  • PARAM Edit - PS3 Save Modifier Tool

Developer corwin75 released PARAM Edit, a tool used to modify your PS3 saves. Currently, it appears the application is only in French, but with only a few commands, it should not be to hard to translate it via Google Translate. Take a look at the official announcement below to see what a great tool this is, and why you should keep an eye on it.

    Hello.
It's complicated you change your ps3 saves by lack of knowledge or you have simply no hex editor? The solution is very simple. PARAM Edit is a small program that I just create to modify your saves in several areas:
    - Modify the protection of saves (lock / unlock copies)
    - Make compatibility saves with your account
    - Modify the saves details
    - Change the title of the saves
    - Edit sub-title of the saves

Sources are being modified to be especially easy to read and understand each operation.

    EXPLANATION:
For compatibility. You need a save to make it compatible with a game and a save from your account with the same game.

Oh OK, thanks I'll give it a try.

EDIT: Does your program check for both occurrences of the ID? Sometimes there are more than one occurrence of the ID. I'm still getting "This profile belongs to another user" something like that, If your program does check for all occurrences I'm wondering If there is something else not allowing it.

No it doesn't check multiple occurrences of the ID. It should be an improper PARAM.SFO.

BTW I have updated (again) my PS3 PARAM.SFO Editor 2.0. It now has a button that let you load the Account ID from another PARAM.SFO, and remember the value (so the next time you don't have to select any file, unless you right click to select another PARAM.SFO).

The major addition is that it now allows to add new fields to a PARAM.SFO, which is nice for the PARAM.SFO that don't have some fields, like the ATTRIBUTE field (which allows Remote Play from the PC or PSP).

(to add a new field press SHIFT+F2)

UPDATE: My PS3 PARAM.SFO Editor is now in version 2.1
In addition to the Account ID button (to make compatible certain saves that don't check the PARAM.PSD) and support to add new fields. The version 2.1 has some fields in the GUI that allow to edit some ATTRIBUTE values, like add support for Background Music, disable Move Controller warnings, PSP Vita Remote Play, etc.

Fake data ownership does not assign the save file to your console. You will have trouble with trophies and saving the game on some games. It's mainly for debugging purposes and not for the everyday user. The reason it's there is for the game designers to test different parts of the game between different consoles. It is not meant to take over a save file and use it on your ps3/user account. Assign the save to your console/user account using this tool, aldostools' SFO editor or ps3saveunlocker. It's easier than some of you are making it out to be and definitely easier than installing a new custom firmware and qa flagging

Thanks for the info as it helped me understand the processes involved regarding this Rebug firmware and Q/A flags. I know the basics are child's play as look at the site this app came from; it's a bunch of kids thinking they are "sceners". It's halarious to read some of their more flamboyant moderators comments and watch why people are banned. Disregarding the children in the scene I am personally not going to upgrade my PS3 to any firmware be it modified or official. I am currently (and slowly) saving up for a second PS3 to run the latest OFW to play a few games I've purchased that I can't play just right yet.

If perhaps in the future the PS3 is more open like the PSP is I will consider upgrading as my main concern is running Linux and not games. I play more BD movies then games. I know you can install Linux using that OtherOS++ w/CFW, but the installation instructions are beyond what I am capable of doing. I don't see the PS3 being hacked wide open anytime soon due to the fact that Sony got to most of the devs who had the skills to break it's security and any new hackers want little to due with it as the ramifications of their work being released is not pleasent if Sony catches up with them. So for now I can settle with my 3.15 running YDL. You can do anything with Linux that you can on CFW like playing MKV's, but you cannot boot backups; which is okay as I don't really play games anymore. Heck, I'm 200+ hours into FFXIII and still got a lot to go.

Thanks again for the explanation I saved the text so if in the future I do install CFW I will have a basis on what to do instead of scratching my head. Cheers!

after that the "Fake Data Ownership is in the debug menu under your internet settings icon in settings colum.
i would post links but rebug asks specifically for people not to however i can link you to there site, i hope everyone that reads this post does this instead, its a permanent solution to what we thought was a permanent problem

ive been using it for like 3 or 4 mounths now:P i like downloading all my favorite savefiles and using them no problem what so ever.

      Rebug(dot)me-(the gods that made this)

Unfortunately, I get the following error message when I try to upload the modified save data.
      =(

      The data is corrupted.
      (8001051C)
I have tried several things, but to no avail.
I tried both the "PS3 Save Unlimited" (if I go to properties in Windows it says this version was "Date Modified: 2/9/2011 12:26 AM" so maybe there is a newer version of that one?),

as well as the one from this page, "PARAM edit EN", which, in Windows properties, the file says "Date Modified: 6/12/2011" so that means it only listed the date I downloaded it, so I have no idea how long ago this version was created.

I also tried the version 2.1 package of ps3Tools that one of the users in this thread made. It is called "PARAM_SFO_Editor" and it is one of the files in the .rar package. Unfortunately, this does even less, because when I put it back in the PS3 it still reads as being from another PS3.

Does anyone out there have a solution? I am trying to do Soul Calibur IV save. The original save is good because when I overwrote, it worked, it just said you can't use it when started up the game, and said you must exit the game and it will delete the data because you can't use it. So that's why I need to modify the save file.

Oh, and by the way I am using a completely unmodified PS3 with a legit disc of Soul Calibur IV. I have done no hacks or anything to my PS3.

      UPDATE:
      ------------

Okay so I was reading forums and I found this helpful info:
Your ps3 must be jailbroken for this to work.

      1. Obtain someone else's save.
      2. Using your game and console, create a new save.
      3. Use comgeine's file manager or ftp to transfer the app .dat and param .pfd from the save you obtained to the save you just created.
      4. Start the game and try to save the game, ignore the description of the save and just load it. Then save again, and you're done.

you cannot swap these files on your computer then use the xmb to transfer the save to your console because it will say the data is corrupt.
Oh well, I guess I can't do it then because I am not going to jailbreak my PS3. =(
