games running on these devices including the Vita, even without the device. Emulators are built into the SDK and devs can compile one executable file, and it will run all ALL PS Suite compatible devices. Sony continued:

Yes, the consumer Vita will run these games, you don’t even need a debug Vita to test them.
      "

However, in afterthought this might be understood in two ways. Either they mean that you can test the code on a retail Vita, or they mean that you can make a game, test it on your PC, and all Vitas will be able to run them.

@ yes159, Knowing Sony, I'm guessing on the pc. It is what you said earlier. Control of crappy stuff of course. All we can do is wait and see what is in store for the Dev's when it does come out.

This got me to thinking. The PS3 SDK version 3.60 that was leaked out. With that, can someone make anything they want with it and package it and run it on OFW 3.60 and higher? I never grabbed it. So I don't know. I haven't seen anything from it. All I've seen from other Dev's came from the Pslite I believe.

I guess all we can do is wait and see what you can and can't do with the Dev kit when it comes out.

I was looking for an article some one wrote about the security that's in the PsVita and the CMA itself. Unfortunately, I can't find it.

your guess is as good as mine.

      I apologize for the duh!
