PlayStation Suite SDK Goes Open Beta - v0.98 Released

Sony is progressing with the release of the PlayStation Suite SDK. As promised last month, the SDK is in open beta phase and is available for testing by everyone, free of charge.

The PlayStation Suite SDK is Sony's answer for new and seasoned developers to create applications and games for several Sony devices, including the PS Vita. Efforts won't go to waste as you'll be able to submit your work to the PS Store for sale. The suite has everything you need to conjure something up including a debugger, simulator and design tools. You won't be on your own through this as you'll also have access to a special Developers only forum in which you can communicate with other developers.

Sony is looking towards releasing the gold version of the PlayStation Suite SDK later on this year. Unfortunately, the license that will then, be required to use the Suite will set you back $99 for the year.

This is an excellent opportunity for new and fully seasoned developers to expand their capabilities and learn the coding that goes into apps and games. Who knows, some titles that come from this may be just as much of a hit as what the big names are pushing out. If you want to take a look at the SDK yourself, you can download it from Sony's Developer Program site below.

I've been poking around in it a little bit. I don't have a Vita yet, but it's also got a User Interface Composer which seems interesting at least.

Overall it looks pretty easy to use and appears fully functional. A lot of Betas are disabled somehow but this one doesn't look like it is. Can't wait to see what comes out of it

I too gave it a poke, seems interesting... Not a big fan of C# but oh well.

Like Bahumat said, the UIC seems interesting, well yes it is, I looked at it for a bit and the documentation. Highly documented on the UI whether it be 2D/3D.

Just as a side note to anyone, some AV pick up some of the files as malicious etc... If anyone else could confirm that, but it's fixed now on my end.

as surprising as it is, i bet it's not because sony is getting friendly with homebrew creators.

i think they're trying to make another appstore with wealth of apps, like apple did.

No need to think/guess, because this is exactly what PS Suite is suppose to be It is a tool that smaller developers can use to make games and apps, which then can be sold through devices that supports PS Suite. This will appeal to people who make homebrew.

I recently updated to OFW, and the only thing I miss is Showtime... I would love it if it became available to me again!

hoped that somebody will some how can find the game encryption within the SDK . the ECDSA algorithm key . woudn't Sony possibly do that , wish they would !
