PL3 File Permissions Fix For Kmeaw CFW – Solves Backups Freezing

festizio, from #ps3test on Efnet, has written a nice guide for anyone experiencing backups freezing on Kmeaw CFW. The issue itself is actually due to improper file permissions with PL3, which this PKG fixes.

It seems that alot of folks are having issues installing and running backups on there Ps3′s due to the bug in PL3 that effects file permissions. Here is what I have been doing to get around the black screen hangs and disc read errors.

1. fire up multiman, blackb0x, whatever ftp & transfer your backup
2. run your lv2 pkg of choice
3. run the fix permissions app that is installed from running the package located here – http://www.mediafire.com/?cyi363utdttieux

The app will go through the HD and correct the file permission errors that come with using PL3. I have been using this method after each game backup I install,
however if you install (ftp/copy) 5 at a time the app only needs to be run once and it will fix all 5 games as it does its magic to the entire drive.
Now as far as USB, hampster driven HD’s etc I can not say as I do not have any of the above so I have not tested it myself.

whats with all the cfw isnt anyone working getting dongles working on 3.55 my brothers got cfw on his but im on 3.41 with 3.55 spoof and it runs perfect im using a minimus i havnt had it long and i dont want to stop using it anyone know.

negative...no need for dongles with cfw....the purpose of the dongle was to allow the ps3 to run unsigned code....with ps3 signing keys now available we can sign our own codes thus cfw was born...the end

stay on 3,41 bud, all those on cfw and using PSN are gonna get burned soon ;-), will laugh my ass off when it's done, prolly they give devs the finger, blaming them ;-) my 2 cents, do with the advice what you want

yeah shame the 3.55 spoof hex didnt allow psn and online play but i was browsing my flash the other day and i realized it has a version.txt like the psp and even with the 3.55 spoof that still remained 3.41 and i guess thats why the psn isnt fooled but my brothers ps3 is on 3.55 cfw and ive took a copy of his 3.55 version.txt is there know way to use this to trick the psn let me know what you think.

with the .pkg i get "An error has occured during the install operation. [80029563]"

im on wutangrza,was i suppose to install geohot after wutang,because i didnt,i got wutang installed last night and thats it so far.

Anyone else shit brix when their game froze? Last time that happened to me I got ylod when I rebooted. Fortunately it was PL3 related this time :o

only game i havent been able to run so far is Everybodys golf world tour.. but it also says on the compatibility list that game wont work

so far only tested 3 games tho P.A.I.N, NFS Prostreet and EBGWT.. currently backing up Overlord II (taking forever....)

OFW > OFW 3.50 > OFW 3.41 JB > OFW 3.55 > Wanki 3.55 > OFW 3.55 > Kmeaw 3.55

And that's why I stay offline on my consoles. The only thing online is my PC and laptops. No way I'm gonna have some company take over my $600 piece of machinery (bought it at launch).

Ok I am running Kmeaw's FW with the lv2.pkg and Rogero v7.8 everything is flawless. Including a game which I could never get to run on 3.41. I can confirm CFW is here and working at last. Anyone want to buy my PS3break PM me

Why would they warn us before a ban hammer was dropped (Seriously, I would like to hear the rational behind that statement)?
I wouldn't give a warning. Simple as that.
Kind of like the jailer telling the inmate, "We know you will be trying to break out of jail tonight so be prepared for it". Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I have known from the moment a solid hack was announced that Sony would start coming up with a way to ban modified firmware.
Hackers will continue to work with coming up with ways to bypass the ban. It's about to become a game "big time"now.

I am fine with that.

If PSN is that important to you, get 2 consoles. Leave one stock for online play (with the games that you legally purchased) and one that is modified for your other activities.

I am well aware that my system could get banned in the upcoming months with ZERO warning. Cool, I don't do online play anyway.

If you feel that a warning is going to come................here it is..........
Consider a ban by the Sony Corporation eminent (google the word if you are to young to understand it).

Warn me about what? I'm not online at all. My PS3 is not connected to any router or modem. They won't be able to tell if I'm using backups unless they walk into my house and look on my PS3.

Same thing happened to me once I installed the wutangrza CFW by itself. I then tried to install the geohot patch over that, however the same error (80029563) occurred afterwards as well. I have tried several of these fix pkg's and they have not helped fix the permissions for games that I converted from ISO using PS3 iSO2JB (get a 80010017 error). Anyone else have a solution, other than "Google for Eboots" which I have already done on a few.
