PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • PNM Project Update - 3.60 Slim Flash Dumped - 3.6x+ Keys Coming Soon

Today, we were informed that the PNM Project has advanced nicely since we first reported on it last week. The project is shaping up to be the PS3 scene's saving grace by eventually delivering us with the new 3.6x+ keys. For those of you unfamiliar with the project, it intends to dump the new 3.6x keys by utilizing dual NOR flashes/firmware (which is very plausible). The project's leader, No_One, has informed us that he has successfully dumped a 3.60 NOR flash by using one of the sockets on his PNM board. In the newly released photos, we can clearly see this PlayStation 3 NOR flash chip plugged into the 2nd socket, ready to be dumped. No_One went on to state that jailbreaking new PS3's will soon become a reality once again. Unfortunately, he also informed us that he will be taking a three week vacation, so advancements to the project will be put on hold until he returns.

    Hi mates,

I'm going to be on vacations for 3 weeks.
I just wanted to tell you that PNM project will be stopped during this period.

But, i've some great news for you.
I successfully dumped a 3.60 NOR flash using one of the socket ! ;-)
The second socket has been validated too.
We are not far from our main goal : "jailbreak again the PS3" !

    Here are some snapshots :
    - host console with a new feature (NOR FLASH details...),
    - PNM with a NOR Flash on Socket #1,
    - an extract of the 3.60 NOR dump as a proof ;-)

    Cheers

      LOL.

You clearly don't have a ****ing clue about console scenes, let alone Linux in PC environment.

Srsly, do the whole community a favor: quit that lame argument that "OMGZ TEH SCENE IZ ALL ABOUT WAREZZ HERP DERP" and shut the **** up.

Look the amount of comments homebrews get versus custom firmwares on the main page, homebrews numbers are pale compared to firmwares and the closer to a 3.60cfw development a story gets the more comments it gets, those are factual numbers. Now, compare the threads and replies counts of the Open Source & Homebrew forum versus the PS3 game backup forum, open both and see the amount of "views" favoring the backup threads by a factor of 10, now you see for yourself who's talking out his ass, you. Keep convincing yourself people come here for the homebrew and software development.

I won't argue on semantics, but The Scene has always been about piracy, there isn't multiple scene, but only one, the piracy "scene", warez. The PS3 part of it hasn't move in months, care to tell me anything piracy wise that was release since f*ckPSN? You precised you are talking about an homebrew "scene", fine. But I'm making a point about why we are here, maybe not you, but the majority of us.

I state facts, you deal in opinions. I'm not saying homebrews shouldn't exist. And surely not saying it would be non-existent without piracy, but take piracy away and this website is a shadow of itself. You can say "I bought a PS3 for otherOS" as much as you want, but Sony removed it without a care because almost nobody uses it, you probably account for 5%, probably less. AND don't call me a leech when you cry for Linux you cheap bastard, buy yourself a 600$ computer and quit whining about Linux. Devs aren't the ones running the show, we pirates are, we crowd the arena and give the sport (scene) a reason to exist, without us there is no one playing, but as long as we are here there will be someone somewhere to play for our entertainment, to hack (pirate) stuff up for their own fame and our enjoyment. Homebrew IS the by-product. Linux isn't thriving on PC, a lot of its infrastructure is used to distributed piracy, that's by-product right there. You aren't stating facts at all. Just because you perceive them as facts doesn't mean they actually are. Of course people are gonna want a 3.6x CFW/FW/etc. You do realize there are a lot of people WITHOUT a a JB'd console right? So herp derp, ya they need 3.6x. Likewise of course game backups (read backups not piracy) are gonna be the majority viewed on this site. The console is primarily designed for gaming, is it not? So of course logically speaking a game backup section will receive the most views. but that doesn't mean this scene has been entirely focused on piracy. If you think so, you really need to look around.

Likewise you honestlu think everything you say is fact when all you are doing is assuming, and pulling facts out of thin air? You aren't "stating facts" you are "stating an opinion." Learn the difference. If you think otherwise you are extremely bloody delusional.

      You are a leecher.

How am I a cheap bastard for wanting linux on a piece of hardware that was designed and advertised as supporting linux?(Hell the original PS3 toolchain that the devs use was built off of the GNU GPL toolchain.) (So again get your facts straight.) I have TWO PC's thank you. "Devs aren't the ones running the show?" HAHAHAHAHA! Don't make me laugh. Without the devs you wouldn't have crap! Plain and simple.

Piracy = / = hacking. Since you are an idiot I'll explain that to you. Piracy is not equal to hacking. They are not one in the same, nor are they synonyms of each other. They are two completely different terms to describe completely different things.

Your calling me immature? whatever. Your extremely delusional to say the least. Linux isn't thriving on the PC? Are you insane? You know the internet that your connected to? The things that make up "sites" ya the majority of those are running on linux servers. Educate your self before you make a fool of yourself. Plus most software that is cross platform is developed using linux. Linux is thriving enmass. So again... you definitely need to educate yourself. To quote a wise man "You clearly don't have a ****ing clue about console scenes, let alone Linux in PC environment." - NuclearAqua

Oh and PS: 99% of all statistics are made up on the spot. Which means your little numbers are all BS. But you can say my little "statistic" is BS as well. But that's the point of that statement LMAO!

On pirates being the reason why the scene exists : ROFL! You keep telling yourself that. The developers are the reason why the scene exists. Without them you wouldn't have shit! Plain and simple.

My gaming rig : (this machine alone can handle anything linux throws at me + any games that I decide to play.) (So much for your "cheap ass" assumption)
      AMD Phenom II x2 555 callisto @ 3.2GHZ unlocked to a triple core @ 3.8GHZ.
      M4A785TD-V EVO
      G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ (factory OC 9-9-9-24 IIRC) with 1.5V
EVGA GTX 560 TI SC (no overclocking) (1gb vram IIRC)
      Windows 7 X64 Professional

      My "linux" server :
      Processor : AMD Athlon XP 64 X2 4200+ @ 2.2h GHZ per core
      Motherboard : Asus A8n-SLI premium
      Ram : 2GB DDR400 ram(cheapo)
HDD : Throw away 250 GB SATA @ 7200 RPM
      OS : Ubuntu 11.04

So I can run Linux on either of my two machines. But that is not the point at all. I want to be able to use linux on a machine that it was advertised on. Which is my PS3. I also use my PS3 for development.

But again whether you want to admit it or not, pirates don't rule anything. Likewise without the developers, that you obviously have no problems disrespecting, you wouldn't even have your backup manager to pirate games on. Let alone the exploits to even enable them. So have some respect .

I wish you guys wouldn't have to resort to insults when providing your views and info about the subjects in discussions. Trust me nothing positive nor constructive is gained with such hostility. If you are all confident with your information, then why must you try to belittle the other person with insults? Your knowledge in the matter should be sufficient. Sadly, I think if you guys keep this up, you will only create enemies (trolls) than allies (helpful members) in the scene. My .02 cents.

If someone resorts to insulting you, than take my advice and not lash back, but instead provide your knowledge and let that speak for itself. Learn to have self control. Like that toddler saying goes: "stick and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". I think if more of you would take on that stride (taking the high road), less of these hostile exchanges (bashing and flaming) would exist in this forum. Know what I mean?

This looks like an interesting little project!

Looking at it, I can't help but wonder and hope if it'll allow dual-booting (device soldered into the PS3, external switch so you can decide which of the two chips to boot... you'd need 2 HDD's though). If so, that would be pretty cool. I might have to crack open my UK B/C PS3 and get soldering if it ever happens.

I just hope this project leads to us being able to play the 3.60+ games that we paid for on our Jailbroken PS3's. There are several PS3 exclusives coming up that I am going to buy and I hope I can play them on my Jailbroken PS3.I think knowthyself is confusing the term "The Scene" to mean the groups that release pirated games for download and not the scene that does homebrew. Two separate entities.

How are we belliteling (or how it's spelled) other people when they were the first ones to call us morons? Unfortunately, this is the only way something can get past their little brains.

People like him simply aren't ready to have a civilized discussion online, so it's simply a matter of not wasting time and energy with people that don't deserve it. I give infinite kudos to Prea for having the patience to write such a post directed to a guy who is 15 years old at max.

I have another adage that says: truth hurts. All me and Prea told him was the truth. I don't care if he feels offended to any of the things I said. People who are open and willing to accept criticism don't write a post in the way he did, and there's simply no use to "politically correct" him.

I was addressing to all parties involved. There are better ways of addressing an issue without the need for flaming and bashing.

I agree it sounds like everybody needs to chill. Although I will say I don't understand why Preatorian's defense of the accusations of PS3 Scene being driven by piracy was to in turn call the 360 scene "Piracy-only".Backup only seems right, but piracy-only? Both scenes rely heavily on backups legal or otherwise. Both scenes have had straight up stealing of DLC. I would argue that backing up disc-based 360 games is needed even more than PS3 because the 360 laser scratches discs by design, right out the box under normal conditions. PS3 drives don't shred discs, and BD discs are far more resistant to scratching to begin with. I just don't understand why you would get so worked up when the guy called the PS3 scene piracy driven, taking great offence of being lumped in with pirates for being associated here, then yourself labeling anyone on the 360 scene to be a pirate.

I get chills thinking of getting my 3.6x jailbroken
I've been following the psx-scene for several months for news on this...

As I've never seen a jailbroken ps3 device - what are really the opportunities?

      - Linux
What would the interface/ui look like compared to the ps3 original? The same, with 3rd part applications installed listed as apps in one view?
      - XBMC
Will it be possible to use XBMC media server? Anyone tested it, good performance? or is there a better one?
      - Games
By default I'm excited to play SNES mario without hooking up a damn laptop everytime. How would original ps3 games work, insert & play? Online game mode?

I would appreciate anyone kind enough to answer me out. Either link me or just tell me :-)

      gotta love psx-scene
