PNM Project Update - 3.60 Slim Flash Dumped - 3.6x+ Keys Coming Soon

Today, we were informed that the PNM Project has advanced nicely since we first reported on it last week. The project is shaping up to be the PS3 scene's saving grace by eventually delivering us with the new 3.6x+ keys. For those of you unfamiliar with the project, it intends to dump the new 3.6x keys by utilizing dual NOR flashes/firmware (which is very plausible). The project's leader, No_One, has informed us that he has successfully dumped a 3.60 NOR flash by using one of the sockets on his PNM board. In the newly released photos, we can clearly see this PlayStation 3 NOR flash chip plugged into the 2nd socket, ready to be dumped. No_One went on to state that jailbreaking new PS3's will soon become a reality once again. Unfortunately, he also informed us that he will be taking a three week vacation, so advancements to the project will be put on hold until he returns.

Hi mates,

I'm going to be on vacations for 3 weeks.
I just wanted to tell you that PNM project will be stopped during this period.

But, i've some great news for you.
I successfully dumped a 3.60 NOR flash using one of the socket ! ;-)
The second socket has been validated too.
We are not far from our main goal : "jailbreak again the PS3" !

Here are some snapshots :
- host console with a new feature (NOR FLASH details...),
- PNM with a NOR Flash on Socket #1,
- an extract of the 3.60 NOR dump as a proof ;-)

this scene is dead..until a cfw 3.6+ that we can put in our usb better.

Sorry to be the future pessimist here but in the main article, it says newer PS3's might be jailbreakable. To end that much, it's not the same as this method. This method is only good for current models. Wanna know why? lv0.2. Our consoles don't use that, but the new K-series will. Also, they'll come stock with well over 3.56, so the ECDSA fail will have been fixed. @Teeth, yes, this will result in a soft-mod jailbreak. If people have NAND/NOR flashers (me) more power to them. The only keys that are console specific when encrypted are bootldr, metldr, and the hardware key. @themuse, only dual NOR will work, dual NAND wouldn't. And unless they get the private/public keys, then this is pointless. Anyone with 3.56+ without a NAND/NOR flasher might as well just look away from this unless this team can create a cfw that passes the fw check.

He should have went to vacation after he released the keys. Or maybe he went on vacation TO release the keys. OR maybe we are all being played at and this "dev" might just be lying. Time will tell.

Little explanation for you guys,
There are 2 types of NOR dumps:
1. dumping encrypted data from the NOR itself.
2. dumping decrypted data using security hole.

Now for those of you who smart enough to get how dual NOR's can cause security hole, can get the idea behind PNM project.

I was hoping they just used pull cell reset line to get the contents of lv0. Seems so much easier than doing this.

This will not result in a soft-mod jailbreak. The keys that can be found are PUBLIC which means they can only be used for decryption and verifying signatures. The PRIVATE key allows signing.

If he does indeed get the keys he probably won't release them either.. Be for just his dongle, to sell for more money.

dongle? PNM is an internal device that is soldered to the mobo.

I can't see how the keys will lead to a jailbreak either as they are not the private keys.

I'm guessing this will allow just allow us to decrypt things complied for 3.60, and then we can edit and resign using the private keys for 3.55 ect.

So the end result looks to me more like a solution to get the newest games to work on 3.55 CFW.

As much as this may leave 3.56, 3.60, etc. people out of the game (for now), this would still be a great leap forward as far as I'm concerned. It would at least renew a lot of hope for those losing their heads about whether upgrading is the right thing to do.
