  • Playstation Color Logo Creator v2.51 + Announcement/Update for Future Versions

UPDATE 2: TizzyT has once again made an update to his PlayStation Color Logo Creator. Although, this time there is not so much of an update as there is an announcement. TizzyT has removed links to his applications that contained Photoshop, and is working on a Photoshop-free version.

I will NOT be including Photoshop as a bundled option for editing and making the coldboots.
A user has displayed great worry and so I respect his thoughts and will look into using other ways and programs to make coldboots easier.

    Reason:
Photoshop used in the bundled version is a modded portable version I found online. While I have made the entire coldboot creator with functionality in mind I did in fact forget about the other issues. I will advise that anyone using my program should either completely remove it from their systems or use it without the included Photoshop.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.
UPDATE: Playstation Color Logo Creator v2.51 has been released. This update includes some missing features from the previous release, and is ready for you to try out. Here is a look at the current changes:
    • Detects when Photoshop is extracting and when its finished extracting.
    • Save preview image during coldboot packing process, saved in the Coldboot folder.
    • Code Rebug's Coldboot installer will be extracted to the same location as the application
TizzyT has been hard at work on his PlayStation Color Logo Creator application since the last official release. He has released version 2.5, which includes a lot changes that have been made; there have been some fixes as well as steps taken to making the whole process smoother. Also, robgee789 has tested this release and has said everything should be working fine.

Finally wasn't lazy enough to get to work on the next update. The version is now 2.5 and its more of a complete redo then an update. Everything should work and contains the word BETA because I wasn't able to test it myself, but RobGee789 has tested and stated it working.

    Changes:
    • UI has changed.
    • Shouldn't have packing errors anymore.
    • Does fine if file-size of logo changes.
    • No hex-editing.
    • There are no more arguments.
    • Like prior versions of PCLCV2, (should) creates/extracts all required files.
    • CS5 extended instead of CS4.

    Not implemented:
    • Detects when Photoshop is finished extracting (will add in soon).
    • Save preview (will add in soon).
    • Have not added Code Rebug's Coldboot installer (will add in soon).

PS: comments opinions would be nice.

Do you have to have a JB/CFW console for this to work?

The coldboots by nature will work on OFW but unfortunately there is not a way to install custom coldboots on OFW PS3.
So yes you will require a JB/MFW/CFW to be able to use these coldboots.

The TB CFW is based off 3.55 firmware and so I see no reason why it wouldn't work. If you try and and for some reason doesn't work and you are also unable to access the XMB, you can fix by reinstalling the firmware which you were using through recovery mode.

WARNING: For those not paying much attention this software comes with a pirated version of Adobe Photoshop that must be firewalled and blocked using your "hosts" file otherwise it does indeed "call home". I won't go into detail on how to secure this software from letting Adobe know you're using their pirated software due to the fact you should not be using it to begin with.

WORD TO THE AUTHOR: Shame on you! Why not use GIMP instead?

Thank you for your thoughts and opinions they are very important. I do realize that including photoshop was not the best idea. Yes shame on me. I would also like to explain what happened and what is happening.

      What happened:
When I first decided to make the app, I did think of using other programs other then photoshop I really did but it was photoshop that I believed talented designers would like to use. I know there is no excuse I apologize.

      What is happening now:
Me and another person are working on a new app that doesn't require photoshop.
Because someone has come out and stated such a worry for other members and user I will respect your opinion by removing the application so me personally wont distribute it.
I will go back to deciding to implement GIMP 2.6 or something similar until the app that me and another are working on is finished.

Thank you again for your concerns.

@TizzyT - maybe look into giving people an option to use their own copy of PhotoShop or GIMP so there's no problems for you

My application will first check to see if the included Photoshop has been extracted and if it is it will use that version of Photoshop. If the program finds that the Photoshop is not present it will ask you where your own Photoshop installation is, the program was made to use Photoshop and so it asks you to browse to Photoshop(exe) but it DOESN'T have to be Photoshop, you can instead browse to lets say Gimp(exe) and it should still work (if gimp supports opening the format).
From the very beginning I made it so that extracting and using the included Photoshop was OPTIONAL, and its use is only possible if the user went and decided to extract and use it.

Yes, not the best idea at all. I'm glad you're making it optional and you simply code a routine to send GIMP the required command line arguments needed to do what you need it to do. I would also advise you to not inform that kiddie-crap-want-to-be-scene-site ***hax so they all get into trouble. No one said I'm nice

I am currently working on a tool that does just that, converts straight from any image to a coldboot . raf file. But for now using my program you will have to open the logo and copy/paste the image you want into the logo then save it and click create. I believe that is as easy as it gets besides the next method I am working on that I mentioned. No word on when I will finish that.

PS: I have released a tester version of my app that uses GIMP.
Please if anyone is interested visit my blog and read the information on my request.
      Thank you.
