If this clip's durability is the same as NAND clip has - then I'm sorry guys, but it's completely useless. One mismatch while placing it - and you're done.

wait theres a NAND clip for this? oh wait that's right it looks to complicated to install that's why i didn't use it... they should use an easier way to do it. plus it looked pretty pricey to me

That has nothing to do with durability if you solder the wrong pins of a modchip to the wrong pins of anything of any device then your done; it's called no being an idiot and carefully studying before attemping lol. If you can't follow instructions or use a solderless chip you shouldn't be doing anything hardware related to any console.

I think the price is justified if your someone who makes money off of modding PS3s. Now you can downgrade someones console without having to solder then desolder the chip. sounds like awesome news to me.

To be honest, I hate that they make simple things complicated. Why they put their products to some kind of underground distributors which puts the price more higher and even cancels purchase. And sometimes I have to search through 5 chinese distributors to to get one part from each. It is easier to sell their products on eBay where everything is simple - about 5 mouse clicks and you have purchased what you need.

so thats all this does i thaught that there was a chip that you could store firmware on and select between the two letting you have official firmware and custom firmware on the same console

You can only downgrade from 4.00 OFW if you updated it to 4.00 in past. Exemple if You bought your PS3 with orginal 3.76 and You are now on 4.00 You can downgrade only to 3.76 and not to 3.55 or below. but if You bought Your PS3 with 3.40 You can downgrade it to even to 3.40
